Andoni Adúriz is the inspiration of young chefs all over the world. In this beautiful in the mountains, innovation is the hardcore objective since the beginning of this century. Service is so cool and relaxed. Nobody interested in food should miss a meal here.

Why do we eat out? Or more importantly perhaps, what are our expectations when we eat out? From a certain class of restaurant we expect a certain class of service, atmosphere, a little something extra... but what about the food? If you're paying say $400 per person for dinner, how willing are you to have your culinary boundaries pushed a... More

considering the reputation one would expect an experience that exceeds expectations - but no: many people serving but not able to explain in english what we were eating - the wine glasses were removed while not empty - of the 23 small dishes about 1/3 is indeed excellent (1 star) about 1/3 is ok and about 1/3 is below expectations... Mugaritz is an odd one and is only justified for true foodies. If you and your family eat in a 2-3 Michelin star restaurants once a year for a special event and want food you will remember forever (ie. A succulent piece of beef), Mugaritz is not the place. The food here is too complex, flavors are far too out... More

This restaurant was rated N0 4 in the world when we visited and the service, friendliness and mystery of the courses supported this assessment. It was amazing to have edible cutlery with such attentive service

I specifically trekked to San Sebastian with a girlfriend to dine at Arzak a few years ago, when it was ranked #5 in the world on San Pellegrino's list and it was an amazing! It was worth every penny! My return to San Sebastian this time is with my parents and husband. I've raved about the amazing gastronomy and was... More

Technically the food is complex and tries to be very clever, but it fails the basic test of having to taste good. Suffice to say I did NOT enjoy my meal at all despite preparing myself to be open about the experience. To me, Some, if not most, flavours were uncompromising, badly edited/balanced and ill-conceived especially for a restaurant of... More

Visited the much applauded Mugaritz yesterday with a few of my friends. As a restaurant trends researcher, I have traveled to over 70 countries and have eaten in a fair share of Michelin 2/3 stars restaurants as well as those ranked in the world's top 50 restaurant listing. Never had I received such a juxtaposing dining experience until I dined... More

My friends and I ate here last Nov. 2, 2016. I would have given it 5 stars had it cost about 50 euro but at 180+ euro, I'd give this just 2-1/2 stars given the impression I got (3 stars were just the available score choices above so..) The problem was not the technical presentation nor the quality of the... More
