Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

When visiting Killaloe The Pipers Inn remains our favourite dinner venue. Excellent food, especially the fish dishes, nice ambiance.

Cannot fault the location. Perfect for walks although roads nearby can be very busy with no paths. Staff were brilliant. Everything was orientated to the Piper's Inn. Lunch offered but a menu that did not include snacks and sandwiches. Did not try the evening menu....However anyone camping here must be aware of the access to the car park to the back of the camping field. Often diners at the restaurant 'took the long way back to their vehicles' through the site. Not ideal when considering families are camping there or a camper is having an early rise. One of our night's stay resulted in a cramped site with many camping. we had less than 3 feet between us and the tent beside us. No indoor place to cook own food or to sit and eat it if weather is bad. Do not use BBQ notifications ignored by campers and staff. Shower block needs complete overhaul. Unfit for use. Short bursts of water-15 seconds are the wet room showers with unmoveable heads. Sometimes very cold or lukewarm. Open spaces where windows should be at the top. Cold. Without any form of comfort. Concrete floors. About a 1 foot gap between the floor and height of the door. One shower had nowhere to keep clothes dry while showering. Spray fixed and broad, covering most of the room. Children playing in the vicinity on showers, toilets and sink sin't ideal either. Lough Derg is not as close as photos suggest. Walked down to the main road, some 500m and no sign of the Lough. In fact it was some 8 kms from the road itself. This photo needs removing. Such a beautiful site amid the Clare countryside. Just needs improving to make the campers as much part of the Piper's Inn as the pub itself. https://www.tripadvisor.ie/ShowUserReviews-g212519-d3807358-r855086584-The_Pipers_Inn-Killaloe_County_Clare.html#More

Came here for early lunch as they opened. We were the only ones dining in and found the setting to be lovely. I ordered Calamari starter and really enjoyed it. My husband ordered fish and chips, unfortunately didn't enjoy it as much as I did...mine. The batter were rock solid in some places, chips could have been better. It was a pity that I could not give you 5 stars due to to this fact.More

We have been to this site now three times and all I can do is recommend, the site is small but has everything you need and is set in a lovely picturesque location. The facilities are clean and maintained well. The bar and restaurant are...fabulous, great service from all the lovely staff and the food has always been of tue highest quality and great value. The landlady is what makes this place so amazing she runs such a friendly and social place and is always so welcoming I have to say we cannot rate this as highly as I would like because it is definitely a place to savour and working out the dates now for our returnMore

Beautiful pub / restaurant inside and out in an amazing spot. They were fully booked when we made an impromptu visit, but staff accommodated us with choice to dine outside or at the bar. The table nearest us ordered the salmon main, which looked amazing...so I was tempted to get it, but I went for the monkfish, as it's rare enough to see on menus. Monkfish can be prepare a bit rubbery but this was perfect. I tasted my Dad's chowder, which was delicious too. Staff were busy with a full house, but attentive enough to notice he finished bread early and served another without us even having to ask! We didn't plan dessert but had to try menu after great first impressions. I had the sticky toffee / Dad the meringue - both delicious. Best dining experience of month long trip so far. Highly recommend, especially the monkfish (pic doesn't show fresh veggie side)More

The website shows a photo of a Campervan with a lake in the background, suggesting the site is next to the water. This is not the case. We expected basic wash up, shower and toilet facilities, but as you can see in my photos they...were in a disgusting state. In desperate need of cleaning, bins overflowing with rotting food and rubbish and certainly not maintained to even basic standards. Whilst we were staying no one came to check or clean these facilities. All in all, the campsite was a huge disappointment.More

Calamari was good, wings were cold and tasteless and the side sauce was awful. Lamb main was very nice and cooked well, very tasty and the chicken was alright. Staff were too busy chatting amongst themselves to bother to greet or serve us. When we...finally got someone's attention and got menues the service was slow and the waitress was ill-informed on the drinks available. Staff all seemed completely uninterested and untrained. Our mains were brought out before we had finished the starters which was annoying and left us with lots of leftovers. The horrible rude unwelcoming foreign blonde waitress was not working this day so that was a good thing.More

Picked pipers inn as holiday destination last week as had enjoyed camping facilities and fabulous meals there in the past, disappointed to find it’s closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday now…another covid victim I expect. We did however find another lovely spot just north of pipers...called Tuamgraney and had some great food in local restaurant Nualas.More

I was with my family for a birthday lunch and I have got a fried piece of paper tissue inside my calamari. There was not any apology from the Manger. They just took a plate from me and that's it. They have also one of...the foreign nationality waitress who is very rude and every time when we went there she was always rude, answering for the questions in very sarcastic and not professional way.She asked us if we want to order something else and I said 'no thank you we are ok 'she replied 'That's even better' What a lack of respect for a customers! I am very disappointed because it is such a lovely situated restaurant where we were coming often and we had to forget about this place!More

We travelled here in April camping as a family and was greeted with the warmest and friendliest owner. We then booked to come back just as a couple and we experienced the exact same welcome, and even remembered what we were drinking etc. We decided...this time to eat in the restaurant and we’re not disappointed, the meals were probably the best I’ve tasted in Ireland with once again the friendliest service and made to feel so welcome. I cannot find a fault with this amazing place and have now booked to return very soon. I don’t think 5 stars is even close to what I would say about the pipers and the staff and definitely the owner. Already counting down the days for our return. All I can say is this place has to be experienced!!!!More

So disappointed with our first visit to this restaurant. We we’re so looking forward to it having read the reviews and looked at the menu on line. Service was very poor. We waited 55 mins for dinner while watching other tables who arrived after us...have both starters and mains. Waitress then arrived with the wrong dinner for my young son. And my husband had to wait ten mins for a steak knife. The rest of the food was luke warm. I ordered monkfish and prawns which was presented really well, but fish was tough and cold. Overall a very disappointing visit and we won’t be returning.More

Dropped in here at lunch time on a Tuesday. It’s a gem in the middle of nowhere. The decor is lovely and the food is better. We just had starters and dessert. Both were delicious and beautifully presented. I had Duck liver pâté. It was...so full of flavour that I felt like I was in France. Then when dessert arrived it felt like we were sitting in on a Masterchef episode. I’d definitely go again when we’re next in the area.More
