Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stayed for 3 nights in August, I did not realised there’s no bar or restaurant on the premises, as they were closed.....we were standing outside the door for 45 minutes when we arrived, trying to gain access. Rooms were clean, but we did find someone’s...personal item in one of the bedroom lockers drawers, not a great indication of a room cleaned. We had a walk in shower, my friends next door had a very small en-suite. The Bed was comfortable, but way too heavy duvet for the time of year, and it was that or a sheet....we had to tick off from a list for breakfast, decided to go for full Irish first morning. Sausages were not eatable, as very fatty, poor quality as were the black and white pudding!! My toast tasted funny and I thought it was the bread, but after trying different bread each morning I-realised it was the butter.. it was gone off in the heat, as was the milk. It was the same each morning! The following 2 mornings I just had the scramble eggs and mushrooms, which were tasty enough.More

My husband and I stayed here while down in Birr for a wedding at another venue. Spinners surpassed our expectations. The staff were so friendly and easygoing and helpful. The room was gorgeous and very quaint. I’m vegetarian and they went above and beyond to...ensure I had everything I wanted for breakfast, even letting me know they were going to the shop the day before and could get me whatever I liked. Breakfast was lovely and service very efficient though we never felt rushed. Undoubtedly 5 stars! Will definitely stay here again if in Birr again.More

Overall experience was very disappointing .My starter was tasty but on the small size. My main course Chicken Breast wrapped in Pancetta arrived without the pancetta and was tasteless. At the end of the meal i asked for an after dinner digestive for example limencello...or zambuca, the waitress said she would check what they had. After a few minutes she came back and said they had nothing, zero options. Strange no? While the woitress was very friendly the service was not very professional. In two I paid €87 for a very disappointing experience.More

Excellent meal in spinners courtyard. The courtyard is well setup for outside dining in the Irish summer. I had the scallops with black pudding for starter and it was perfect. For main I had the fish which was nice and light. My partner had the...steak which had the perfect amount of sodium. In fact he even added more sodium to it. The meal was quite reasonable and great serviceMore

Went with my Son whom I hadn't seen in two years. Chicken with Parma ham had no Parma ham. Whole main course was tasteless and not at all.up to standard. No digestifs available for after dinner. €80 for a shared starter and main course with...wine. Won't be returning very disappointed.More

It was "chock a block" at Parker's and booked out for the sunday evening we dropped in. So we headed to nearby and he ribeye steak was "perfectly seasoned" if you were lacking in sodium. Why oh why can't the diner season his steak to...his own taste and satisfaction. Or are some chefs so far up their own behind they know by telepathy how we like our steak. My order will be low salt, medium rare from now on.This ribeye steak had veins of grizzle and not fat running through it so the amount of tender meat was limited but the dog enjoyed the rest when I got home.More

Small hotel with great food and cosy, somewhat hipster rooms. Stayed here for a family wedding nearby. Accommodated myself and my wife and 3year old comfortably. Breakfast and lunch cooked fresh to order. Rooms affordable and the hotel is right beside the beautiful Birr Castle....Would highly recommend spinnersMore

Called into Spinners on Evening of 27th December. We were made to feel very welcome. Had a table in baq dining area. Lovely selection on dinner menu. No Jack Daniel's but did not spoil the evening. We ordered the Duck and Steak. Both dishes were...cooked perfect. Good portions. Lovely side dishes of cauliflower and Cheese. Lovely apricot stuffing with the duck. For dessert we orded the chocolate fondant it was gorgeous and baked Alaska. Both went down v well. A lovely place to sit and enjoy a meal. Praise to the two ladies who were working quietly and efficiently. . All in all a lovely evening to finish our Christmas holiday in Birr. Will return in Summer when back on holidays.More

The staff here are lovely and the service was excellent. We got no starters, for mains I had the pad Thai with prawns, the pad Thai was gorgeous only thing was the portion was small I could’ve eaten twice as much nearly, and I had...to pay €3.50 extra to add prawns to it and they literally put 3 and a half prawns in it, which I thought was a bit stingy, but it was so tasty I didn’t complain. Others had steak sandwiches, chicken etc and said they were gorgeous too. I would definitely recommend.More
