Not so long ago, when Octopus Garden was owned by previous people, my partner and I would stop in regularly for a pizza or a steak and, on occasion, listen to music. It was always a relaxed "hippie" kind of place with no pretension. We never expected fine dining, but it was always fine for what it was ... a... More

Thank you for your comments. I can assure you we do care, I am glad the food you did enjoy is from the new menu and I am so sorry that dirty menus spoiled your experience. Just a heads up, we currently print our menus daily as we are working on the new menu and we change things on a... More

This place is just a few steps from St. James Beach if you want to get something to eat. They have fresh wild oysters for R20, wrap sandwiches, pizza and beer. It is decorated with eclectic things that you'll enjoy!

We went twice when here on holiday last year the food was excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful but the food was only average, the steaks hadn't been trimmed and were a bit tough, the poached egg on top was hard. The wine list was either house red or white. Reasonably priced, very chilled setting. Wonder if it has... More

Hi there, just a heads up, the steak changed and contains fat because the cut we used before was fillet, a fat free cut, and now we use sirloin, which has more flavour but is a tougher cut of meat and contains more fat. We did this as we did not want to raise the price of the steak to... More

We were hoping for a fairly quick meal, as we hopped along the coastal towns, but sadly, the service was fairly slow, and because there were no wait-staff around the outside area, there was a lot of waiting required before someone showed up to take orders, or bring the bill..... The food was good though! We enjoyed the funky names... More

Quirky bar/restaurant with play area in the garden for the kids - we spent a couple of hours enjoying the weather, the sound of the sea and the odd train going past. The staff were friendly - a lovely spot.

I recently visited the Octopus Garden. It is a very chilled place with live music. I enjoyed the vibe. However I really thought R50 for a pint of beer is super expensive for any place, never mind a tiny place in Kalk Bay... disappointed by the cost, but enjoyed myself. It is also child friendly.

Hi there. Our Craft Beer on tap is made by hand with care and ranges from R35 to R50 depending on the beer. Our regular SAB beer is cheaper than most other restaurants in the neighbouring town of Kalk Bay. Have a fab day!!!!! 🐙🐙🐙 More

Our last dinner during our wonderful vacation in South Africa was in the Octopus Garden. We did not have any specific expectation, but had to our feeling the most authentic dinner experience in South Africa. We very much enjoyed our dinner, as well as the relaxed atmosphere with nice music in the background. The service was great and the quality... More

The Octopus' Garden Restaurant gets its inspiration from the Beatles song. Ringo Starr was inspired by the tendency of Octopi to collect shells & stones to create an environment/ 'Garden' in which they live 'Under the Sea'. A warm, quirky eclectic vibe, with friendly, sassy staff that make you feel like you have just entered someones lounge. A selection of the finest (locally brewed craft beer) gourmet pizzas and a quirky, interesting menu that suits vegetarians, vegans and carnivores. Best grilled chilli poppers in town!!! There is a large beer garden and shaded courtyard with fairy garden, childrens organic jungle gym and treehouse. Dogs are very much welcomed and are even catered to on the menu Octopus garden is also home to the famous silent disco, where you can boogey under the stars to 3 DJ's with 3 genres of music.
