Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Loved my Scampi, really big portion too. I’ve been going her for some time but leaving my first review today.

Had a very pleasant evening here with two friends. Food was excellent with friendly service from the staff. There’s a real “old world” feel to the bar - nice antique features and collectibles on display. Would definitely recommend if you’re visiting Clonmel and looking for...somewhere nice to try!More

Absolutely dreadful pint of smithwicks, Atmosphere was poor, The barman fired the change on to the counter, I handed him the €10 note!!!! Everything was bad, the smithwicks was undrinkable, the smell of it would make you sick No, not up to standards at all,...totally unacceptable, and as far as I'm aware , I was served by the propetier!!!! A total no for me, called around to another licenced premises, and it was very very busy , with no issues at all.More

Sorry to hear about your pint. It is rare we get complaints over our pints and would have gladly replaced it if we were made aware of an issue with it. We hope you will give us a chance to rectify your experience.

Great bar, very unique. Met the namesake of the bar on a very quiet night on a week night in November. Great hospitality, lovely food and drinks. Couldn’t recommend it anymore!

On a drizzly Thursday night on our our 4th night in Ireland , where else could we go but an Irish pub for dinner. Now we have already had Irish Stew, Bacon Cabbage Mash and Medieval Beef Guinness Stew so tonight we went for the...other Irish classic.....Lasagne. Delicious and very filling with coleslaw , excellent best on tour chips, salad and garlic bread. Washed down with the most excellent Smithwick's pint. (Pronounced Smithicks , silent w) Great prompt service from Mr Tierney.More

Food is quite good here. Stir fried vegetables were quite good, but I did not appreciate too much deep fried chicken wings. What I found surprising is that they don't have Irish beers! Only typical Heineken, Coors etc. They play the same Apocalyptica-inspired music every...day. I guess it does not matter if you pay only occasional visits, but it becomes noticeable after the second visit. During the week the place is not too busy - no idea how it is on weekends, though.More

Sean Tierney runs one of the finest bars and restaurants in Ireland. The ambiance has been created over many years of collecting, arranging and rearranging. North American Bars would pay a pretty penny to create what Sean has done as a natural evolution. Let’s not...forget the food, a 10 out of 10.More

You should be ok just to walk in. Just depending on the size of your party it may be better to ring and book if you party is more than two or three.
