the old hall is a charming old pub set in the Derbyshire countryside, and about a 15 minute walk from chinley railway station, unless you drive. they always have a great choice of ales, mainly sourced from the local area. when I went, they had three top ales on from the abbeydale brewery. we only sampled sandwiches from the lunchtime... We stayed one night at the pub with bed and breakfast and one night in their air b and b cottage seconds up the road. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The rooms were lovely and the breakfast menu was wide and delicious. Excellent for vegetarian breakfast. We had one dinner there too. Equally delicious. Unsurprisingly it's popular so dinner... We had a great Saturday evening with great beers, interesting gin and wines and quality food. The pub was heaving so booking is a must. Likewise, if you want to enjoy the house speciality of steak and ale pudding, you need to reserve this when you book your table. Our food was top quality for a pub fare. The beers... More

My husband and I were passing through the beautiful Peak District on route from seeing family in Yorkshire to home in London. We had a wonderfully friendly welcome, a fantastic couple of pints of the pale ale, delicious supper and an all round good old fashioned great pubby time. My supper of pork belly and veg was very well done... More

Visited a couple of times recently with my wife and our sons and their partners. Food is excellent, particularly the specials. Beef cheeks were wonderful. Like the relaxed atmosphere but the service suffered when they were really busy, they were a bit rushed but kept their smiles so it's a minor point.

Excellent, multi awad winning, country house pub. This is an old coaching house set in beautiful Derbyshire hills on the edge of the High Peak. It is about a mile's walk from Chinley rail station, but take care as the station is not accessible for wheelchair users and it is a reasonably steep walk up to Whitehough from Chinley. Over... Dining here can be a bit quirky, with several different rooms, on this occasion we were in a 'kitchen' room separated from other diners, but it was lovely and private. Food was really great, as always, Guinea Fowl really good, a nice selection of beers too, and perfect service. Really should come here more often, thank you!

We are on Easter Sunday at 5pm after reserving a table for 2. Our order was taken promptly, however the food took 45 minutes to arrive. This wouldn't normally be an issue for us, however when it did arrive one of the two meals was incorrect -we had ordered a burger and a roast dinner was brought to the table.... More

Delighted you enjoyed your food, i'm sorry to hear of the mix up with the dishes, it does sound like we simply entered the dish incorrectly and you have my apologies for the delay this caused. This was a rare mistake, and i hope that you will find a repeat visit to go much smoother. Thank you for taking the... More

Description
We are proud of our reputation for great local ales and have an amazing regular following, who are not only responsible for the wonderfull lively atmosphere you will find at the Old Hall, but also for allowing such an extensive selection of traditional hand pulled cask ales and ciders to be offered. We offer a home cooked menu, using local produce, with a restaurant that extends into the Old Hall itself, complete with Elizabethan Minstrels Gallery.
