Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Food, service and ambiance ! We had the 3 course tasting menu and every single bite was a delight. We had the smoked mackerel, foie gras, duck, scallops and soufflé dessert… just incredible. The oysters were the best I have ever had! Who puts apples...inside an oyster! ? Delicious. The attention to detail was impeccable and I would describe the place as fine dining but not stuffy. We felt like we were having some excellent food at a friend’s house. The wine menu was quite extensive with so many good options it made it difficult to decide. If you ever find yourself in Doolin and you enjoy culinary excellence make this place your first stop. Thank you Kieran for making us feel so welcomed and we wish you nothing but success.More

As a solo traveler, experiencing Ireland for the first time, I booked a reservation at Oar before my travels in Ireland began. I felt very welcomed by Kieran and the servers at Oar when I arrived. I experienced a delicious and wonderful culinary experience with...a three-course meal as well as extra items that they brought such as an oyster and another dish that was a palette cleanser. Experiencing Oar was a delight during my birthday week and a special culinary experience. Overall, the service was excellent, the restaurant is elegant, and the food was absolutely delicious, and a delight to experience. It was a true treat to experience the creative prowess and wonderful dining experience at Oar. I am grateful. The food combinations and culinary creativity were incredible. Thank you, Kieran and all Oar staff for a memorable and incredible experience.More

This gorgeous restaurant ticked all the boxes for me. The food was superb with enormous attention to detail by the chef. Everything was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. I liked that there was an option of a la carte as well as the tasting menu....The ambience and decor is very relaxing and we didn't feel rushed to get off the table. The staff are so lovely and friendly and from the initial contact to reserve a table with Kieran by telephone I felt welcomed and at ease and was looking forward to our visit. It is quiet unusual to have such a warm welcome in a restaurant these days and Kieran made us feel at home throughout our visit without any fuss or effort. It comes so naturally. We felt appreciated as customers and will definitely be returning. Don't miss it if you are around the area because it certainly delivers. It is good value for the food provided and the wine menu is reasonably priced. Everything about it is 5 star. Thank you everyone for a lovely night.More

The most amazing dinner I had the pleasure of experiencing in Doolin. Every detail from the S&P shakers to the amuse-bouche was divine. The service was impeccable, portions spot on, and wine was perfect. Kieran was delightful to meet and even managed to provide us...with the best smelling custom made candle ever! 10/10, can't wait to return.More

We had our anniversary dinner in the Oar restaurant. The service was amazing, really listening to our order. My wife has vinegar and wine allergy and they went above and beyond to ensure nothing they serve has these ingredients. The food was first class. All...the dishes were composed with a lot of thought and mixing various tastes and textures. Ingredients were fresh and visually the food was also very impressive. The restaurant floor was quite small, but cosy and.tha ks to the size wasn't too loud from too many people. Overall a very pleasant experience and would highly recommend for any foodie.More

Oar is a bright but cosy restaurant in the stunning Doolin Village. We had a lovely experience from start to finish. Our server welcomed us and looked after us throughout the evening. She expertly paired our drinks menu to match our food order. The Food...was fresh and flavoursome from starter to dessert, an explosion of colour and taste from each plate. We were treated to little sorbets between meals . The service was excellent and there was a comfortable amount of time between courses . At the end of the meal we didn't feel rushed out the door for the next cover of people. Overall highly recommended. We will definitely be back .More
