We thoroughly enjoyed visiting Oar for dinner for the first time recently. Where to start - Beautiful dining room, table settings, comfortable couches and the lighting was just right. The team are very friendly and the service was super. The meal was the best we...have had in a long time. The amuse bouché was delicious in particular the gruyere cheese. The breads were so fresh with the wild garlic butter adding something special. Perfect sized portions. Everything was delicious; in particular the potato and thyme soup, fennel and celery sorbet, followed by the scallops and cod and then the souffle. We would highly recommend and look forward to returning in the future. Thank you so much for a lovely evening and dining experience.More

We had failed to make an advanced reservation to enjoy the Oar Restaurant during our stay in Doolin. Luckily, there was a cancellation and my husband and I were notified. From start to finish, it was an incredible experience. The ambiance, friendly staff, presentation, and...flavors made this the best dining experience we had during our 8-day stay in Ireland. We will highly recommend this to friends and family traveling to Ireland, and we hope to visit again too!More

The wonderful experience begins as you approach this beautiful restaurant! We arrived in the dark last Sunday evening and the beautiful and meticulously maintained exterior just beamed out to us! As did the welcome on arrival. You just need to go and experience this delightful,...intimate and highly professional restaurant to actually realize how fantastic this little jewel is. I would say - probably the best food, ambience and team service/attitude/product knowledge I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Attention to detail is the key here - even down to the specially chosen scents of the (locally sourced) soaps in the restrooms to match the season! The wine list is superb (always important in our house!) and the food is beyond outstanding! It's the attention to detail in each course, local produce and outstanding flavor not to mention the added surprises in the amuse bouche! If you do one thing more in your life - you soooo have to have the raspberry soufflé! Don't be tempted to share desserts - just have this for yourself! It's our 4th visit here and we just can't wait to go back again! It is a good distance from where we live in Ennis but well worth making the trip!More

Cannot recommend highly enough. Warmly greeted by hosts, relaxed atmosphere and food and wine choices were divine. I had octopus to start and steak for main course. Friends had pate, soup, lamb, duck. All of us were delighted with our choices. Only wish we had...been hungry enough for dessert. Just one of us had the mango semi freddo. They loved it. Our 3rd time at Oar and it's improving all the time. We will be back.More

We were directed to The Oar by Marion from Sheedy’s B+B, an excellent place to stay! (Please see our review!) The owner guided us to our table and was very attentive. The food was absolutely amazing as was the choice of wine. We had a...Slovenian white which was wonderful. The whole experience was incredible and it was such a delight to find a restaurant of this quality in a small town. It is well worth seeking out but you will need reservations as it is, quite understandably, very popular.More

AMAZING meal -- one of the best I've ever eaten! Certainly worth the 60 Euro Prix Fix 2 course meal (70 for 3 courses). This would be TWICE as much in The States -- probably more as you get a lovely a-muse-bouche as well. Located...in a small hotel on the edge of Doolin, you may not expect world class cuisine -- but that's what you get from wizard chef Cezary Sodeland and owner/manager Kieran o Halloran. Small, elegant, but not pretentious room, the service was spot on from the beginning and the food just kept coming until we surrendered. The plating and quality were first rate - you almost didn't want to eat the food as it was art. Photos were a must. Starters: Seared Scallops - plumb, juicy, perfect. Crab Cannelloni - different than what you'd expect, a flavor burst in every bite. Mains: Fillet of Irish Lamb -- so tender, not gamey at all -- wish there were more as it was devoured. Black Sole - another winner -- again perfect. Dessert: Warm Blackcurrent Souffle -- you had me at "warm." Wow! This may have been our favorite meal during our two week stay in England and Ireland. Book early and come relax and elevate your taste buds.More

It is hugely difficult every night to maintain the highest standards in the toughest industry in the world. Every night we always expect a 5 star experience, even if we don’t know what that means. Every night Kieran and his team work incredibly hard and...with passion to deliver. Against such high expectation, myself and my group of 27 diners, could only expect disappointment ! But Kieran delivered. The food was memorable. The wine was delicious. The occasion left me with a sense a pride that Kieran has brought his passion and experience to bring culinary quality to his native Doolin No doubt Kieran is far from perfect but as diners neither are we ! Am hugely grateful to Kieran for making our dinner event memorable Easily one of our best dining experiences in IrelandMore
