I had the most enjoyable evening in Murphy Black's, the food was excellent and all the staff were very friendly, looking forward to another visit next summer.

We had a lovely evening at the end of the year at Murphy Blacks. We had scallops as starters, followed by fish with salad and chips and as a dessert trifle and apple crumble. Everything was cocked and backed as it should. And also the...service was very obliging also the restaurant was completely full.More

While the restaurant is here 15 years, I had never got a chance to visit it during trips to West Clare but did on this occasion. The many awards outside tell the whole story. This restaurant is about sourcing the best raw materials and serving...them up perfectly cooked. The patron of the house is an ex fishing captain and it shows in the excellent choice of seafood on offer, as well as the best lamb and beef. Our table partook of the monkfish thai curry, seafood pie and lamb normandy, all were fabulous accompanied by in season veg. Desserts were hearty and beautifully presented. A well thought out wine list and locally produced beer complemented the fare on offer. Staff were friendly and accommodating and while some may find it expensive, you do not mind paying for this quality of food, well delivered. They don't need to change anything to continue adding to their yearly awards. Okay maybe a nice stove in the chimney if it is not closed up!More

By far, the best in Kilkee. Non pretentious atmosphere, very enjoyable meal. The owners take great pride in the food served and welcome all guests.

Some of the best fresh fish I have tasted. I had the sharing platter to start and one of the specials for mains and on each dish the fish and coking was excellent. Would highly recommend if you are a fish lover.

Had a lovely meal here this week. Didn't have a booking but they were able to accommodate. Host was so friendly from the outset giving us some tips and recommendations for our stay in Kilkee - in fact all staff were attentive and friendly throughout...the evening. We had sea bream and john dory with the tastiest sides of potatoes and vegetables that I have had in ages. Good wine list and good value. Highly recommend.More

Every time I eat in Murphy Blacks I walk away saying it was the best meal I've had in years... until the next time I go there. Gorgeous food, especially fish, always impeccably cooked. Consistent excellence.

After a disastrous evening at a well-known Dublin restaurant, we were slightly fearful of making a reservation at Murphy Blacks. totally unfounded fear. not only were we treated with respect, but also a great deal of friendliness. advice was given and taken (even if we...did contribute to the owner's failure to eat any seared scallop that evening). when we started the restaurant was largely empty, but it soon filled with people obviously enjoying what they ate, and by the time we left was still simmering. Every member of staff was cheerful, the busy atmosphere radiated efficiency masked by warmth and fun, and, despite the 3 1/2 drive we would prefer to do that than a taxi into Dublin.More

I have never been disappointed by Murphy Blacks. The food and service are good, the prices are reasonable and there is no mad bustle. By far the best in Kilkee.
