Food only OK - price gave us something to laugh about. So we visited Glas when we were staying in Doolin in a nearby house while visiting the area. It had been booked in advance and it should be said that it was off season....Glas is part of the Doolin Hotel. There were no prices displayed neither at the entrance of the restaurant nor the menu and at no time did staff explain that we would be charged by the number of courses we chose. When we arrived there were only two other parties eating there - both foreign tourists. There were 8 in the party and the choice on the menu seemed reasonable. We all had starter and main course, two of us also had desert. One carafe of wine. We had two vegetarians in the group and there was only a single option for main course for them. Ultimately was a slice of roasted cauliflower. The food was tasty but no one was blown away by any of the courses. The scallops were nice, slightly over done. The group were generally pleased with the crab salad starter. Pork belly was tasty. The lamb did not stand out for anyone and the creme brûlée, while nice, was thin, and compared to one I'd had at a fish restaurant further up the coast earlier that day was under par. The white wine (Chateau Pequie Blanc) was under chilled. As I said we hadn't been told at the beginning of the meal how the it would be priced - but we figured it would be worth in or around the quality the set up was implying by the venue and menu. We split the bill when it arrived without too much dissection but all commented that for what you got it was generally over priced. It wasn't until afterwards we checked and found that: 2 courses €40 3 courses €45 Assuming that the starters came in at about €15 a head, that meant that the slice of Cauliflower for the vegetarian main course cost €25. Our group we would regularly visit restaurants together of all types, prestige and quality and we have paid far more for meals than at Glas but we all felt that the quality vs price was a joke. I don't really write reviews, but the overall expectation that Glas seemed to promise its customers was so at odds with the actual experience I felt I needed to share. Sorry if I've gotten boring. Cannot recommend.More

We went with a Doolin on a plate offer which for €99 gives you 4 courses for two people and a bottle of organic wine. It was just incredible. On arrival we met Rodrigo who showed us to our seat and gave us a glass...of Cava. Rodrigo is very knowledgeable about where the food is sourced and is so enthusiastic about his job,it was a pleasure to be in his company. I had the soup, steak and creme brulee and they were amazing. I never ever eat 3 courses, I would usually stick to main and share the rest but it was all so good. The presentation of the Tomato soup showed it was made with a lot of love and attention. The bread was also so good I had to stop myself eating it all. The steak was cooked to perfection. The creme brulee was like air. We both agreed it was just a fab evening, the restaurant is so beautiful and Rodrigo is a brilliant asset to Hotel Doolin. Can't wait to return and give as a gift to someoneMore

Bar restaurant at the hotel was full so Glas was recommended to us, we had no prior knowledge of the restaurant so didn’t know what to expect. What a surprise we had with the quality of the food. Good quality locally sourced ingredients with thought...put into combining simple flavours to create a really good food experience. Have to add that we were looked after by Debbie who was so welcoming and lovely. Thank you.More

Glas was recommended to us, when another local restaurant was full. Well, we got the best of that deal. Glas has newly reopened, has a menu that uses locally sourced foods, has hired a new chef and it truly the best food we have had,...during our first week in Ireland. Truly a lovely surprise! Highly recommend Glas.More

…..like we did! Booked Glas restaurant months ago for a special birthday dinner for a friend. At 4 O clock on the actual day, the hotel rang to say we would be eating in the bar!!!!. On further investigation it transpired the restaurant has been...closed for months - but sharp practice just informed us literally when we couldn’t get a reservation anywhere else. Last time any of us will spend money in Hotel Doolin or Armada.More

The restaurant is a quiet, lovely and very good. As starters we had a parsley risotto with some fried black potatoes and oranges confits. Main course was an roast onion and the other one was a Shiitake. It is as you may have guessed a...vegan/vegetarian restaurant, and our first experience in one of these. We loved it!More

We had the pleasure to dine at Glas restaurant last Sunday evening and everything including the food, drinks, staff and atmosphere was top quality. One of my friends at the table was vegan and chef prepared a special dishes to accommodate her which were delicious...( we made note of that at the time of our reservation). We were welcomed by complimentary drink of cava and looked after by the sweetest and kindest waitress Vesna. Her knowledge of food and wine was superb! We were also checked on by the hotel manager Donal, who made sure we had a great night! It was my first time eating scallops which were cooked to perfection and will be back for sure! Can’t recommend it enough!More
