I was on a bike tour in the beautiful mountains around Piglio and a barman suggested this restaurant. Couldn’t be a better suggestion. Once there, no need to read the menu, let the owner propose the best of the day, a rich variety of succulent...pasta, after an explosion of taste from his selection of cold cut and cheese. Local wine “Cesanese” soooo good!! But sadly only a sip cause I had to drive .
Visited this restaurant September 2016. Excellent meal served with wine and dessert. Service was great. Owner/chef served us, there were three of us, with one speaking Italian, and we had the antipasto and two shared a spaghetti. Everything was great.
About an hour's drive from Rome, you come across the wine growing area of Piglio. We were taken to La Cantinetta - da Gianfranco, introduced to Gianfranco and had the best Italian meal of our lives. The antipasto was a mixture of delicious cooked meats,...bruschetta with olive oil to die for, bufalo mozzarella, ricotta, other cheeses, salami and other amazing bits and pieces. Then we were treated to home made pasta with truffle, then meat with Italian green vegetables and home made chips!!!! The wine was amazing, the service was excellent. We entered the restaurant at 1pm and left at 4pm. There was no rush and loved the fact that we had time to digest our food before the next course arrived. It's an informal restaurant and a place that you feel at home in. I can't recommend it enough.More
Staying in Fiuggi for a couple of days we decided to move a little bit in the area and finished to find this little awesome restaurant. The name "restaurant" is not appropriate: you feel like being home and the owner, Gianfranco, is a really kind...man, more interested in taking care of the customer, rather than getting money from him (he even made us pay less than the full price!!!)
Let's move to food: fantastic.
Starter for 2 people: Salami, Ham, Bruschette with Lardo, ricotta, melted cheese, zucchini & eggplants and.... Bresaola with a delicious cream of truffles!!
After the starter, we decided to eat just pasta (we saw passing the plates of another table and thought it was wise not to order even a second course): we both chase egg-homemade pasta, one "Gricia&Truffle" (bacon, pecorino cheese and truffle) and one "Pachino tomatoes and Pecorino"; result: I'd hardly eaten something more natural and at the same time delicious!
We were sorry we couldn't eat more but we're definately sure it'd have been great too.
For dessert Gianfranco is happy to offer some biscuits and a local red wine to taste with (to remark, not counted in the bill). Two coffees and a limoncello(even this last one offered by the man). At this point we were ready to pay any amount of money for that lunch, so we were satisfied; and, surprise! we were even more when we read the bill was just of 30€!
I'm italian but I wanted to write this in English to make stranger people aware of it: if you have the possibility to reach this place and you want to taste excellent homemade food, DO IT.More
