Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Popped into the Beachcomber without a reservation, lovely helpful staff got us in, we had steak and chips with peppercorn sauce, wow, the best I've ever had, utterly delicious, staff are very friendly and make sure you are well looked after.

I really like this restaurant but the previous occasion, and again this most recent visit has put a dampener on my view. For the 2nd time having booked in good time, we were relegated to back bar seating. On this occasion to favour the boss...and his table needs. Additionally we all had our favourite fish and chips. The chips tasted bad. Whatever the oil had been used for previously tainted the chip taste. Tasted like off curry. It's a pity because we always liked coming to this pub / restaurant.More

We had a table booked and on arrival were allocated one just opposite the very noisy bar. A couple came in at the same time as us and hadn't booked yet they were given a window table with a view, away from the busy bar...area, (they must have been locals!) The waitress serving made it look like it was a real chore to be working there. There was no pleasantness as she showed us to our table and when she returned to the table with our drinks she almost threw them down without a word. I actually found it amusing that she could behave like that and when she brought the food down to us (which was okay), I looked at my husband and laughed 'catch'! The waitress heard me and just smirked and walked away. The Beachcomber itself is not the cleanest and we could not wait to finish our meal and get out. I should say that there was one girl who took our payment at the end who seemed to be the only one doing anything that evening and was pleasant as we were leaving!! If you are looking for a nice relaxing meal out this is definitely NOT the place to go.More

Myself and a friend went to their barbaque on 31.7.22. She ordered a burger which was €6.50 (way overpriced). She asked for coleslaw and was told it was all gone. (this was only around 2.00 pm). She asked for cutlery; none, disposable plates; none. Then...asked for some lettuce and the girl serving went back and finally got some and a takeaway box where my friend put the lettuce in. She requested a knife to cut it as we were sharing it. A man at the barbaque gave her one and she cut it herself. We sat down at a table and ate a dry burger. Upon leaving, we noticed that a big tub of coleslaw magically appeared along with plastic cutlery, disposable plates and condiments. We walked away in disgust. TERRIBLE FOOD AND SERVICE. WE'LL NEVER BE BACK.More

Called ahead to see if they could seat our group of 15 people, and they were very accomodating, and we arrived to see two reserved tables set up for us. Service was friendly and efficient and the selection of food was excellent. Several first-timers loved...the Guinness, and I appreciated a couple of pints of Scraggy Bay on draught. A good, solid local pub with great food and a wonderful view of Lough Swilly. Highly recommended.More
