Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a super place, full of character, fun and very tastey pizzas. It’s inside/outside place - some of tables are inside properly and some are under covered awnings with heaters. There’s great vibe with unusual tasteful and funky decor. The staff are extremely helpful...and friendly too. Loads of interesting pizza choices and delicious starters also. The only slight downside was that the music playing was very loud. However it was still a really good dinner.More

Very popular place. Staff work hard to see to everyone. Delicious pizza. Lovely thin base and a great range of toppings. Yum!

Lovely pizza, really tasty and fresh. Great range of toppings. The atmosphere in the outside area was great and still cosy even for July in Ireland! The staff were lovely and friendly too. Make sure you try the spicy honey dip!

We were told that we just HAD to go here so we made a reservation a week in advance. All we could get was outside--covered but unheated. We had a salad which was fine and a small started--bread sticks, park ham and small piece of...cheese. We ordered the Popeye pizza which cam with marscapone and Parmesan cheese. The pizza was tasty but some pieces had no cheese at all. I mentioned this when we paid and they took off the cost of the started to apologize. But she said their thin crusts just don't hold a lot of cheese. Just my preference but a pizza that advertises two cheese should have an identifiable amount of cheese. Otherwise it was tasty. Desserts looked good but we didn't have room. Again, my personal opinion but not worth fighting the crowds. Price point was good however.More

Such a great place! We had a horrible experience at the Shandon hotel and we were so glad that we cancelled our reservations there to go here! The food was better, the atmosphere was more lively and the meal was significantly cheaper than what we...paid at the Shandon. So my advice for anyone staying in Dunfanaghy -ditch the hotel restaurants and check out the gems in the town!More

The pizzas here are really, really tasty, very fresh and with really nice food topping combinations. Definitely one of the nicest if not the nicest pizzas I have ever tasted.

The rudeness of their staff stands out far beyond any other food establishment in the town. They are used to being over wanted and think that they can speak and treat people, especially those not related to the owners or workers like dirt. As a...regular visitor to Dunfanaghy I base this review on a lot more than one occurrence so I feel it is in part of the culture of Rusty Oven at this point. Arrived at 6.30pm, not all tables taken within Rusty Oven itself but preferred to sit in Patsy Dans new Outback as it is far better equipped for family. When asked for a menu we were asked where we were sitting. Told them outback to he told they were fully booked and no longer serving. They open at 5pm, supposedly only pre book a few tables to allow walk ins and still had free tables (outside) not reserved. It seems they don’t honour Dans customers. It’s so disappointing considering how Dan treats customers, the juxtaposition of their attitudes towards customers is wide. I understand how restaurants work and to be told they weren’t serving for an hour etc to clear backlog but to be told they weren’t serving anyone that wasn’t sat within Rusty Oven currently even though they had free tables, that weren’t reserved, is (as others have described on this review page) is just a bad business model. We were to order ten pizzas and dessert but are now away somewhere else. Have just been told five of the staff were out last night and are still “legless” - interesting business model indeed.More

We popped in here after many a recommendation on our road trip round Donegal. We weren’t sure exactly where it was but pulled up just behind the town square to park our camper van and low and behold the little gem was right there. A...little gem it is… quaint little place with great atmosphere, decor and lovely staff. The food is great and you can watch the chefs make the pizza right in front of you. We headed to the little bar at the front after and it also didn’t disappoint. Look forward to going back!! PS wrap up warm if you intent to sit outside as inside is usually booked up.More

My family have gone here the past few years that we’ve stayed in dunfanaghy and we really enjoyed the experience this year too, any pizza fanatic like myself will LOVE this restaurant. The sourdough is absolutely incredible and our waiter was friendly and helpful, they...even have some gluten free options. Since there weren’t any bookings available we had to wait for a seat for about an hour, so if you are planning on going, make sure to book your seats at least a few months before.More

A nice experience. Gorgeous garlic bread matched with tasty piece. Very obliging with a Birthday Brownie for one of our friends. Good professional service. The only fly in the ointment was the payment method and process!. As cards we’re not accepted, it was cash only,...and a quirky visit to queue up in a separate building to pay.More

Second year in a row that we’ve been messed around by this amateur-hour restaurant. This year we booked an early table as we’re here on holiday with our toddler, received the text the day before to confirm and promptly replied to confirm (and received the...confirmation back) and then showed up to a locked up restaurant. When we asked in the attached bar we were told they’d “decided not to open.” No contact received from them to cancel but apparently “sure it’s on their Facebook.” Totally raging that we wasted our time driving here to be messed around and now we’re driving round Donegal looking for dinner with our kid. Last year was a pretty similar situation. Pizzas are pretty doughy and overloaded with toppings anyway but there’s so little choice in Dunfanaghy and the bar attached has great Guinness so it’s the only reason we tried to go again this year. Avoid.More

Hi if I remember correctly you can turn up but if more than six you can book. Either way you’re bound to enjoy it. A very relaxed atmosphere.
