Poppy's is perfectly perfect we had 2cokes and I had the carnation chicken roll and my partner had the cheese and ham roll I never had a carnation roll like it they toasted it in the oven every bite was delicious it was so tasty my partner said his roll was gorgeous.
I then had a Portuguese custard tart and he had the apple pie heated with cream .
I paid €20 for all . We had it outside at one of their tables it was an amazing atmosphere because the sets are being built for The new Disney movie Disenchanted .Poppies you run a fab business and your food is also fab .Can't wait to come back to your amazing Cafe .keep doing what your doing Poppies is a credit to you ❤️

Poppies seemed popular when we arrived, plenty of people around and both indoor and outdoor seating. The food looked inviting and the cakes and coffee were very good indeed. This was our third visit to Poppies and it’s very consistent. My only negative comment is that the staff always seem grumpy, not rude or anything like that, just in bad form and it always feels like that. I assume it’s because they are always quite busy and they do appear to work very hard but a smile and a welcome doesn’t cost anything.

Dear TCD4567,
Just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to write your review.
I'm happy your food and coffee were up to scratch but I'm at a loss as to why the guys were 'grumpy'. Sometimes, we get overwhelmed and are not as friendly as we should be. It's something for us to work on.
Again thanks
Warm Regards

We love love love Poppies! Every time we are in Ireland and our favorite town of Enniskerry, we visit Poppies. We love their scones, jam and desserts and just the small town feel of it all. We were really bummed out because we visited about a week ago to find the doors locked but with customers inside. Tried knocking but no one answered - must have had something going on. Really wanted to buy some jam but I guess there's always next time.

Dear Brandon,
Firstly sorry for the delay in replying. I'm not sure what time of the day you visited but this is clearly unusual. On occasion customers sometimes inadvertently lock the door by mistake, I truly hope this was not the case!!
I hope to see you next time you visit Ireland
Warm Regards

We travelled from South Wicklow to have lunch in Poppies, a cafe that we held dear to our hearts. Fond memories of great country cooking and lovely friendly staff. Well, this was a total let down. The food was pre made, the portions outrageously small and lacking any flavour or quality. We opted for sandwiches, wraps toasted?? and coffees. My wife had to ask twice for her tuna melt to be actually melted. Even then, after the second time of receiving it, it was handed to her cold. This is a case of an establishment living off past glories but we should have guessed, as it was the only eatery in Enniskerry without a queue. A shame, as it was such a great spot.

Dear Dave,
Thanks for taking the time to review us, as its gives me a chance to reply to your comments.
Firstly, I'd like to apologise that your tuna wrap was not hot enough for you on two occasions, I will of course speak to the team about it.
I would like to address the other comments you made about the quality of our food and lack of queues. Under Bord Failtes Covid Charter, we are encouraged to have individual portions, you said they lacked taste and quality, you said this without trying them. We have not changed recipes nor the methods in which we serve them, we just make individual portions.
Secondly we have put an enormous effort into ensuring we don't have queues so as to comply with social distancing regulations. This includes staff training, sanitising stations and screen guards.
Our efforts have been rewarded recently by a tripadvisor award plus we were the first cafe in Ireland to be granted the Covid Charter by Failte Ireland.
Sadly the world as we knew it has changed and businesses must also change to ensure safety for both our customers and our staff.
Warm Regards
Peter Norton

Had coffee and sausage roll on saturday. €5. That's ok.
Had coffee, sausage roll and toasted ham and cheese today easter sunday...€11.
So €6 for a two slices of what seemed like sourdough, a sliver of ham like out of a packet, and hardly any cheese.
Not first time was overcharged though to be fair owner sorted promptly
Taking the piss
I'll go down the road in future.

Hi Kergman
Firstly I'd like to thank you for letting me know of your experience. I've spoken to our chef, he was worried that filling the sambos and rolls too much might effect the internal core temperature, however from today onwards, we will be doubling the amount of filling in them. We will continue to use the various sourdough breads from our local Baker. Thanks again for bringing the matter to my attention.
Warm regards

I have visited Poppies on several occasions and a really nice establishment it truly is …… BUT guys please rectify FULL breakfast items ie two bacon two sausage two eggs and half the plate covered by two large slices of sourdough toast for 12.50 …… I appreciate costs have risen re ingredients etc but you are better than this ……. When someone orders a Full Irish they expect a Full Irish ……. Peter don’t let the competition take your customers away ……

Dear James,
Thanks for taking the time to review us and I'm sorry it took so long to reply
To avoid disappointment, we display on our menu board exactly what's on offer for breakfast.
And Yes, you are correct in saying that all costs have increased and in September the Government changed the VAT rates from 9% to 13.5%. I would love to offer bigger portions for cheaper prices but I can assure you I would not be in business for long.
I do appreciate your feedback and hope my reply goes some way to explaining our rationale for what we do.
Warm regards
Peter

Very little chicken in the Chicken and Mushroom pie.
Unappetising salads to accompany dishes and very little selection for vegetarians despite lovely looking dishes in abundance being advertised online.
Staff were not very friendly and I found one in particular sharp and unhelpful.
Also , water on the dresser was quite warm and the plastic cups were not dried properly.
Poor standard overall and will not be recommending.

Dear orleeb2022.
Thanks for taking the time to write your review. I'm just sorry it was not a good one. I will mention your comments on the food to our chef. As to the service, sometimes when we are really busy we are forced to be efficient rather than our usual standards of friendliness. We do offer tap water for customers to help themselves, given it was summer when you visited there is a chance it won't be cold, but there is also bottled water for sale in the fridge.
Warm Regards

We are avid walkers and often stop here for coffees or lunch. Today after our walk we got 2 coffees and 2 cream doughnuts to take out. This was at the ridiculous cost of €13. The cakes were €3.50 each and they weren’t even fresh. Both were were hard and tasted stale. It wasn’t very appealing as they were just put into a paper bag on top of each other. No napkin or separate wrap to keep them apart. Most things in the display were priced from what saw. Very disappointing. I doubt we will be back.

Dear Yum Yum,
Thanks for writing your review, as it gives me an opportunity to fix things, although we make a lot of our desserts in house, like most cafes, we buy in a small selection. The cream donuts in question were delivered on the day of your visit. i will be speaking to my supplier of them and pass on your comments. However I'd like to reimburse you for them as they fell below our usual high standards so please contact me peter@poppies.ie to arrange same.
Again thanks for letting me know

Albeit slightly biased - anywhere in Ireland that is dog friendly automatically gets four stars.
The fifth star is for the outstanding selection of food, the soup and home made bread was delightful as was the ham and cheese toastie.
Super friendly staff and even at busy times plenty of room to sit.
Loved it!

Visited on Saturday afternoon, very busy, but the welcome service and smile made everyone feel really welcome. Staff were under pressure but were very professional, everything done with a smile, no delays at all. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food and coffees. Really nice to see people enjoy their job and engage with customers. Everyone knows good service, this service was another level up. Well done to all in Poppies and thank you .

Poppies truly is a ‘little gem’! Nestled in the picturesque village of Enniskerry no visit to Wicklow is complete without popping in here for refreshments.
I visited again yesterday after some time away & I was not disappointed. The food is as delicious as ever & the staff absolutely excellent.
We were a group of four & got there at lunchtime after a very long hike so we were in need of a good feed! It was very busy but the service was highly efficient & friendly, Lily & Rose in particular. Indeed the staff are constantly smiling & this lends itself to a really genuinely welcoming atmosphere.
The 3 friends I was with had never been here before & they loved it. Nicely done Poppies…..we’ll be back!

We stopped here with our tour group for lunch. When you arrive, you place your order. They have several of food options available in their glass case. A good variety of food is available. We ordered the Blueberry Pancakes and Shepherd's Pie, which came with 3 different types of salads. Very filling and reasonably priced. They deliver the food to your table. The quiche looked very good, as well as several pastry items. I would recommend this restaurant.

We went back to Poppies after an absence of some years. How the standards have dropped. Our quiche was hard, tough, stale and inedible. The rhubarb crumble lacked any taste of rhubarb. Looking around at other diners, many of them were leaving their meals unfinished. Not at all like the Poppies of old.

Dear Jack,
Firstly my apologies for the delay in replying to your review.
Sorry to hear that your experience was not like that of old. I've owned Poppies for the last 22 years and I can assure you nothing should have changed. I can only assume one of the girls might have left your quiche in the oven longer than they should have and it was overdone. Rhubarb crumble is still our number one desert and we have not changed the way we make it. Since covid happened we were forced to reduce the way we interact with customers (in the old days we checked on customers to see if everything was ok and fix it if it was not). Perhaps its time we reverted. Thanks again for bringing the matter to my attention.
Warm Regards
Peter

Lovely spot with outdoor seating. Food all looked very fresh and inviting.
However… my 7 year old ordered small breakfast. Bacon very over cooked (Son liked it but I suspect others would find inedible!) Terrible sausage- looked as if it had been sitting in an oven for 3 hours and bad quality meat inside, scrambled egg served covered in pepper which did not work for my son!
Nice cappuccino and scone.

Food on offer is all cold and to be heated. Quiche pastry very thick, opted for frittata.
Mostly likely a microwave as it was so hot it burn my mouth. Tasteless.
Was good but has gone downhill - won’t be back.

Dear 364judek,
Thanks for taking the time to review us and sorry that your experience was not good. You are correct we cook our dishes in the morning and heat them when ordered, as quiches and frittatas take over an hour to cook from scratch, making them to order is not an option. Our chef would have made the frittata using potatoes, spinach, caramelised onion, cherry tomatoes, eggs and cream but I’m sorry you felt it was tasteless. I will of course pass on your comments to our chef.
Regards
Peter
