West Wicklow House Blessington is a cozy traditional Irish pub located on the N81 road in the picturesque village of Blessington at the foot of the wicklow mountains. Home to scenic movies such as Braveheart, king Arthur, The New Vikings series and PS I love You. We are open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and evening meals and offer great group rates. Our menus are based on traditional pub food with excellent contemporary and classic seafood specials. All our staff are helpful and full of local knowledge to assist you plan your sightseeing day. The West Wicklow is my local whether it be for a fabulous meal or for a few drinks in the evening. Food is always excellent and especially since they added a new fabulous menu, absolute credit to Dom(head chef) and all his kitchen staff. The service from both in the restaurant and behind the bar is top notch all are very attentive and most importantly kind. Ian(manager) has trained all his floor to their upmost best and it’s a pleasure every time we come here. Highly recommend going to the West Wicklow and experiencing such a lovely atmosphere!

We came here for lunch after an excellent concert from West Wicklow Chamber Music festival. The place and staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was very good and the chef made a dish that was not on the menu for one of our party making their dream come true!

My sister, our friend and I visited the West Wicklow House Friday 7th October and were met by a very warm welcome from lovely members of staff. We had been walking in the area and had chosen this venue for lunch, as they accept well behaved dogs in the outdoor seating area. My sister had a burger which was filling, and delicious, our friend had a prawn salad which she said was 'yummy'. I chose the fresh fish and fries, the batter was light, crispy and really nice!!!!

I went for lunch with my family . we decided to go to West Wicklow instead of eating in Russborough as we thought it would be better value. Big mistake!!! We ordered Beef and chicken dinner and plain beef burger and child's lunch for 8.95. Beef was dry and chicken pink. Plain cheese burger was way overpriced at 17.95 as very little chips served with dish The child's burger had double the chips thank adult burger ordered

Very sorry to read this review and that you feel this way. It's a pity you didn't voice your concern while on the premises snd we could have dealt with this straight away. But to clarify a couple of points on your review, we would have changed any meal you were not satisfied with. Our chicken is roasted in bacon hence it gets a pink hue from the bacon but in no way is it undercooked or anyway unsafe, this would have been explained to you. Our kids burger is very good value at 8.95 with a 4oz patty and cheese with chips. Our adult burger is 8oz of prime irish steak mince, served with crispy bacon, a choice of cheese, lettuce and tomato, home cut fries and a creamy pepper sauce, at €17.95 we consider it excellent value and one of our most popular dishes. Once again it is always better to try and deal with any problems at the time rather than leaving and putting up a misleading review.

Have always loved this place for food always loved it fresh and staff very friendly. Place is always busy. Only thing that annoys me about it is that food is rushed to the table only received our drinks and starters on the table plate taken while one was still eating then Hoover to get the other plate. Within two mins of the starters going mains on the table and again staff hovering to take plates away and again one plate taken soon as my knife was put down. But the worst thing I seen was a bar maid putting her finger into a fresh pint to burst the bubbles before topping it off something I find very sicking to be honest. I did love this place but I’d never be back if they can do that in front of customers I’d hate to imagine what happens in the kitchen where there is no eyes watching. Food comes out to quick so either pre cooked and reheated or just tons of food cooked before it’s ordered.

After hearing about the west wicklow we decided to give it a go for lunch after a day out. Had roast beef sandwich and lasagnes. Sandwich came out in 2 slices of cheap white bread with a slice of roast beef. It was the woerst sandwich I've ever seen served in a pub. Could have been so much better presented. Lasagne was cold and I'm 100% certain it was heated in a microwave. Cheese and pasta was like mush. Honestly I've never written a bad review or complained to staff before but this needed to be addressed. We were met with a bit of attitude and was not taken on board. Would like to think they could treat a customer a little better than they had. Will not be going back or recommending the west wicklow.

i went here for dinner with my family only recently, a young lady served me and my family food and was such a delightful young girl. I got her name as i was taken back by how polite she was. After our dinner we went up to the bar and ordered drinks. the bar staff were nothing but helpful and did everything in their ability to help us and make sure we were okay. i got into great chat then after with one of the girls behind the bar and she was nothing but so lovely. Anna and fern were there names and they completely deserve a pat on the back 👏👏

As a family we regularly eat out at the West Wicklow, we return time after time because of the great food, lovely staff and relaxed atmosphere.
Recently we had our daughters communion meal here, and I can honestly say it was perfect from start to finish. We were a large group and everyone was looked after so well by the staff, they couldn’t have done anymore for us.
The menu was great and it had something for everyone, the food was even better, delicious, fresh and served promptly.
All of our guests were hugely complimentary and some returned the very next day for the wings!!!
Special thanks to Kathy, Teresa and all the staff looking after us on the day and for making Macey’s day so special.

I booked a table for my mam and myself for Sunday diner. I explained to Joe it was my mams 85th birthday. He was so accommodating on the phone. Said we would have the best seat in the house.😊 Our table was ready bang on time. Joe greeted us and took us to our seat. Straight away wishing my mam a happy birthday and making her feel so welcome. After diner all the staff gathered around our table placing a chocolate cake with a candle on it in front of mam and all proceeded to sing Happy birthday to her. Then all the customers joined in. Mam was sooo embarrassed but secretly so thrilled. Thank you Joe and all your wonderful staff for making mams birthday diner that extra bit special. Ps also the food is so delish. its by far one of our favourite places to go to eat. Thank you from Michelle and caramel

I ordered the chicken and ribs combo, and I have to say, it was out of this world. More food than I could eat - and I have a healthy appetite. The meat on the ribs was falling off the bone and came covered in a delicious Louisiana sauce. My companions had burger and chicken and their food was reportedly delicious too. Very attentive and timely service. I'm knocking one star off because when I went to the loo, there was no soap at either of the sinks, nor was there any hand-san in the dispenser outside the loo. I'll be back for the food though!

Thank you so much for your nice review andxwe are delighted you enjoyed your visit. Apologies thatchers was no sanitizer in the dispenser, will rectify that immediately. The hand soap dispensers are are actually on the wall on either side of the sinks, we are remodeling our loos at the moment so maybe not that viable. We will look into this also and thanks for pointing that out. Hopefully see you again soon and we mightvget a 5* next time!! Thanks you

As always we as a family have thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, food and hospitality provided to us but the staff one and all have shown their real focus on what really matters and that is ‘excellence’ and ‘attention to detail’. Big shout out to Catherine who always looks after us so well. Peter the proprietor has taken the challenges of Covid on and allowed his loyal customers to feel connected with The West Wings central to that of course. You all are a credit to yourselves. I arrived here on Sunday with a group of 16, having had our previous booking cancelled by another place.
We had no booking, the lady greeted us and said she would fit us in some were but could not sit the whole group at one table, despite it been so busy she managed it.
And we were certainly not disappointed the food was excellent and my American group really enjoyed the Guinness, and the whole atmosphere here it turned out to be a real find.
I would definitely recommend this place if you are ever in blessington.
I will definitely return with other groups (next time I will book).

A great communion meal in the beer garden.
We had our son’s communion meal at the West Wicklow 14/05/22. The food was excellent. Service was very friendly, prompt and attentive.
Cajun combo (pictured) was delicious with a generous portion. Everyone enjoyed the chicken wings and I loved the duck spring rolls- really nice.
Guests commented that the roast beef was melt in the mouth.

Just got a lovely take out of chicken wings, curry and salt and chilli. Very efficient, food was lovely and very well packaged and was ready in less than 15 mins. We'll done to the team in tough times.

I have frequented this lovely public house on many an occasion for, many an occasion. The food is always of a very high standard and the decor is bright, clean and airy. However, I have to highlight the customer service. You are NEVER left waiting for a table or bar service, even on the busiest nights and it always with a smile and a brief chat when time allows for the staff. I'd like to highlight in particular, two members of the team who stand above the crowd for me and that's Catherine and Joe. Again, a special thank you to Joe who arranged for a member of staff to nip over to the shop to get blue cheese for my burger as the menu only offered cheddar cheese. I was telling him how nice burgers were with blue cheese and low and behold, out it came on my plate with his cheeky smile. I'm so lucky to have such a well run, clean and friendly establishment for my local and wish Peter and the team continued success through the years.
