Having read other reviews we booked about a week in advance and it was well worth it. For dinner, we were seated in the Oyster Bar. The menu is extensive, can't imagine anyone having problems finding something to eat. The seafood chowder was fantastic, so filling. It's listed as a starter but it's a lot of food. All the dishes were of a high standard. The service was really good and you can see straight away the efforts they have gone to for Covid. There is plenty of space between tables, the doors are left open and the staff are very well trained. You can't go wrong booking at Lizzies.

Booked Lizzie for our evening meal as we had been warned to as otherwise we would be disappointed. It’s a cafe restaurant and serves food all day. I had been told they are well know in the area for their stakes so I was looking forward to going. We booked for 8.30 and were warmly greeted on arrival. I am very fussy about how I like my stake cooked, just off blue and said to the unsuspecting waitress that if it was not right it would be going back she was not fazed at all and said it would not be an issue, by the way my wife loves all things fish and ordered the Sea Bass. The starter we chose was the King prawn and calamari and very good it was too. The mains arrived and looked fantastic the waitress ask me to cut into my stake to make sure it was cooked to my requirement(a first for me and a sign of confidence), It was perfect in fact it was most likely one of the best stakes I have ever had, it was superb and the Sea bass my wife had was perfect as well. By the way the stake was a 9oz Fillet and at 23euro all in was fantastic value as well. The Cafe is not fussy it’s simple it trades on its quality of food and the inspiring staff. Lizzies you have done Dunfanaghy and Donegal proud.

We called impromptu into The Oyster Bar to see if we could eat at Lizzie’s Diner. We were seated and advised an outside but warm table could be found within the half hour. 15 minutes later we had a great seat in the marquee and our order taken. Chicken schnitzel was so tender and tasty. Sea bass fillets were beautiful and served with creamy mash and lovely prawn and spinach sauce and fresh veg ( perhaps a bit over cooked). Chicken and bacon stack was huge and tasty and spicy chicken tagliatelle was much enjoyed. A well run set up that I’d very much recommend. Great value too with excellent service. Well done Lizzie’s Diner!!

Have been a regular in Lizzie’s for many years and have always been happy with the service and quality of the food until tonight - staff were as friendly and helpful as always however the menu has stunk since out last visit as has the quality of the food - it’s now more a upmarket chipper rather than the diner of old. Very little fresh or grilled items on the menu. My partner has the burger and I had the steak, both were well presented however the steak was fatty and the chips serve with both dishes were luke warm. We shared a desert, apple pie - which was mass produced and nothing like the deserts of old. Overall we were very disappointed with the food and Will think twice before returning which is sad as Lizzie’s has always been our go to place when in Dunfanaghy. Also dinner is served till 8pm on week nights and 8:30pm at weekend which is also seems strange for a restaurant in a busy tourist town in high season.

Lizzies came highly recommended from our hosts in Creeslough and didn't disappoint! The chowder was beautiful and the kids fish and chips absolutely fab! Everything made to order from beautiful fresh produce. Great value for money and really lovely homely surroundings from really lovely staff who took time to chat despite being a very busy Friday night sitting. Well worth a visit if in Dunfanaghy! 5stars highly recommend and would definitely come back!

Called to book a table at Lizzie's Today for 5.30 and it was no problem. My husband had the fish and chips and I had a beautiful starter as I was only peckish on the hot day. My 1 year old was with us and he had a baby bowl. The service was mighty and the food was very tasty. We left and walked over the town and later on I fancied a bulmers and a sit down outside Lizzie's and some ice cream for the baba. I asked inside if this was on and the lady was more than helpful. She even added marshmallow pieces to the the ice cream. It is the little things that make a difference. Great visit and I highly recommend. 😎😍

On our last night in Dunfanaghy we had a memorable meal at Lizzie’s with our son, his wife, and their two boys aged 5 and 7. The meal was memorable for the quality of the food and the warmth of the service. My chowder was to die for and my wife felt the same about her sea bream. The two children were well catered for by the children’s menu and were made to feel most welcome. And the wine, served by the quarter bottle was excellent. All in all, a fitting farewell to beautiful Donegal.

Nicest place to eat in Dunfanaghy, the restaurant is attached on to the oyster bar which had trad music playing both times we visited. Really feel good vibes, staff exceptional and food outstanding! Our first visit we got Fish & Chips 10/10 Second visit I got vegetarian pasta unreal- best I've ever tasted! Hubby had the chicken burger he said it was the best he's ever tasted also! Always full & buzzing, says it all. Try to pre book if possible to avoid disappointment as it is always busy!

As a family of 6 we made a last minute decision to eat in Lizzie’s. The quality of food, atmosphere and service was exceptional. The variety of choice on the menu was superb. It was clear food is prepared freshly and is of very high quality. There were a lot of staff on ensuring service was swift and nothing was too much trouble for them. It was excellent value for money- we would definitely highly recommend Lizzie’s diner.

Our first meal out post lockdown, and Lizzie's didn't disappoint. Staff are wearing visors, tables are spaced out, and tables and chairs are sanitised when diners leave. Otherwise, it's business as usual. Fab food, friendly service, good prices, bring your own wine. Can't wait to go back.

Travelled from Downings to here to try it out as I’d heard so many good reports of the food. Had a very late morning small breakfast which at €8 was good value. My wife had the seafood chowder which she said knocked stars out of all the other places in the area. Glass of Pinot Grigio, chowder, tea, small breakfast €25. One very happy customer.

Can’t believe I’ve lived close to here all my life and never been in! My partner and I decided to go in on a Sunday eve on a whim and we were beyond impressed. Unfortunately we didn’t get starters but for our mains we had breast of chicken and a steak sandwich and they were both 10/10! The service was excellent, the menu was broad, the food came quick and everything was so tasty from start to finish. I had a banoffee pie for dessert then which tasted home made and was so delish and light! I’ll definitely be back to work my way through the menu! Coming from someone who would usually only like one or two things in a place, there was at least 3 mains items I’d get here!

On a week long family holiday we ate out each night in Donegal at restaurants recommended by friends and family. Lizzies was the pick of the bunch. Lizzies is a restaurant attached to The Oyster Bar in Dunfanaghy, where they serve the same menu as Lizzies. The service in Lizzies was great. Friendly, informative and welcoming staff helped us all settle in quickly. However the food is the star of the show. We ordered several starters and they were all brilliant, particularly the seafood chowder which was outstanding. The mains were even better. My steak was cooked to perfection and the peppercorn sauce it was served with was delicious. The kids meals were all great too and the staff looked after them well. The drinks were all great- lovely wine selection and the Guinness coming out of The Oyster was lovely and creamy. We enjoyed the meal so much we went back again to enjoy the same menu in The Oyster a few days later.

Four of us from England stayed in Dunfanaghy for one night on a three week driving trip that saw us do the whole of the Causeway coast and Atlantic way. Lizzie's diner gave us the best meal in the whole trip, bar none; and we ate out every day. The fresh fish chowder was absolutely delicious, with generous portions. It was a warm and friendly cafe / restaurant with a bar through an arch that later became a night club with dancing. A multi-faceted facility for locals. Very helpful and friendly staff. What a find in a place that is rarely frequented by tourists, such as us.
