I get to Athlone a couple times a year from the states to visit family. And when we’re here we always make a beeline to Corner House Bistro. From outside side appearances it looks like a typical cafe, but nothing could be further from the...truth. Yes, there are comfort fare selections but then the talented kitchen staff expand their reach to exotic international cuisine, all the while using exceptional quality Irish products. I had a Lentil & Sweet Potato Curry with cardamom-scented rice, which was outstanding. We were also offered a tasting of their soup du jour, which was a Cauliflower & Brie. OMG! Well and truly recommended

This was a gem of a find. Lovely breakfast and the waitress was lovely, friendly and bubbly with nothing any trouble. The food was good quality and well presented at a reasonable cost. A place I look forward to coming back to on my next...trip to Ireland.More

Joe’s Place

Traveling from Galway to Dublin we stopped at Corner House Bistro for lunch. Even though the restaurant was very busy, Joe worked us in in a short time. Sasha, our wait person, was wonderful. The food was amazing! Can’t say enough good things about this...bistro🥰More

Wonderful food

Group of us had a number of different mains this afternoon. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed theirs. Taster soups beforehand was a lovely touch. Seated upstairs in a very pleasant room. Cosy Cafe with Great Food

This is a lovely cosy little casual cafe in the middle of town. The food is fresh and well executed. They even gave a little taster cup of soup while I waited which was a lovely touch. Lovely staff too!

LOVED our Lunch!!

Such a lovely cafe! I am traveling in a group of 3 couples with my husband. We are on a coach tour and were given time to enjoy lunch. We found the Corner House Bistro as we were walking in Athlone. The staff were very...friendly. The food options were many. Our lunches were delicious. My husband and I shared a spicy Mexican chicken wrap and fries. It was delicous! Not very spicy at all. My friend had a BLT and it was loaded with great bacon!! We are very happy that we ate lunch here and if we came through this city again we would choose to eat her again. They also had some gift items in the front and pretty art.More

We toddled in off the street near closing time. No problem, We had delightful food as always. I could eat here everyday

Beautiful food, even better service

What a find!!! Dropped in for a cuppa on a very wet and wild afternoon. Thought I was entering a coffee shop, but was in a very welcoming, warm and lively bistro. Hubby had the most beautiful tomato and thyme soup, whilst I had perhaps...the best crumble I have ever tasted, served with cream, crème anglaise and a scoop of ice-cream for good measure. Mine was so good that he ordered a bowl for himself 🙂 Can't begin to explain how pleasant the staff and atmosphere were. Was sorry my trip wasn't longer so I could go back! Just fantasticMore

Great coffee shop / restaurant

Very good staff and lovely food
