When I had recent surprise visit from a couple of friends who had not been Donegal before - I wanted to take them for lunch somewhere with good food & we wouldn’t be rushed . I hadn’t been to the Church for a while so...we decided to head there & so glad we did. The surrounding were a perfect start to a lovely to a relaxing afternoon The food was fantastic, service was super & staff so friendly & helpful , a young man Simon who I think was a manager was so attentive to our needs . My Dublin friends were so impressed & that they plan to return soon & want to go back for dinner. Definitely a hidden gem !More

Extremely disappointed. Were this just a normal family meal it would have been bad enough but this was our little girls First Holy Communion. The evening before I left in the Cake, balloon display and personalised banner for them to be put on display for...the arrival of the lady of the hour. She was so excited as the day was going to be about her. I was assured everything would be in place on the day and also gave them the amended numbers. We arrived on time and after a 5/10 min wait to be taken to our table we were taken to a table in the terrace area that did not reflect the amended numbers, no balloon, cake or banner up on display as agreed but more importantly left our daughter very disappointed. I brought this to the attention of the server (who was the person in charge) who stated that there was a wedding party in Rockhill House who was very difficult and creating problems. After being seated nobody came to ask if we wanted drinks so I had to go to the bar and order it there, and also had to ask for jugs of water as the heat in the terrace was almost unbearable, perhaps fans on hot days should be considered as it is floor to ceiling glass. Eventually our food orders were taken, after almost an hour and no sign of our starters I again had to ask what was going on. At this point I pointed out all the shortcomings and was told the wedding was putting pressure on the restaurant and there was also staff shortages. I asked for the manager and he came down from Rockhill House. Told him our experience and while a brides day is special to her so too was our daughters first communion and the service was well below par. In fairness he accepted this and a token deduction on the bill was received. The food was good but nothing special, a very disjointed effort. The excitement for our daughter didn’t materialise, while all efforts were being made for the “bridezilla” (term used by a staff member) no effort was put into our daughters day. Extremely disappointing, extremely poor service, extremely unprofessional. Won’t returnMore

We had a really delicious meal here a couple of weeks ago. We dined out in the conservatory which was lovely and bright. Our lovely waitress couldn’t have been nicer and provided excellent service. Haven’t been here since before covid but will be back soon....I would highly recommend the drive out as it’s well worth it. The grounds are also beautiful.More

Beautiful location which I have visited on a number of occasions but my Easter dinner was dissapointing. I ordered lamb that came in two slivers of chewy meat with a half a carrot and mash. Other patrons beside us complained of not getting their mash...and veg on time with their mains. Staff were very nice and professional but the main meal really let the whole experience down. The three course meal for two came to €72.More

It’s not often I feel like giving feedback to a Sunday lunch experience but I feel I had to comment on this lunch . First service was excellent starter good main was absolutely awful we ordered lamb for our mains & I have to say...it was just terrible it looked like flat thin pork chops & it tasted like rubber this is not good enough for this restaurant whom I may add charge top price for their food we did let the waitress know so hopefully they will take this on board .More

Arrived at restaurant after making a reservation only to be told they had no record of us on their booking system. I did ring the correct restaurant... Manager looked around to all empty tables and said to me, will try squeeze you in somewhere. He...had enough room for a wedding there were so many empty tables. Good menu and was looking forward to my food. Ordered a baby bowl, duck n wife ordered scallops.. had to ask 3 times to bring out mash n gravy in a bowl to keep kids quiet. They were kicking off as well to make things worse and split wine everywhere but if they just brought out food for them when we asked they would have been fine. Rest of meal came in drips n drabs, wife had scallops ate by time her chips arrived. She had everything ate by time my dinner came. Was meant to be duck in hoi sin sauce, ginger n honey. Was more like a tough lump of a seagull in bisto gravy. Rotten. Then they lit a fire in the place n smoked us all out of it, was like been in my granny's house where the chimney was blocked with birds nests. I don't think anyone really knew where they were or what they were meant to be at. Maybe they were all dozed out of it with smokeMore

A group of ten of us called here on our way home from a new year trip to Falcarragh. Several had eaten here before so it was highly recommended. I think we were possibly the first customers in so had the full attention of the...lovely young waitress. Most of the party chose soup and bread rolls but I went for the fruit scone and so glad I did. My plate appeared with two dainty freshly cooked little scones, a helping of jam and cream and sliced fresh strawberry all dusted down with icing sugar. I don't think I've ever had scones so nicely presented much to the envy of the rest of the party. A beautiful restaurant in lovely grounds, very impressed with my visit here for both food and serviceMore

Myself Ann, and my lifelong friend Mary, went to The Church Restaurant last weekend for Sunday lunch after my husband recommended it. We were greeted and welcomed at the door by the bar man Shaun. Throughout our visit, the waitresses were very kind and helpful....Lauren helped us take a photo together on my camera and made sure to check on us with a friendly smile. Erin served us our food and asked if we were ok with everything throughout the afternoon! Alana checked on us kindly and gave us a desert menu, even taking the time to explain each desert. The food was just amazing! The presentation, perfect temperature and just the right portion size. The staff were such a happy, smart team. A true credit to the restaurant. I would highly recommend going here to anyone and I will be back soon!More

Very very dissapointed I was meeting up with 3 friends today for lunch and suggested to them that we should eat in The Church Restaurant. Huge mistake! 3 of the group had no starters and when the mains arrived we were all in shock and...we queried with the lovely waitress if these dishes really were main course. I had a starter, main and desert. The only reason I ordered the desert was because I was still hungry. Over the past 3 weeks in Letterkenny I have eaten in Luca's and Yellow Pepper several times and have never felt the need to order a desert because I was still hungry after a starter and main course. We certainly will not be driving from Letterkenny to eat here again. The waitress who served us was wonderful and provided good service with a smile.More

Ate here yesterday and was very impressed by the quality of food. Was with a large group of people and everyone seemed to be very happy with their meal. The food was extremely tasty and was possibly one of the nicest meals I have ever...had. I ate from the Sunday lunch menu and this was really good value for money. It is in beautiful surroundings with lots of greenery. I highly recommend and would definitely return here to eat again, especially for special occassions.More

Choose this place on hearing reviews from others. My first time here and it sure will be my last. An all round bad experience. Myself and my partner had a three course option . My starter was just watery prawns mixed with a bag of...Italian pasta, tasteless, the meal meal I had steak which was over cooked and placed in a bed of mash mixed with chives. The peppered sauce was already poured in my meal which is so poor and the chips and mixed veg came as added extras. My partner had turkey and ham from the early menu . All very expensive as my starter was priced €10.85 . Very poor drinks selection and table service, I went to the bar to order drinks from my table. A very expensive night out for such a poor service. Much better options in and around Letterkenny for sure.More

I came here for a meal with my wife. It was our 31st wedding anniversary. We arrived at 7pm and were seated. The seats were extremely uncomfortable and too low down. It felt like my chin could touch the table. The girls serving us were...lovely! But lacked management. Who is the manager?? Or who owns the place?? We ordered drinks but they didn’t come until after our starter came out. It felt as if we were forgotten about as we had to ask for a dessert menu twice! I have already heard mixed reviews about this place (usually not good) but I wanted to try it out and see for myself. Unfortunately, I will not be coming back again.More
