The restaurant’s name is probably Rock House (2 words). I almost created a separate entry- just an issue for reviewers. Go to this place! It has a great variety of food even off- season. People are great and let us eat late lunch. It seemed...as if they were closing early but stayed for us. I had an amazing quiche that had a lot of vegetables in it. My son had a wrap sandwich. Their service is excellent. The restaurant is probably crowded in the summer.More
Our tour guide had called ahead to make sure there was room, but its clear they are well prepared for large groups. My husband had turkey with lovely wine gravy. I had the fish and chips. The fish was really hot and tasty. The chips...were good. The service was very good, and the host/manager(?) was super. It is right next to the Rock of Cashel so its a good place to go before or after.More
Our tour guide suggested several restaurants after visiting the 'Rock' and we chose the Rock House. The food was delicious and everyone in our group enjoyed it. I also had the 'Hot Whiskey". MMMMMMMM that was good after a great meal. The service is amazing.
It was a cold rainy day at the Rock of Cashel. We saw the sign for Rockhouse Restaurant, from the Rock. You can get there by walking thru town, or taking a short cut thru car park, which is what we did. Our timing was...perfect, it was about 2-2:30pm and when we climbed up the steps to the upstairs restaurant, we were the only 4 people, besides the staff who were there. I gather from other reviews it can get crowded, but we had the place to ourselves, and the staff were delighted to see us. Yes, it is a cafeteria, but the seafood chowder and shepherd’s pie was great. Then I noticed they offered Irish Coffee. After a cold morning of sightseeing, it seemed the way to go. So we ordered 4 of them (one each). The staff laughed and actually brought them to our table, as they were made. Great time, great people, great food, terrific service. Highly recommended and don’t miss the Irish Coffee (even if it is not raining). Like a Rock itself, a must see in Cashel.
I’ve included a Irish Mother’s letter that was posted outside the toilet. It is amusing.More
We stopped at Rockhouse Restaurant at the suggestion of our driver and it was a great choice!! The shepherd's pie was out of this world!! And last but certainly not least the staff was wonderful. Go check them out if you have a chance!!
The Irish Stew on a cold rainy day will warm your bone , but come hungry, the servings are huuuge! We timed our lunch just after touring Cashel Rock in the rain. The homemade goodness, warmth and aromas that hit you on entering is overwhelming....The staff is proud of and loved what they’ve created here!More
