We had Sunday Lunch and it was hands down the best Sunday lunch we’ve ever had. We had heard so much about Homestead and we were not disappointed. The menu was perfect, something for everyone and the value for money is just incredible. The food...really was sensational and such generous portions. Don’t miss out on this place!More

We had an absolutely enchanting experience at this restaurant! Our lunch was nothing short of exquisite, and the ambiance was truly amazing. This place is a hidden gem where you can savor authentic local treasures and products. The warm, cozy atmosphere, complete with a fireplace,...shielded us from the wind and rain. With every bite, you could taste the passion of the chefs. The lady serving us made us feel right at home. A truly romantic and memorable dining experience.More

Amazing place, perfect balance of great food, ambience and excellent service. Given this is a relatively new restaurant I think it is definitely one to watch. Everything about the evening was simply perfect.

Just a hop and a skip from the Cliffs of Moher. As you wend your way down the coast road towards Doolin, slow the car for the panorama of the Aran Island on your left, but don't miss Homestead Cottage set slightly back from the...road on the Atlantic Ocean side with parking out front and a fabulous food experience awaiting you inside. Homestead Cottage has a traditional flagstone floor, the smell of a turf fire on a misty day and the herbs gathered in bunches to dry on the wood mantel. These are all the sights, sounds and smells of Ireland’s traditional west coast and Wild Atlantic Way ready wrap you in a welcoming embrace as you step through the bright porch into the soft candle-lit restaurant. There are three dining spaces, the bright cosy cubby inside on the left for couples and small groups, the main dining area adjacent to the fire place, and an additional dining room through the traditional timber door with an iron cottage door latch. I visited with my two friends who both have a passion for great food and a variety of cuisines. So I'd put off our visit until we were all available. Ireland has had a very damp, dreich, misty few weeks - soft days as they say in Ireland - and this Thursday in late July was no different which prevented us taking in the sea air on the tables outside. Instead we entered a warm, welcoming space and were seated in the main dining room adjacent the beautiful classic cottage cast iron stove emitting the unmistakable scent of smouldering turf. Comfortably settled we chose the staff-recommended French Sauvignon Blanc which is without hesitation the BEST Sauvignon Blanc we have ever had. So light and smooth, off to a great start. It was lunchtime, so we were looking for something tasty but not too heavy, and that's what we got. There's really no point sharing the menu with you as it changes daily depending on what's FRESH, IN SEASON and LOCALLY available. No food miles here. I opted for Fiona Haughs Lamb " Kofta" Green Herbs Bulgur, Yogurt, Pickles, Salted Cucumber & Sourdough - €18. Beautifully tender flavoursome lamb, reminded me of travels to Greece years ago, a lovely balanced plate. My friends had Free Range Pork Belly Nahm Jim. Pak Choi, Carrot, noodles, Peanut & Sourdough - €17 so well rendered, full of flavour and that much beloved crunch and Chana Dal Red Lentil & Chickpea, Liz's Cauliflower, Yoghurt, Mint & Sourdough - 16€. My friend refused to share it, so I’ll have to go back and try it for myself! The portions are perfectly balanced and nourishing without leaving us over-full or with food waste. All three dishes were immaculately presented in a timely fashion, perfectly cooked and there wasn't one single thing any of us could say that would improve our fare. We couldn’t pass on a chocolate brownie shared between us, just "to be sure" and it hit the mark perfectly. Not too rich, not too sweet, delicious chucks of superb quality chocolate - it was like the Goldilocks of desserts. l've got to admit that whenever I recommend trying a new place to my two friends, I am fearful it will be a let down. But in this particular case, everything and I do mean EVERYTHING exceeded the bar we had mentally set in our heads. There's a comforting personal touch in the decor and place settings from the attractive plates, wildflowers and candles on the table to the caring staff and the chef who is truly interested to know you if you enjoyed his food. I'm sure that Homestead Cottage will be a roaring success. There are other places locally who purport to serve this quality of food, but this is the first restaurant that l've visited that actually lives up to that standard on all 4 of our dishes as well as the with the wine, service, cleanliness and decor. There's no hit or miss here, it all HIT. Right on the bullseye. I live locally in Co Clare and this will be my Number 1 place to eat and I don't see anything knocking it off the top spot for some time to come. There's no ego-driven chef/ owner, no price gouging with sub-standard food, tiny portions and high prices. Homestead Cottage is a visionary chef, his wife and staff delivering comforting, reassuring food perfection. I recommend all visitors to the area EAT HERE FIRST, that way you'll be able to judge the competition by the high standards set in Homestead Cottage. This is NOT a commercial style chain restaurant. I loved the fact that I could book a lunch really through their website. There’s nothing worse when you’re visiting an area, phone or rock up to the door and find there’s no availability. My friends and I had a delicious lunch, I was in great company and I know that our experience will be shared and shared because everyone thinks carefully before eating out these days and it's reassuring to know a high level of quality and experience will be delivered. Can't wait to go back again.More

The long slow savouring of the seven course menu in Homestead Cottage was a great delight, on an otherwise cold & wet Irish summer night. My favourite element was the duo of sweet desserts, as I love dessert. Having two was fantastic. Both were quite...different, with the chocolate & apricot creation reaching sublime heights of taste. The entire meal was a feast of flavours. I cannot imagine the amount of work that went into creating all the varied dishes, each with several notes within it. Plaice was served in a bright green broth with fresh peas, which was both intense and light on the palate. It was a highlight among rivals, with the crispy sardine another memorable morsel. The wines we chose were delicious, a sparkling Romanian rose was a great start, followed by a deeply yeasty organic Riesling. Yummy! I am looking forward to future indulgences at the table in this establishment..........More
