The Castle is amazing to visit and great grounds to explore. The Castle itself was private - so no access. The cafe had nice food.

Went to have a coffee before entering Castle. Food not covered in particular the sausage rolls, flies all over them, when I asked if their was some other one in fridge was told no. I commented about the flies and was told there was a...nest near by!!!. Beggars belief a cover couldn't be purchased. Extremely unhygienic. Wouldn't eat a thing here.More
Nice coffee shop with a selection of hot and cold snacks to choose from at reasonable prices , attentive staff , spotless.
We had a snack here before visiting the gardens at Birr Castle; the food was good, and the service was very friendly.
The cafe at Birr Castle is nice, with very pleasant staff. They serve lovely scones and a variety of hot food, soup and sandwiches. The staff are helpful and explain what is on offer. This is a nice place to stop and get a quick...bite to eat when visiting the stunning Birr Castle and observatory that has one of the oldest large telescopes built in the 1840’s and was the biggest in the World at the time.More
By my reckoning this cafe ticks all the boxes. Conveniently located near the entrance to the Birr Castle gardens, but outside the charging area, it offers a good range of options. I had the soup of the day with a healthy chunk of brown bread...- scrumptious.More
I went for lunch with a friend. We both ordered leek and potato soup. I was horrified to to see it being scooped out of the soup pot, and reheated in a microwave (under the counter). In hindsight, we should have left it! The soup...was not hot enough, and was not very tasty (too much salt). Very disappointing!More
Food expensive compared to other locations. Served loads of green leaves with out of date smoked salmon. Scone was returned as could not cut it, it was so hard on the outside. saw another visitor return a quiche ... she had found some item (not...food) in it.More
Honestly the worst food I have ever tasted. I ordered a wrap and they managed to get it wrong, there was suppose to be goats cheese in the wrap but no. They toasted it without me asking and then said all their wraps come toasted,...which is fine but they toasted the coleslaw. Horrible. I said this to them and they were nice enough to get me another not toasted however still no goats cheese (in a goats cheese wrap) and overall it did not taste good. I think it was stale. The seating area outside is nice though.More
Popped in for a bite to eat after walking the grounds of the castle for a number of hours. Staff were very friendly, Food was well prepared and best of all delicious, what surprise me more than anything was the cost, usually cafes attached to...many of the tourist attractions around the country too often charge way over the top for what your getting but the Courtyard Cafe thankfully doesn't follow that trend, and if you decide to avail of their takeaway price you end up saving a few more euros. Would highly recommend..!!! A little mention also has to go to the Icecream from the little hut attached to the cafe, a delicious creamy treat after the warm day that it was !!!More
Really nice ambiance in this cafe. Fabulous food and great selection. Really nice friendly staff. Seating inside and outside. Highly recommended if you are visiting Birr. Also supports local suppliers. Nice touch.
You can find here from sandwich to cake clean and the staff very kind and helpfull average for the kind of place but deserve a visit
We arrived in, quite wet and a tad chilly... In no time, that was all forgotten. Considering the weather and time of year - it was very popular. Anyone who was out seemed to have dropped in here. Beautiful coffee, home-made breads, jams, savourys and...sweeties .. yum...Free newspapers too. a lovely relaxing oasis if you're visiting the castle - or even if you're not..More
Whilstvisiting the castle we had lunch in the Courtyard Cafe - something for everyone. The children enjoyed toasted sandwiches and there were lovely home made pies and quiches. I even had a glass of wine to enjoy outdoors!
Indoor and outdoor seating available at this cafe at the entrance to Birr castle with an ice cream window next door so I'm not sure if they both belong to the same owner but the ice cream is the best around. The cafe offers nice...snack food but can be a little over priced, I guess that's as it is next door to a good attraction?More
