This restaurant is a hidden gem of Monte Gordo and Portugal, in general. We live in Lisbon and regularly eat Nepalese and Indian cuisine there; and this is honestly the best Nepalese food we've tried so far. The dal soup, garlic cheese naan, and main dishes are all incredible. We'd be more than happy to return just to be able to try their other dishes, of which they have many.
Apart from the delicious food, the service from Thakur and his family/staff was the best we've received in a while out of various cities and countries. They were friendly and accommodating without making us feel rushed or pressured. Thakur was especially attentive and knowledgeable. He answered all of our questions about life in Nepal. If you like to learn about other cultures and cuisines, we highly recommend eating at Maharaja Patiala in Monte Gordo. Thank you, Thakur and family/friends! 💛 Alex and João

Hidden away in a side street of Monte Gordon's main shopping street, this family run Nepalese restaurant is true reflection of fine cooking, friendly efficient service and value beyond the price.
Our dishes were excellent made with quality ingredients and flavoured perfectly.
Decor is simple and traditional, for me adding to the authenticity of the restaurant.
If you like "Indian" food make this a must go.

such friendly service- the best we had during our stay in Monte Gordo.
The portion sizes were perfect and I loved the flavours used - a little different than we were used to from Indian food at home as this has Nepalese ingredients and dishes too.
They serve ice cold mahou on draft too!

It's ok indian/Nepal foot for this kind of location: a small touristic beach town. But compared to the once you find in Londen, Brussels or Paris it means nothing. They use deep-fried vegetables for there vegetarian dishes and not spicy enough. If you're not affright for a little grease, than the naan is surprisingly good!

I was dining alone and chose this restaurant as I had a hankering for Indian food. I am North Indian by origin so I may be a bit picky when it comes to indian cuisine. I picked this place because of the name - Patiala is in North India, but this was Nepalese. I had expected better though. I ordered the daal, which was a little bit too thick and was a little flat tasting. I also ordered the chicken tikka masala. Nothing special about it. Seemed they probably use the same sauce for all the dishes. Service was good. All in all, just...meh.

Amazing food amazing service - had the best time here, the food was absolutely 10/10 (We had chicken chilli masala, chips, rice, garlic naan) best food we have had all holiday. Thakur was very attentive and made us feel special, treated us to a Baileys and popadoms which was lovely! Best mango chutney on the planet by the way. If you visit monte gordo this is the place to go if you love a good time and great food!! Lots of love Paige & Lewis Manchester 2022 x

A lovely family run restaurant with top quality home made food served by the friendliest staff. We ate off the tourist menu (10.99€) and added poppadoms, which was excellent value for money. We also had frozen mango for dessert, which was absolutely delicious! We will definitely be returning soon!!

The staff could not have been friendlier and more accommodating. The food was delicious and inside the restaurant felt like we part of the owners home. We would definitely go back and wouldn't have any reservations about recommending to anyone.

This was the best restaurant we visited in our 12 days in Monte Gordo Portugal.
We ate there three times and the food was excellent on each occasion. The host was a lovely friendly gentleman who went out of his way to make our meals enjoyable. He made a special Lebanese chicken Karachi dish twice for my husband and the sizzling tandoori chicken shashkeh was outstanding.
Would Def go there again and would happily recommend it to fellow visitors to the area.

We have travelled all over Portugal and visited dozens of Indian restaurants and I can honestly say, this restaurant is top of our list. The chef has a great understanding of the use of spices, the balance is perfect and the quality of the ingredients is superb. The owners are really nice people, polite, helpful and very interesting to chat with, all in all 10/10. We immediately booked for a second evening before we left, can't wait.

The best Indian restaurant we've ever tried! The person who served us was a tender young man, Pawan, a very good boy and super friendly. The last time we were here was 18 years ago and the heat we had saved came from the food they had served us. Today, I know it comes from the food and the friendliness of the employees. What an excellent experience indeed. Memorable!
We ordered chicken tikka masala and butter chicken, with samosas and garlic cheese naan as starters. I can say that everything was the best I've ever eaten! We will definitely be back 🙏🏻❤️

This has to be the worst Indian food I have ever tasted... A scruffy little back street place, with decor that was stuck in the 1970's
I purposely chose simple dishes that anyone could cook, as the restaurant décor and staff didn't exactly fill me with confidence...
I was amazed at the flat onion bhaji which was bright red and not coated in crispiness and had no flavour at all. Yuck !!
I also had Tandoori Chicken Tikka because I thought you can't surely ruin this dish. But here they managed to do that. Again bright red and strange texture for a chicken breast dish, and the chunks of chicken had holes in it , as if it had been taken off a skewer and then warmed up. yuck !!
Thank god, I wasn't ill the next day!!

Can’t say anything other than “wow”. I’ve eaten at all sorts/regional Indian restaurants all over the world and this one is absolutely at the top of my list. Whenever the owners come over and have a friendly chat with you ahead of your meal…I personally love that. Great value. Cozy (eg good balance). Delicious!!!!

Very kind people you feel like part of the family being looked after. Tasty food and caters for vegans too.
It would be nice to hear some music in the restaurant to complete the nepalese / indian atmosphere :) will visit again soon. Rosina from Bristol x
