FOOD:Sandwich cuts of bread were miserably small. The portion of roughly chopped lettuce on the side was bigger than the sandwich!!! Lettuce looked and tasted awful.... a dollop of something brown on top wasn't balsamic or olive oil or anything recognisable and certainly did not...help the dish in any way. Food portion size quality and presentation were embarrassingly awful. PREMISES: Very dingy, dirty and really badly laid out premises. We were a family if 4 sitting in alcove. The poor couple at the table next to us had to stand up for staff to serve our food as their seat and table blocked the passage way. Not the customers fault, that's the way the space was designed/laid out. Staff weren't even apologetic the customer had to stand up to allow them access our table. Everything felt dirty and unhygienic. The book shelves for customers to swap books is a nice idea, but location of shelves is inaccessible to customers if anyone sitting at the table next to the shelves. SERVICE: Unremarkable, food order was taken promptly as we entered and paid for in full and then served to table by different member of staff. Our first visit to Birr and regretably cannot recommend this cafe.More
