The long slow savouring of the seven course menu in Homestead Cottage was a great delight, on an otherwise cold & wet Irish summer night. My favourite element was the duo of sweet desserts, as I love dessert. Having two was fantastic. Both were quite different, with the chocolate & apricot creation reaching sublime heights of taste. The entire meal was a feast of flavours. I cannot imagine the amount of work that went into creating all the varied dishes, each with several notes within it. Plaice was served in a bright green broth with fresh peas, which was both intense and light on the palate. It was a highlight among rivals, with the crispy sardine another memorable morsel. The wines we chose were delicious, a sparkling Romanian rose was a great start, followed by a deeply yeasty organic Riesling. Yummy! I am looking forward to future indulgences at the table in this establishment..........

We happened to read about Homestead Cottage while in Doolin and decided to see if bookings were available for the next night. We were in luck and secured a table for our requested time. On arrival we were taking a quick photo and the front staff actually noticed and came out to take one for us. She then showed us in to a homey room with fireplace and wooden tables reminiscent of a local farmhouse. We were quickly provided with the tasting menu description for the night and a starter of three types of breads with a butter and pickled vegetables plate. The sommelier also offered a glass of champagne to start. Each dish that arrived was beautifully presented and prepared with obvious care. After deciding on a wine from an interesting list of possibilities, we accidentally were poured a glass from the next table’s bottle - a very happy occurrence as we ended up bringing the diner who was solo over to our table for the rest of the evening. I mention this because it didn’t seem to fluster the staff at all and they adjusted the pace so that we finished our desserts together. Back to the food - each course was delicious and different, all in all one of the most enjoyable meals we have experienced. I was dreaming of the lobster dish and the strawberry dessert long after leaving! Certainly worthy of their Michelin star. We would make the trip to the Doolin area again just to have dinner! Thank you to all of the staff for memorable evening.

Our dinner experience in Homestead was exceptional. You immediately feel like family as you walk in to the cottage, complete with wooden tables, a hearth, beautiful warm lighting and staff that are welcoming, professional and knowledgable about the local food provenance. The meals were outstanding, and with an ever changing menu that is dominated by local, seasonal produce, you could come to homestead cottage every week and have a wonderfully original dining experience. This is where the best chefs and restauranteurs in the country come for a meal, and one can see why.

Very overrated and not Michelin Star worthy. We arrived to a pitch dark carpark covered in rough gravel with no lighting at the outside area at all, borderline dangerous. The food was very portentous, tasing menu of 8 courses not biger than a mouthful ( dessert spoon size ) which lacked in flavour and presentation creativity. One of the chefs served some of the courses and explained the dish as he was serving, one was rhubarb that was ripened in his shed for a year and the only light it saw was candle light.... The beef course was a small piece of gristly rib eye standing a little upright. The time that we were left waiting between each course was another thing I really would like to forget about. Overall a mediocre meal at a high cost of E95 per person, not good enough this day and age Michelin Star or not. Overall a very disappointing experience and like I said defiantly not Michelin Star worthy, someone got it wrong somewhere ? Will not be back....

Went for Sunday lunch with friends. Unfortunately, ours was not a Michelin Star experience - the main courses were a big letdown. Pork belly was a thick slice of fat with a bite-sized piece of meat. We had to send our first one back as the pork was dangerously under cooked. The medium-well rump of beef was tough as old boots and most of it left behind. There’s nothing star worthy about mashed carrots and parsnips or roast potatoes. Starters (especially the celeriac velouté) and Desserts were better but not enough to redeem the meal. Weak coffee was served in two carafes at €8 a pop. The chef didn’t come out to the tables as mentioned in other reviews. I wonder was he even working on the day? Would not recommend.

Visited here for Sunday Lunch. We had booked in advance and were put in a back room which was cold. No atmosphere although the front part was busy. A young chef brought our food which surprised us as we thought the owner was the chef. Before we left we discovered that he was actually the chef but was doing front of house that day. My choice of starter was gone and I didn't like the other option and I was reluctantly offered another after consulting in the kitchen to see what was available. My husband ordered his beef medium which was served rare. Took ages to get a bill as the owner was talking to another couple and had no interest in bringing it even though he was asked by our waiter. Eventually we got up and paid on our way out. It was a very bad afternoon and when we went out to the car park all the lights were off and it was pitch black. Needed the torch from our phone to get to he car. Overall it was a very bad experience which we will not be repeating. We certainly didn't feel welcomed. Finally the room we were in was very shabby with an old curtain pulled across a patio door and very cold

I’ve been a bartender/ bar manager for about 10 years and get pretty critical about steps of service. The service at Homestead Cottage alone was impeccable, let alone the phenomenal food. These people love what they do and their passion added so much to the dishes. The setting is within a fantastical Irish cottage and the staff made us feel like we were visiting friends. Can’t speak highly enough about this place. Healed my cold bartender heart.

It was an absolutely lovely meal. We were two couples for dinner, and the ambiance, service, and food were outstanding! Initially, we were skeptical about the three-hour duration, but by the end, we were settled and ready for the bill exactly at the three-hour mark. Throughout the evening, we never felt rushed or delayed. While the restaurant boasts a Michelin star, it maintains a relaxed and inviting atmosphere rather than overly posh and uptight. The service was exquisite and friendly. They provided detailed descriptions of each dish, emphasizing their commitment to sourcing ingredients locally with a motto of 'grown, not flown' from their garden or nearby farms. We had informed them beforehand about one vegetarian in our group and that none of us drink alcohol. The way they seamlessly substituted vegetables for meat or fish for one person was impressively strategic and delicious. Only one dish, out of the many served, differed substantially from the others, as it wasn't conducive to a vegetarian version. Also, don't hesitate to indulge in the first course of their bread—it's outstanding! Their sommelier was incredibly knowledgeable. Because none of us drink alcohol, she curated a unique beverage pairing menu for us, explaining the rationale behind each pairing with our dishes. Every selection complemented the menu beautifully. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would definitely recommend it!

Very disappointed for this new Michelin star restaurant. We were a table of 4 to begin we never received bread and had to ask for it, the chef Brian presents the dishs and tells you about each course, he seemed to treat us differently from to other tables as we could hear him speaking to customers. To be honest it was over priced. We were celebrating a birthday and emailed in advance but there was no acknowledgement of the request on the night or the email.

My Husband and I dined here on February 15th 2024, The food was very good but the restaurant was cold and the seating was so uncomfortable, we sat for over 3 hours , I asked the server could the courses come quicker as we had 20-25 minutes between a lot of the courses , we now had our jackets on and blankets provided by the restaurant around our legs , it completely ruined our dining experience, it’s a pity because the food was really good , I told the head server when we were leaving of our experience, I explained if you want people to sit for that length of time the restaurant owner needs to invest in proper seating ,she agreed saying they had inherited the seating from the previous owner . It made me think did this chef and owner not sit in the seating himself to get the overall experience of his diners after all is it not the complete dining experience that’s important here ?? I emailed my observations to the restaurant making sure I was balanced and fair, because the food was very good , I still haven’t got a reply which is very disappointing Can’t understand how this restaurant was Michelin starred !!,is it not based on overall experience, We will never return to this restaurant

I have eaten here a number of times since this restaurant opened. We were delighted when they won a Michelin star as it is so well earned, the couple behind this work incredibly hard to give you the best of experiences I believe that both lunch and dinner, and the wines on offer are of incredibly value, if people understand the work and price of good food they would be calling this place expensive or overpriced. Over the 6 times we have been in the last 9 months we have never been disappointed, I wonder are some of these negative reviews real or of a different restaurant as me personally cannot believe they are talking about homestead cottage.

My daughter and I were recommended by a staff member of The Park Hotel in Killarney this restaurant, one Michelin star. He mentioned the chef, Robbie, was his cousin, married to Sophie, who is French. .The tasting menu served was delicious, the serving sizes were the perfect size, and the sommelier, Cecile, was delightfully enthusiastic explaining the wines she orders for the establishment. All food served is locally sourced, unpretentious, feel at home relaxed setting.

The place continues to impress us. This was our third visit and our first evening experience Each time has been an improvement on the last The set menu was stunning and in essence well worth the €105 especially if compared to a steak house in Limerick where three course meals sets you back €60-70. Our friends from England were ecstatic about it and they frequently eat at Michelin places in France and UK. The Sommelier was excellent and the bread to die for Will be back

Absolutely amazing food. The flavour combinations, the variety of textures, immaculately plated, every plate is like a work of culinary art. The imagination behind the wonderful tasting menu we experienced was evidence of a master chef, in his prime, enjoying his work and at one with local ingredients and producers. Everything locally sourced, from wildly foraged berries and mushrooms and pristine vegetables and herbs from the kitchen garden to cheeses, lamb and fish and lamb from local producers. Even the generous Bread board at the start contains a selection of signature Breads all prepared in house by Robbie, Sophie and the team. Service was exceptional also, friendly but courteous, and dishes being delivered to the table with perfect timing all evening. An unforgettable experience. Thanks guys.

A newly opened Restaurant serving quality food. Robbie ( Chef) has hit the Spot with his local produced food on the menu. We had the lunch option and chose Hake and Free Range Pork which was delightful in a traditional farmhouse environment. Pavlova to finish with was also great.
