Visited with a group of 20 co-workers, and I had the fish and chips. It took a while to get served because of the large group, but the food was good and plentyfull. The location is excellent - especially if you plan on going out in Haugesund afterwards.

Serves great salads, the caesar is particularly good, the renowned local and very delicious fishsoup and other brasserie style dishes. The food is served in minutes, however not compromising the quality. The location is great just next to the fjord/canal and all the picturesque buildings in the very old inner harbour.

Stayed at the hotel (Scandic Maritime) for 5 nights, had dinner at Cafe Rene one of the evenings. Beautiful setting on the water. I sat outside in the warm evening sun. Had fish and chips with white wine. Service is only so so. Ordered at the front counter. But the food was delicious. Fish (cod) was perfect and tasty. Had... More

The veal burger was tasty. It was served with a Norwegian cheese called Kraftkar (=powerful man), indicating the rich taste. The taste was fabulous. The service had some beginner's mistakes (young waitress), unsure about the dish and its ingredients. Room for improvement. The room was average. The other customers were noisy with loud laughter and cell phone video display, dragging... More

Just ok... has potential but serves garden variety boring sandwiches and soup that require no cook to make. Deserts are ok but they do not have skim milk for coffee...just whole milk.

The Rene Burger with bacon is huge and tasty. The place is next to the river with an nice few on the boats and the old houses there. The espresso was also good and the cakes looked really nice.

The staff were great and accommodated my off-the-menu drink request with no problems. I didn't eat, but it looked delicious. The queueing area was small and it took a while to be served, but it was extremely busy. Also, be prepared for unisex toilets. Cafe Rene was a pleasant place to spend some of Sildajazz.

As per usual, prices of any food & beverage in norway are high, with that in mind i found the food reasonable for the prices. In short, dont expect fine dining and you'll be happy. I ate here twice as a result of staying at the hotel above. Both meals were acceptable. The pork ribs were tasty enough but clearly... More

As usual in norway the prices is high and the food quality is never matching thesum. Renes is not different from that standardized norwegian picture. Normal beer is 10 euro and a plate of dull hamburger was 25 euro so thats life. Service was ignorant and unprofessional.interior modern with plastic chair. But great location by the sea. But probably other... More
