Great atmosphere! Food is excellent. My wife had salmon which was decorated perfectly. I had steak. Presentation was very poor. Steak ok, but not too impressed. We had very nice wines. Still the restaurant is costly.

On a Friday evening the restaurant was almost full - so a reservation was a must. The menu is extensive, giving lots of possibilities but also making you think simultaneously how well the kitchen personnel is able to prepare all dishes in a presentable delicious...way. We had escargots and mushroom soap as our starters. The soup was tasty and the escargots had a nice smell and taste of garlic, but I am not quite sure, if the bread was roasted - as promised. Grilled salmon was quite good, as were the mussels which originated to my surprise from Chile. The waitresse recommended good whitewine and from their beer list you can pick König Ludvig Weissbier, which matches very well with mussels. Creme brulee was a tasty and showy dessert. Chocolate truffle was also tasty, but at the same time a bit tricky, how to eat it out from a rather deep bowl. The service ran smoothly throughout our dinner.More

Food was messy and complicated: there were risotto, pure, and sauce etc on the same plate. Didn’t make same sense at all. Chicken was dry and overcooked. Considering the food quality the place was expensive.

Tried to eat there. First we tried to order beer from the menu - 2/3rd of the beers weren’t available anymore. Then we ordered the food - after a few minutes we were told by the waitress that the steak we ordered wasn’t available as...well. Frustrated we left.More

Close to kitchen closing we had just mains. The food came quickly but there was no sign of haste. Simple, tasty dishes, well worth the buck. Friendly, attentive service. The only minus is that during a hot night there was no aircon.

Nice service, clean place, good food. Came here with wife to look for great beef. Wine was really good, good decision from me 😅. I ordered thei 'traditional pepper steak', which was ok. But not worth 42 euro. Just a pepper steak. Wifes chicken salad,...was good, she gave 4 points 😉. Anyway, ok place, not the best, not the worst.More

Great food! Fresh flavours and excellent quality. Place is usually full, so book a table. We had three course meal and everyone was happy. Special thanks to tartar and desserts.

We had a early summer vacation and were visiting Lappeenranta. The list of The Kitchen was interesting and it provided something for all of us (two peche-vegetarians and a carnevoir). It turned out the list was all new and there for the first night. For...that reason some elements from the list were still missing. The restaurant was modern and not too formal. The service was excellent and it really made our experinece special. Warmest thanks for that! Overall food was really nice. For starters I had rice paper rolls and they were lovely. However the grilled octopus really blew us away! It was fenomenal, said my husband. As a main we had seilors mussels. They weren't the best mussels we have ever had but the dish was perfectly nice. Our teenager had entrecote and he really enjoyed it. There were a couple of dishes missing from the dessert list so there were not a lot to choose from. The waiter was nice enough to offer some limoncello, but we passed it this time. It was a nice gesture! We ended up having ice cream and sorbets. All in all we really loved The Kitchen and we will recommed it to our friends too.More

Probably the best lunch in Lappeenranta. Good main courses and salads. Friendly staff. I recommend indeed.
