Went for a lovely walk into Portinscale and was very sad to see that the Dandelion cafe has now ceased trading. This was a great cafe with stunning views onto Derwent Water and it will greatly missed. The grounds are now only open to hotel residents with no public access. The hotel information board did say that the restaurant is... More

I'm sad to report that there is a sign at the roadside by the main entrance saying that the cafe has 'ceased trading'. There is a lot of competition about, including just down the road at Lingholme. But I enjoyed Dandelion, which had superb views of the lake from the terrace.

The variety of different tea selection at the Dandelion is great, superb location, right next to Lake Derwentwater, gorgeous cakes and friendly staff

We dropped in here while on a walk from Keswick to Borrowdale and back via Cat Bells and had lunch. Unfortunately, it was drizzling and cool so couldnt sit out in the open air and admire the views of the Lake. However, the service indoors was great; Jacket potatoes with various fillings and salad were hot and filling and the... More

Had lunch here today with a friend, the paninis were great, really crusty and fresh bread. Lots of filling too and a good choice. The views across Derwent Water are probably the best feature of the cafe

This cafe is part of the HF hotel in Keswick and has fantastic grounds overlooking the lake. The menu is full of nice calorific treats and the normal range of beverages. The walled garden is also worth a tour. Recommended before you get into the hassle bustle of Keswick itself.

thoroughly enjoyed our coffe and scones at the Dandelion. It's a beautiful location and the staff were very helpful. A splendid place to visit and on a good day you can sit outside and enjoy the wonderful view.

Stopped for a tea and scone here - as others have said beautiful view over lake and well groomed gardens. Tea was nice although served in strange handless cups seemed very dated and pointless. The scones are definitely to be avoided fresh from the microwave dry and claggy ....!
