In my recent visit to this quaint coffee shop in Athlone, I couldn't help but appreciate the delicious food they served. The power pancakes were on point, the fruit was fresh and the presentation was pleasing to the eye. It's clear that they put thought...and effort into their menu. However, I must admit that I found the overall experience a tad overrated, given some of the glowing reviews I had seen. While the food was indeed good, I didn't find it to be an exceptional standout in comparison to similar places I've visited. The ambiance and decor of the coffee shop are undeniably charming, and the staff were friendly and attentive, which added to the overall positive experience. It's important to remember that taste is subjective, and while I may not have had a mind-blowing experience, others might. So, while I do recommend trying this spot for yourself, just be prepared for the possibility that it might not fully live up to the hype that some reviewers have bestowed upon it.More

Excellent experience..

Just had a take-away lunch again from Bastion Kitchen - it was excellent as always - well presented and really tasty. I picked it up in the morning- the staff were busy but very polite and accommodating. I've had breakfast a few times there also...and it was of an excellent standard. Well, well done to all of you!More

Wholesome food

I’ve went a few times to this place. It offers very nice wholesome food and has a great menu with a lot of options to choose from. The owner of the establishment is a lovely lady, however, there is a very rude worker who has...a very bad manner towards customers and she has a very unfriendly face. She can’t seem to cope during busy times and is therefore dismissive of customers. If she is reads this review, she knows exactly who she is. It is a shame because the other workers are lovely.More

Very tasty healthy options

Lovely menu that offers a great range of high quality food. Portions were good, food was very tasty with good variety. Nice selection of "healthy" treats too. The staff were very friendly too. I would most definitely recommend for lunch and will go again if...ever in Athlone.More

Lovely healthy restaurant

Lots of lovely, healthy vegan options and treats. Coffees too with plant milk. There's also a health food store where you can stock up.

Rude staff and overpriced

Very rude staff and overpriced salad box (€12). You need to update your online menu! Prices and menu doesn’t correspond to actual prices/ menu items. I won’t be back!

Tasty

A real gem in the heart of Ireland

Best little cafe in Athlone...just a short spin off the Dublin-Galway motorway. Delicious homemade food...NO CONVEYER BELT FOOD SERVED HERE!! Great coffee, super salads, fabulous breads and their cakes are to die for! This may be a small little cafe but it's punching way above...it's weight in the culinary field. Parking close by or just order ahead, grab and go.More

Healthy food.

Lovely soup (but not the one as advertised on the black board) and toasted scone for a lunch snack . A rustic heathy cafe with a good local following. Tray bakes and wraps with various healthy drink options.

Great coffee!

Stopped here for a quick coffee the other week after a recommendation from a friend! It didn't disappoint, coffee was great and friendly staff. Just unlucky that we were unable to stay for food as it looked delicious!

Gorgeous cafe in lovely Athlone - outstanding takeaway coffee!

Splendid takeaway coffee - absolutely delicious (decaf) - just the right temperature, smooth taste and lovely flavour. Look forward to returning to sample the delicious looking food and treats. Staff were fab too.

Hit the spot

Found this little place at lunch time and had very good food. The place was packed, and that is usually a good sign. Staff were lovely too.
