Courtesy, competitive prices, magnificent views and great food. Too bad it takes 70CHF to get to the restaurant and back.

The 360 degree views from the restaurant are absolutely stunning and the food as well as the service match it. The waiting staff did not blink twice when we asked for a table following a strenuous three-hour hike from Mendrisio with the looks to match it. The service was charmingly Italian and impeccable. They also had no issues with ordering some polenta latte off the children’s menu. The beef with soft and crispy polenta as a main dish was an absolute revelation with the meat perfectly cooked accompanied by a simple but creatively presented polenta. The restaurant even bottles their own wine and the rose was a perfect choice on this warm summer day.

Monte Generoso. Here the universe proved truly gorgeous. Restaurant on the top of the mountain above Lugano’s lake. If you don’t like hiking for two hours, there is a wonderful train that gets you at the top. Top location, good food and selected wines. Worth you treating yourself so well. Good service as well. Bit expensive , but it’s balanced with quality and top notch view of lake and mountains.

An evening with great but unfortunately unexpressed potential.
The climb to Monte Generoso is wonderful and well organised. The location is nothing short of spectacular. The à la carte dinner is good and with many links to Ticino cuisine.
We arrived at 7.30pm and left at 11.15pm. Instead of being able to enjoy the magnificent starry sky and the suggestions of the summit we were forced to sit at the table all the time at the mercy of very long times. The dishes never arrived. The botched candlelight and the aseptic nature of the place did not promote good mood but rather sleep.
Even though we were 6 rather close-knit guests, we couldn't wait to leave this room of inestimable sadness.
Too bad. An aperitif or digestif outdoors and maybe a little music or decoration (two cheap candles per table are not enough) would have been enough to leave us with an indelible memory of the evening.

grazie per la visita al Fiore di pietra e ci dispiace che l'esperienza durante il CandleLight Dinner non sia stata all'altezza delle vostre aspettative.
L'evento prevede una risalita del trenino e una discesa speciale che lascia il tempo di godere dell'atmosfera in vetta e della cena à la carte senza fretta.
Gli ospiti spesso prima di cena si godono il panorama all'aperto e tra le portate approfittano della vista panoramica dalla terrazza a 360gradi del 5° piano. Raccogliamo però volentieri il feedback che voi avreste preferito anticipare la discesa.
Il personale di sala passa sempre a tutti i tavoli durante il servizio per assicurarsi che tutto stia andando bene. Anche da parte vostra le risposte sono state solo positive e non ci é quindi stato possibile reagire sul momento.
Ringraziandovi nuovamente per i vostri input, che servono per continuare a migliorare i nostri eventi, ci auguriamo di darvi presto nuovamente il benvenuto in vetta, magari anche in occasioni di eventi musicali come il Sunset Apero.

Great food as well as great location. I brought my husband here for his birthday one Sunday lunch.
I thought I would find a very chic place where the view and the location would be the highlight, instead we ate VERY WELL! Large portions that I would never have thought in such a small place... we were happily surprised!

A friend and I entered the restaurant 7 minutes after the last order for the kitchen but the entire staff graciously accommodated us for lunch. The panoramic views, excellent food and service was the cherry on top of our hike to Monte Rosso!

Visiting the Monte Generoso we ended up in this restaurant by coincidence and even though the prices seemed "touristic" / rather high, we decided to go for it. As we were pretty early we got an excellent table - or the best one - at the window with views of lake Lugano and the surrounding villages / alps / lakes even without a reservation!
Having an amuse geule, salad and a main course we could only share a desssert, which was also excellent. We also received some delicious home made cookies with our coffee. The wine they recommended was very tasty and from the region (Merlot) and after paying we even receivecd some local bitter to taste. The service was excellent too and very helpful, so our stay was to our fullest satisfaction.
To summarize, all in all for what we received we did not find the prices high anymore, the quality was corresponding and for the same quality we would pay much more at home in northern Switzerland.

The menu says the pace of the meal will be slow. I could happily have sat here all day. The service was excellent and the staff friendly and very helpful. The view is fantastic and the window seat I had with its magnificent view over Lake Lugano and Lugano town was perfect for me. The food was beautiful presented and tasted divine. The only problem I had was making sure that I did not stay there all day and missy my ferry connection back to Lugano.

Because we enjoy a fantastic view, we booked a table well in advance and received a written confirmation but upon arriving they didn‘t have a booking! Without offering us an alternative they even made us wait more than 20 minutes to pay after receiving the check. The menues were average and the service was lousy, chaotic and negligent. I would strongly consider to eat in the self service restaurant - maybe you might find the promised „haute cuisine“ there.

We went to this restaurant to celebrate a birthday. Considering the stratospheric 54.-- fr each for the train that took us to the summit, I expected to eat little at a very high price......
The view is breathtaking and it is worth taking a walk around the restaurant (paths leading to the summit with lookout areas / picnics and play area for children). The building designed by Botta is not My Saves but I must say that it integrates into the context of the mountain with the use of worked stone cladding.
The restaurant located on the 4th floor is very nice and with a fantastic view (fortunately it was a wonderful day) open kitchen, refined dishes but executed with local products, well presented, with the right amount of food and incredibly.... at a correct price (we always talk about Switzerland). The staff were attentive and professional, they even "improvised" the birthday cake for the birthday girl.
In conclusion, my initial negative impression turned into a more than positive one, Recommendation and would stay there again...

grazie per aver trovato il tempo di condividere la Sua esperienza presso il Monte Generoso. Siamo davvero molto felici che non si sia lasciato sopraffare dalla prima impressione! Dietro ogni cosa, solitamente c'è tanto lavoro, dedizione e passione. E nel nostro caso vi è veramente molto di tutte queste caratteristiche.
L'improvvisazione, poi, nonè mai tale, anzi racchiude una capacità di cogliere al volo esigenze e necessità che spesso il cliente non vuole dire ma che occhi e orecchie attenti non si lasciano sfuggire... Grazie per aver saputo apprezzare i dettagli e non solo del panorama.
Le ricordiamo che questo sarà il nostro we di chiusura con i ticket al 50% e che riapriremo il 7 dicembre per dare il via alla stagione invernale... un'ottima occasione per lo scambio degli auguri nel grotto Buffet Bellavista che sarà aperto, come il self-service al Fiore di pietra, tutti i weekend e tutti i giorni nel periodo natalizio - 24 dicembre/6 gennaio.
