OK but not good , food was middle of the road and nothing special at all. Nice location though by the river.

Wonderful rounded flavors and friendly service. Great location on the water. I'll definitely return.
Food was exceptional and the waiter could not have been more accommodating highly recommend and would most definitely return.
We visited last month as had heard good things about the service and the ambiance .. both excellent. However the food was European Indian .. lacked authenticity. I love Indian food .. first choice for a meal out and sadly, despite the great location, the...cozy atmosphere and excellent waiter .. the food let Mother India down. Not just my meal , my friend was equally disappointed.More
We ate in Mother India last night while staying in Athlone. Location is great but the restaurant is outdated and cold and a gas heater was placed in the middle of the floor. We ordered a bottle of house red which was cold and unpalatable....The waiter was nice but very inexperienced. We ordered a jug of water when our mains arrived which was placed on our table with no glasses. Two other couples in the restaurant ordered a jug of water with their meals however the waiter simply picked up our jug and proceeded to fill their glasses with the water we were drinking. Everyone was pretty shocked and amused. The food was OK and the naan bread was really good. Good price but avoid if at all possibleMore
A lovely relaxed atmosphere. Beautiful food. Fresh, rich and tasty. Customer service excellent. All 4 of us loved it. Left full and happy
Dreadful is the only was to describe this place. When we entered the restaurant it was empty and cold. We ordered gin and tonic to drink as we reviewed menu. The waiter went on phone to someone and came back to say that the did...not serve beers or spirits only wine. We we ordered red wine but when it was brought to table it was so cold it must have come from fridge. At this point we noticed there were no cooking smells at all and as the waiter telephoned our order I surmise that the food is cooked in sister Restaurant and brought to Mother India. We cancelled order and left .TMore
Got a large range of food from the menu as a takeaway. The quality was uniformly excellent and great value.
Thank you
Went in to the restaurant with two friends and decided to have starters only accompanied by rice and a few drinks. The waiter didn’t seem impressed by the fact that we only had the starters. The restaurant was dead quiet. Terrible ambience. Sorry! Loved the...hospitality of the people in Athlone, but this restaurant left a bad taste in the mouth!More
We ate in Mother India after several days of Irish pub food, and were looking forward to the change. If you know Indian restaurants on the British Isles, you know what to expect, and there were no surprises. The food was a bit less spicy...than what we're used to, and the flavors less interesting, but aside from that it was not bad. The service was very slow, but that is also expected from Indian restaurants.More
This place is near Sean's pub on the river, OK if you want to grab a snack. It was empty when I stopped in so would not want to sit down there, felt bleak. The food was OK but bland by Indian standards (maybe to...suit local tasts?).More
Very good food, great service! We enjoyed a very nice dinner right next to the Shannon river. Only 5 min walk say from the marina.
Love the food served here never a bad meal,Always happy to help you in whhat ever way they can, really enjoyed my time at this fine Indian restaurant, 5stars everytime... Highly recommend....
Absolutely disgusting, this place should be closed. We love Indian food but this place would turn you off Indian food the about this place is the beer they get from Sean's bar next door that they serve. I'd give them zero if I could
