This is a lovely spot with genuinely great cooking. John Dory special was great and the slow cooked beef spectacular. Nice sides too. Decor, atmosphere and service all very good.

First, this is NOT a cafe. It is a full blown restaurant called "The Pier", and what a marvellous restaurant. The menu is creative and imaginative with excellent local produce. A good sign is that most of the patrons are locals and there is a...very warm, friendly atmosphere. I had the stuffed baby squid which was yummy, filled with feta and chorizo with apple and fennel chutney and romesco sauce. Mind blowing. The roasted free range chicken is to die for with shield mushrooms and more. There is a great selection of wines all reasonably priced. Great choice of dessert. Try the cinnamon apple pieMore
Walked in unannounced , scilly us . Sarah was very helpful , table of 11, service fast and polite , food excellent. Lovely Prawn Linguini. Restaurant busy , good atmosphere. Thanks / The Edmondson’s
Sunday lunch delight €67 for two, a starter, two mains, two deserts, coffee and a beer - very good value! Food was absolutely fabulous, ribs starter gorgeous fish main generous and tasty, slow cooked beef melt in your mouth. And the deserts were a delight!...The biggest risk is you might never want to cook Sunday lunch for yourself again!More
Had a meal here last Thursday with my wife. As always a lovely atmosphere. Food was really good. Nice choice. Miss the Curry they had last year.
We have enjoyed 2 excellent meals at The pier this summer, would recommend to anyone. The menu is small but well varied and well priced. Excellent staff.
Visited restaurant in August. Just walked in. Despite two large groups arriving they gave me a table. Nicest meal I've had in a long time. Very friendly and efficient staff. Highly recommend.
Went with my extended family for a meal here on a busy July Saturday evening. We were probably the last big group to be seated for the evening so we were probably seeing the restaurant team at its most stretched. Despite this everything was very...very good from start to finish. From the moment we sat down, we had water filled and refilled, the team knew the menus and specials. Throughout the evening the service was friendly and professional and the quality of the food was excellent. All seven of us really enjoyed their meals. Fish specials were especially good. We will definitely be back.More
Fantastic and interesting food throughout the menu, great welcoming staff and lovely ambience. This was the best food of our trip by far!
Had Sunday lunch here recently and have to say it was top notch. This was my first visit to the Pier Cafe but certainly won't be my last. This is a cosy, buzzy restaurant with a nice atmosphere and nicely decorated. Myself and my partner...both went for the Salmon pate to start. Served with a slice of beautiful brown bread it really got the taste buds going. For mains I opted for the Cod served with baby potatoes and spinach with a super tasty sauce. Cod cooked to perfection. My partner went for the slow cooked beef. Served on mash potatoes with roast carrots and an amazing gravy this beef literally melted in your mouth... Also worth pointing out both mains were served on piping hot plates, very important in my opinion... No room for desert but next time we'll have a go! Overall a very pleasant dining experience. Service was spot on, attentive but not OTT Given the quality of the food, good value for money also Thanks to Sara, Aoife and all the staff 😊 We'll be back....More
I think I need to speak about the food first. I tend to go for the fish specials here, simply because Owner Chef Malcolm has the knack for cooking and presenting it perfectly. On my last visit I had monkfish to start, followed by turbot....Both dishes were exceptional. Others at the table had steaks which were cooked to perfection, and served with a choice of sauces. The confit of duck legs went down a treat also. The wine list is extensive and exciting. There are quite a few surprising options along with some good old crowd pleasers. Anyone who knows anything about wine would have a field day perusing the wine list. The dessert menu has something for everyone, and for me that usually includes something chocolatey! The staff are excellent and very attentive, without being overbeating. Ambiance wise, the restaurant is always beautifully and subtlety lit, with candles and twinkly lights, along with a well chosen playlist creating a backdrop to the chit chat of other diners. Co- owner Sara always makes her guests feel welcomed and comfortable, and it is evident that the staff there enjoy their work under her management, which all makes for a very pleasant experience. Procedures around covid restrictions are followed to the letter, which is very comforting and reassuring. The place is always spotless, and well sanitised. The outdoor dining area in the summer months is buzzy and a great spot to watch the world go by. All in all, it's hard to beat The Pier Cafe.More
I had a most wonderful meal and time here with friends whilst visiting Tramore recently. The food was divine (as good as it gets!) by their Head Chef who I believe is one of Irelands best; the service was very attentive (without being in our...faces), polite and nothing was too much trouble; and the value for money was incredible. There is a really lovely ambience to The Pier Cafe, which lends itself very well to romantic dinners and also to meals out with friends. I felt very reassured to find that covid vaccination certificates were being checked at the point of entry (at the door), and that every procedure was being adhered to to the letter (and rightly so) by all of their staff. We had a most splendid night here - made our Christmas-time very special. I can't wait to return to The Pier Cafe again... THANK YOU all!More
Had a fabulous experience with my family here before Christmas. We felt very safe in the restaurant with the staff checking everyone's vaccine certs. Wonderful food and service as always! Loved the mussels!
Fabulous venue. Such a lovely atmosphere and we've always had wonderful visits to The Pier. Friendly, attentive and professional staff, (despite the pressures of working in the height of a pandemic! ) are so welcoming. The food is divine, the steak and fish are always...exceptionally good. Sara is always friendly and helpful. It's my number one choice of dining venues in Tramore and I highly recommend The Pier Cafe. 🥰More
It was an absolute treat from start to finish. The nicest meal I’ve had in ages. We were a table of 4 and we had the tomato salad and mussels as starters. They were so tasty. Then for mains it was 2 fish specials, prawn...linguine and the falafels. Everything looked amazing and tasted incredible. The atmosphere is lovely and a nice casual vibe with great service. We will be back for sureMore
