We have been driving by this spot for years on our way up to the cottage and finally decided to go in for breakfast. The cafe is small and homey. We had to wait for 20 minutes to be seated, as all tables were full...(this was on the Family Day wknd so it may not be so busy on a regular wknd). We didn't mind the wait as we had nowhere to be. The servers were friendly but quite busy and it took some time after taking our drink order to come back and take our meal order - another 20 minutes -this was the only drawback to our visit (and we found out they were short staffed that day, too, so I cannot really say it was bad). I ordered the Old English breakfast ($9), consisting of 2 eggs, fried tomatoes, sauteed peppers, mushrooms and onions with toast and I asked for the bacon to be on the side so my boyfriend could eat it. Very good taste and was hot and well cooked. My boyfriend ordered the Original Dragonfly Breakfast Bake ($10), which consisted of grilled homefries topped with sausage, a cheese blend, 2 eggs and toast. He said it was great and the homefries had a good flavour to them. We also ordered the Deluxe French Toast ($10) as we were curious about it being dipped in cornflakes - it definitely did give it a crispy crunch texture and was delicious with the maple syrup and and icing sugar - you get a choice of ham, bacon or sausage - he chose the ham - good thickness and size. The servers did ask us if we wanted refills for our tea and coffee. We both enjoyed our meal. They also have pancakes, waffles, burgers, wings and a variety of hot and cold sandwiches. Traditional country fare. They only use trans fat free oils for cooking and bake bread fresh daily that can be purchased. Most likely we would come back again and see how the service is.More

I had not visited this restaurant for quite some time. We were in the vicinity and my boyfriend suggested going out for lunch. He had never been there before. We both ordered the cream of mushroom soup with a grilled garlic bun. Wow! All products...are homemade & the mushroom soup was loaded with mushrooms. Yummy!More

We ate breakfast here on a Sunday. The choices were plentiful, the food was excellent, the portions were huge as were many of the patrons. We have never seen larger plates, so many ball caps and as many morbidly overweight people. It was a delight...and a good experience. We won't have to eat for hours and were unable to devour more than half of what we were served.More

This little family run restaurant is a very special gem. The owner was talking with our family like he had known us for a long time. The other staff were just as friendly and super attentive. The meal size was awesome and filling. Our family...was very pleased with everything. They make their own breads daily.More

The Dragon Fly is a great place for breakfast. The bread is delicious (fresh baked), the eggs are cooked to your preference and not greasy. It certainly is not a fancy place but the service and food are good and that is what counts. We...go there often on a Saturday morning. I would recommend this restaurant.More

The most important meal of the day ? Breakfast, and if you are in the Owen Sound 'hood you could not, absolutely not, do better than the Dragonfly Cafe. Starting with the service, it is cheerful and prompt. Bacon and eggs might be hard to...ruin but Dragonfly raises the bar, especially with their home fries, deliciously flavoured. For me it is the toast, thick sliced crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Just yum, a beautiful food experience that can sometimes be same old. Check it out.More
