The location is typical of the Ticino Grotto, very beautiful; the menu is definitely restaurant with quality dishes; in fact it is in the Gault&Millau Guide. It has an indoor room and a terrace, where you can eat outdoors when the weather allows.
The menu presents a choice of very interesting dishes with seasonal products. We had dinner during the "hunt for risotto" festival. All the dishes were exquisite. Some dishes suitable for celiacs. Very courteous staff. We will return.

Very nice and welcoming place, with outdoor terrace. Amazing wine cellar.
The menu presents very interesting dishes, of excellent quality delicate and well presented.

We had reserved a table for 2pm, as the website states that the restaurant is open from 11.45am to 2.30pm. When we arrived there at 2.08pm after a 40 minute drive, we were told that our reservation had been incorrectly noted as 12pm and that the kitchen closes at 2pm. So we were 8 minutes too late for the kitchen and the restaurant had made the wrong note of our reservation. No mercy, we were allowed to drive 40 minutes home again. Instead of writing on the homepage until when the restaurant is open, it would make sense to write that you can't get anything warm to eat after 2pm. We are completely disappointed and can't understand the arrogant behaviour of the waiter who turned us away. For us a total failure!

Attracted by the words “grotto” we entered this place that has absolutely nothing of grotto, but is rather a restaurant of high standing. We wanted to eat some typical Ticino dishes as proposed by the “grotto” sign, we had to adapt to the high standing cuisine, and consequently spend a much higher amount than expected.

Egregio 47alessandrob, nel 2024 queste baggianate non sono più credibili.
Al giorno d'oggi con instagram, facebook,..... potete benissimo leggere e informarvi che è SI un grotto (location) ma siamo presenti nella gaultMillau e di conseguenza si puo immaginare che non sia più un grotto con il tazzino.
Le assicuro però che piatti della tradizione ne abbiamo di più che un grotto come dice lei.( salumi misti Ticinesi, 10 tipi di formaggi ticinesi, guancetta di vitello con la polenta,.....)
Forse le ha dato fastidio qualcos'altro dal primo momento che siete arrivati.
Se avete speso troppo della vostra idea che avevate sarò pronto ad accogliervi con la cena ticinese ma sopratutto offerta.

We had lunch in the Grotto and have never been treated so unfriendly and condescendingly. You can tell that the Grotto is doing well and is not dependent on new guests. The Grotto is probably a hobby of the owner, but it's still a shame that not all guests are treated equally. The food was mediocre, and the dishes were often slammed onto the table without any love. It's a shame, I can't understand the good reviews. We won't be coming back.

I was there for dinner last week with a friend. The service was very good, the staff friendly and knowledgeable.
Good wine list and also the menu.
You all the dishes ordered were served with a very good presentation. The food was good.

Our second time here, the Grotto offers a lovely setting outside or in, good service and delicious dishes... makes for a memorable, special dinner. The homemade tortelloni with crab were amazing, the tomato salad was superb, among the best tomatoes I've ever had. Tender, fresh gnocchi, delicious bruschetta... everything was right on.

What a surprise tonight! We went to this restaurant which was recommanded by friends. As a family already coming to the beautiful mendrisiotto for more than 30 years and having friends and relatives here we almost feel like being locals. We love to go out for dinner and really appreciate the local cuisine therefore we happy to know a lot of the restaurants around. This place has been the best for many years of our experience here. The menu written on a blackboard was not too big, but consists of a very good variety of simple and promising dishes. The food was wonderful from starters to deserts! Also the recommodation of the local wines was far beyond expectation. The chef and his staff were very much caring and gave us the feeling to be at home. This cosy place, not too big but perfect size was the perfect place to finish our holifays. We only can give our best rates and highly recommand this place to people who love the fine and honest cuisine. We are very much looking forward to come back soon!

Every dish is a Highlight! There is no better Vitello Tonato! The fresh&homemade Gnocchi are amazing, the Tortellini with Crabmeat just delicious... as everything else we tasted here so far! We love this Grotto and always come back here, worth every visit!

The former owners of Grotto della Salute in Massagno did it again. The kitchen is excellent and mainly Mediterranean. Their first courses are very good, and the gnocchi the best in town. The meats are varied and well prepared and the guinea fowl simply excellent. The deserts match the aforementioned. The garden is cute. Price quality relationship is above average. I can highly advise
