Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Best food in Ireland! The Guinness and beef stew was absolutely to die for, the steaks were tasty and very tender. Everyone really loved everything ordered. The staff was very attentive. And the inside was cozy and beautiful.

On Sunday 26th May we ordered catch of the day. Fish and salad lovely, unfortunately presentation was shocking, plate completely overloaded with chips. Waiter didn't seem to care when it was brought to his attention. This is the 2nd time this happened within a month....Very disappointed.More

A special place for a great meal. Shared a seafood platter for starters which was great and then a superb king prawn curry for mains. A lively experience with great service .

We stayed the night in Monks, ate in the restaurant and were able to bring the dog! The room was spacious and very comfortable! Dog treats, bowls and Poop bags were laid on and as we were in the courtyard, we weren't worried about bring...the dog through the main building. Money has been invested into the bathrooms - they are large, luxurious and well supplied with Voya products which was a big plus. The room was quiet at night (I think we were the only ones in the courtyard unit). From the minute we arrived, we were bathed in genuine warmth and friendliness! Nothing was too much trouble! We ate in the restaurant and it was exactly what we wanted - local fish, well prepared with flair and imagination, at very reasonable prices and served with charm and humour by local staff. We ate Kelly's oysters and prawns pil pil for starters and these were fresh and delicious. Then we had fish and chips - local hake, spanking fresh, crisp batter on an enormous bed of homemade chips and served with all the sauces - and a fish burger - a combination of prawns, crab and hake, served with pickled fennel and citrus flavours. Both dishes demonstrated a simplicity and focus on freshness and flavour - something which seems simple but is actually very hard to achieve! With this we had a bottle of white Rioja from Bilbao for an extraordinary €30! When did you last get away with paying €30 for a bottle of fragrant, drinkable wine in a restaurant?! Despite protesting that we were too full for desert, we shared a chocolate torte and they actually brought us two pieces so there was no arguing! All this - oysters, fish, prawns, a bottle of wine, a pint and a desert came to €100!!! Extraordinary good value for a highly enjoyable meal! We would have been allowed to bring the dog into dinner in the restaurant but decided not to risk our hyperactive hound. Breakfast was excellent - eggs benedict with smoked salmon and a full fry. And they serve decaff coffee!! We ate looking out over what must be a wonderful seascape had the weather not been foul with limited visibility. I never leave reviews generally but this experience just stood out so that I feel compelled to do so. Had the weather been better, we definitely would have rearranged plans to stay another day. This is the dog-friendly, charming, good food, wonderful location, establishment that I feel I have been looking for for years! Don't change!!More

Stopped off at this restaurant after visiting the caves. It has a lovely view overlooking the ocean and pier. Lovely outside seating to people watch and enjoy the views. On arrival it was very busy and we had no booking but the very friendly staff...managed to give us a table for just over an hour. Food came out very fast and it was the best homemade fish and chips I ever tasted. Would highly recommend this restaurant for fantastic food and very friendly and efficient staff.More

This place was a gem on our trip around the Burren. We were extremely well welcomed and they sat us by the fireplace with a lovely seaview, without asking for it. The seafood was delicious (I can say without exagerating the best I had in...Ireland so far). The waiters were truly kind even if it was fairly busy. Lovely place.More
