Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Visited the Lobster today for lunch with my family. The food was top class. There was a vegan section in the menu which was most welcome. Some restaurants have a vegan section but don't go to much trouble with the food. The vegan food in the Lobster was outstanding. I had "vish and chips" which was made from a banana blossom plant. My kids food (non vegan) was also very well prepared and looked great. If you are holidaying in South Kerry and you happen to be a vegan, don't pass this door.

We popped into The lobster for a quick lunch on our way around the ring of Kerry. We just had a chowder and kids had pasta. Chowder was really nice and the kids ate all the pasta (which can be unusual). The service was a little slow but i think we just coincided with a larger group so i dont would be representative of normal service.

They literally worked non stop from the min we came im to ensue all of their customers were happy and couldn’t do enough for every table even though there’ll were so busy with a queue at the door at 1 point . All of the staff were also so hands on , helpful and friendly ! This established is well worth a visit , food is so tasteful , fish and chips is a must and their choc brownie with raspberry sorbet is to die for ! All in all a hugh thumbs up from me and my family !

Very dependable for family friendly service and food. Simple pasta/sausage/chips/etc options for the smallies. The 'adult' options include a good mix of fish (naturally) and other pub grub staples, perfect after a day on the beach. The fish burger was my own favorite ... and the Guinness is good! We have visited several times during our time at Waterville. Staff are genuinely friendly and attentive. Can be busy at times (usually 6-8pm we noticed) with queues forming. We always ate out front which worked well in the fine weather. Walk-ins only in our experience.

We made the 25 minute drive from Port Magee to Waterville, because we could not find a decent meal on our trip in three days. The Lobster Bar & and Restaurant was a great experience, and I would recommend it to those in the surrounding area.
I called ahead and they seemed fully booked on a Saturday night, which would be no surprise. The woman who answered the phone was very nice though, and managed to squeeze us in. The servers were very attentive, and personable.
I had the calamari appetizer, fish and chips, and companion had the fillet of sea bass. Companion loved her food and I enjoyed my fish and chips. The basil mayo for calamari was a nice touch, and I asked for another to be brought on the side for my fries. We ended the evening with local whiskey and I was lectured not to drink it on the rocks. All these years, I had violating the sacred act of whiskey drinking, and I never knew.
Fun and no fuss atmosphere.
Only a minor gripe -- where's the lobster? I saw picture of it in other reviews so I hope maybe it will return on the menu.
It was a great time, and if we are in the area again, we'll be back.

We had a family holiday in Waterville in August. The location of the Lobster is perfect and has beautiful Seaviews. We ate there twice. The first was a beautiful sunny day and we sat out front. It was really busy but very well organised. We ate chicken wings, calamari, chicken and beef burger. They were delicious! The next time it was raining so we sat inside. The kids spotted the lobster tank and a staff member very kindly look out a couple to show them and chatted away to them, they were delighted! Food was beautiful once again.
I would highly recommend the Lobster for its welcoming friendly staff and its amazing food.

We were really impressed with the Lobster bar this evening. We were seated very quickly in a lovely outdoor terrace out the back which was sheltered which was ideal as it was quite sunny. Staff were very helpful, prompt with service and pleasent. We had a beautiful meal of sea bass, wings & calamari and delicious brownies for desert. After a few nights of eating in the area the Lobster was definitely the best and we can see why it's so popular. 100% will reccomend.

We arrived too late for lunch time and too early for dinner time. They offer food all day, but out of hours they offer only a reduced menu. Seafood chowder, fish and chips, chicken wings and calamari. It was more than enough for us at that time, but we wish to come back there when full menu is served. Service was very kind.

Authentic Irish cuisine which is absolutely delicious. Great range of 'non beige' food items for children. We had the Chicken Wings to start followed by Bacon & Cabbage, the Beef & Guinness stew and a baby bowl... couldn't decide which dish was the winner. We both had food envy so ended up splitting the dishes. The baby bowl and cordial is free for little ones. Lovely touch. Will definitely be back!

Food was nice, however I was 40 minutes waiting for my main. The five other people at my table had all finished their meal by the time I had received mine. The manager gave me a 4 euro reduction off my meal and dealt with the problem in a dishonest and unprofessional manner in saying ‘the salmon takes longer than the other mains’. He was not one bit apologetic about the matter and laughed about his mistake instead of being sincere about the issue.

We had dinner there a couple of days ago with family. Restaurant was extremely busy but the food omg it was just delicious. Fish and chips were so fresh, the best mushy peas I've ever experienced. The same with a chicken burger and beef burger. Everything was nice and fresh. I would highly recommend this place.

We needed a pub meal for the kids and us, and we were so pleasantly surprised by this place. Service excellently accommodating Covid-19 restrictions. The fish and chips are excellent - succulently fresh cod in a lovely light batter with excellent mushy pea ‘tapenade’ and tarter sauce. Chips good. Salad great on others’ dishes. Vegetarian options also hit the spot. Highly recommended.

We stopped in here while driving the Ring of Kerry. It's cafeteria style for ordering- you order and receive some items at the counter and other items come from the kitchen once you're seated. Soup, seafood pie, salad, etc. and the veggie option- a jackfruit BBQ burger with sweet potato chips. Definitely unique for Ireland! I appreciated the change of pace for vegetarian food. Nothing was spectacularly good, but it was a decent meal and pretty quick.

Myself and my daughter's (and two dogs) came here twice during our week long stay at St. Finians bay, which is about 20 mins drive away. The food is fantastic, I had salmon the first time and sea bass the second time. Both times, the fish was exceptional. My daughter's had the cajun chicken burger and the fish burger and both really enjoyed them. Service was quick, especially considering it was very busy both times. They have a nice seating area around the back where we say as we had the dogs with us. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

Food was amazing we had the rib eye steak and roast of the day (beef) both really well cooked and succulent. Staff were excellent, very attentive and savage pints of Guiness too. Would highly recommend!
