I visited the Cove in September. I had been a couple of years ago but they have changed the menu layout completely. It was exceptional! They now use the upstairs and downstairs for dining and there was ample space for social distancing. They now have...small plates and big plates so had more of a tapas feel to the menu. Every dish was perfect. We had Scotch Eggs, Lamb Kofta, Local Mackerel, Tempura Prawns and Seabass. I would highly recommend trying this place out.More

We had a wonderful meal here, seated upstairs in the eaves with a lovely view over the bay as the sun set. It was very busy (full in fact) so service was maybe a bit brisk, but friendly, and the food was very well executed...with great flavours. We were a little confused by the instructions when we arrived. We were asked to take a photo of the menu near the door to maintain a contactless menu, but I didn't really understand this as it was very noisy and the Covid masks make it difficult to decipher... Anyway, a small issue and our waiter provided us with a hard copy menu eventually. Would recommend. Definitely one of the best dining experiences in the Dunfanaghy/ Portnablagh area.More

We recently ate at the Cove whilst staying in the nearby Shandon Hotel. The restaurant is a short drive from the hotel and well worth a visit. We visited mid-week and were lucky to get a table on the same day as booking, very easy...to book through website. We received a warm welcome on arrival and due to Covid took photos of the menu, explained the relaxed tapas style of the restaurant although if requested they can change this based on personal preference and shown to our table. We ordered one small plate as a starter and 2 large for our mains, it was the perfect amount of food for us and we even fit in a desert!! Very reasonably priced, great service and lovely view whilst eating. Really enjoyed and would highly recommend!!More

We managed to get one of the last slots for dinner while on holiday in Donegal (booked a week in advance). Very attentive perhaps overly attentive? Owner who walked around to the tables during the night to check in on how people were enjoying their...meals. Just a personal preference- I’m sure other people like that level of attention. We had some tasty dishes such as mussels & sea bass. Wine was the nicest we had all trip. If we hadn’t eaten in Bonnan bui in Rathmullan we probably would have been raving about this place but both of us felt the food in An Bonnan Bui was superb and was superior to Cove. Having said that it was an enjoyable evening and is a lovely romantic venue.More

We have a very good meal the food was delicious but the service could've been better. One main and a side were forgotten and milk and sugar wasn't brought out with the tea. Just something to note

Ate her with another couple (Aug 2020). From moment we arrived, staff could not be more attentive. Peter, the maitre d was extremely attentive & helpful. Menu is temporarily Tapas based because of COVID-19 but choice is extremely wide. Starter dishes consisted of a mix...of Tempura prawns & goats cheese (both of which we would drive back 100 miles for!). Mains dishes included lamb & steak which were beautiful. Decent wine list. First time at the Cove but not the last!More

This is actually a combined review as we've twice in the last 8 days. Tapas and sharing plates are a great favourite and we loved the scotch eggs, the chicken dippers and a ham hock croquette sounded boring, but was actually excellent. The wine list...is interesting, though it is typical of Irish restaurants in that the mark-up is quite steep. Lots of good beers on offer - they now have Kinnegar Scraggy Bay on draft, which is always good. On my second visit there were some more traditional types in the group and the menu worked just as well starters and main courses, though I stuck with three plates - my favourites from the week before. The staff have always been good at The Cove and I think the changes forced by C19 have actually made it a better dining experience.More

Ate at The Cove last weekend. We were really lucky as I had made reservation for the following week in error but someone had just cancelled. The owner was very welcoming & explained how many dishes we might eat. There is a mix of small...& large plates. Everyone of them was delicious & it was wonderful to get to taste so many dishes. Hard to pick a favourite but the bouillabaisse was one of the best I have ever tasted. We ordered one dessert between 3 of us( we were full at this stage!) but it was so delicious we ordered a second. We will be back next time we are in the area. The art in the restaurant is very interesting & a good talking point.More

It's an intimate space over two floors so it's difficult to say possibly 30-40? But they will be happy to advise I am sure!
