About
Location, Location, Location….. The vision for ‘The Boathouse’ emerged quite simply out of the very views currently enjoyed from its windows. The ever-changing Lough Foyle never ceases to inspire and captivate the onlooker. How better to make use of such a setting, than to establish an eatery right on its shores..? When it comes to food, our philosophy is simple – Quality, fresh ingredients. When in season and at their best, these, transformed into a tasty meal is one of life’s great pleasures. We want our customers to celebrate the joys of eating and sharing good food, in a relaxed laid-back surrounding.

Last time we were here was this time 3 possibly 4 years ago. We always said we would return as the food was superb but just never got round to it.(most of our group not from the area). So, we booked a table for last...Saturday for 6. This is a lovely wee restaurant and I'm glad it hasn't changed. It was great to see it busy. Lovely open fire greets you on entry followed by a warm welcome from staff. The food was as it was the last time we visited - excellent. Everyone really enjoyed the food.. particularly the cod dish enjoyed by a normally fussy mother... whose birthday it was! Staff gathered round and sang happy birthday to her which was a lovely touch. Staff really looked after the two weans with us as well. Do yourself a favour and pay this place a visit. You won't regret it.More

We were all so excited to being going out here for dinner as we heard great reports about the food boy were we disappointed two of us had to send back our meal as it was over cooked and greasy starters were Thai fish cakes...tasted liked tinned salmon deep fried so very disappointed and not cheap only positive thing during the night was that the service was great and the manager fergial was very professional plus our company was great but saying that we will not be back.More

Recently visited the boathouse restaurant and I was not disappointed. The restaurant is so laid back and relaxing and the host really makes you feel at ease. I had the goats cheese salad, steak and salted caramel tart and could not fault it. I also...had a solero cocktail which everyone needs to try. The staff were so attentive, friendly and provided exceptional service. Highly recommend!!More

My wife and I visited the Boathouse for dinner during a recent stay in the Redcastle hotel. The restaurant is very convenient for hotel residents and can be accessed by a short path. The host made us very welcome and there was a lovely ambiance...with views of Lough Foyle. The food was excellent, particularly the seafood - we had squid and pate to start followed by monkfish curry and salmon linguine which were all very tasty and well presented. One of the best meals we've had for a while and we will definitely be back next time we stay in the Redcastle.More
