Had a delicious breakfast on my way to Napier. Interesting range of food, friendly service, quirky decore and lots of outdoor seating. Recommended

Opened early Saturday morning so we could enjoy our breakfast at 8.30. Impressed with generous portions, prompt service and nice surroundings. Delicious meals including eggs Bene, scrambled eggs and bacon.

We called in for a quick lunch. I had a chicken filo and I`m sorry but it was the worst filo I have ever had. It had mainly just big chunks of chicken without any flavour. It made me feel a bit sick for the rest of the day, very bland. My husband had a pie and wasn`t impressed either

One of the few places open on Anzac day. On our way south. Very friendly staff. Wonderful Bacon & Eggs. Up there with the very best we have ever had. Very good cabinet selection. Well priced. Nice clean cafe. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend and yes we be back

Went for lunch. Moderately busy. Asked for a spare plate and finally got a clean one after the third time. Food was below average. Hot drinks were sub standard. Service was generally poor. No soap in the bathroom. Asked for soap, the waitress went to find some and didn't come back (apparently there was no soap) and left 4 of... More

Good setting for a cafe just opposite the info centre and Merino lamb exhibition. Food was good and served swiftly. Quaint old shop, maybe has been a school many years ago.

Tirau is a popular place to stop for travelers on the main road north, and has several cafes and lunch bars, but the most popular by far is the Cabbage Tree. Set right on the pavement, an historic building oozes character, and the inside has been enhanced by thousands of travelers signing the walls. Service is quick and pleasant; even... More

Enjoyed the cranberry with pistachio filo along with hot mocha. Throughly enjoyed it. Requested the barista to make the mocha temperate hot and she did just that. The Asian server was very polite and thankful. Well worth the pit stop.
