Just back from the Bailey. Stopped in to watch a football match on TV and grab a bite to eat with my wife and two kids. Service was fab, decor typical Irish pub, clean toilets etc. We Just had three mains & deserts, the eldest child got his sausage and chips served first. I had hake and wife had cottage pie both were great portions and both plates were polished off. Desert was profiteroles for myself & pavlova for herself. Again great sized portions and finished off I will add Idont believe the profiteroles were made in house, but I didn't really expect them to be. The young lady (whom we believe was recently promoted to assistant manager) was fab very attentive to our visit and apologised several times for a customer, who's language was a little colourful during the game. Came upon by chance but will definitely return. If you fancy a decent feed and a pint then yeah I would recommend the Bailey

The Bailey Bar I came across this fabulous place when I was in Athlone with my father , we decided to go and have some Lunch from the moment we entered we were greeted with a friendly smile. I was impressed with the layout of this fabulous place Hand sanitisers were in place keeping with covid Regulations . and we were shown to our table , we ordered our food it was absolutely delicious our food was made to order great value for money. If I could give more than stars I would. I will be visiting the Bailey Bar again great food and lovely atmosphere excellent value for money and most of all staff are friendly and welcoming and go out of their way to make sure the customer is happy, thank you. Spent the weekend in Athlone and was lucky to find The Bailey. Firstly staff were excellent. Girl at front of house could not have been nicer or more obliging in these difficult times. Had a table Saturday evening (walk in) and booked a table on Sunday to watch the football and get some lunch and a few pints. Food was top notch. We had the roast toasted with hand cut chips and gravy and Beef Asian noodles. From the few places we visited while in Athlone this was by far our favourite. We will be back.

Came here with my friends for food and a few drinks and instantly we thought the waitress Maria was so lovely, the boys with us laughed and had the craic with her as she laughed back with them. We ordered food and one drink each and as the food was placed on the table, our server Maria came to us to tell us her manager said she wants us out now and they won’t serve us anymore. We wearnt being loud and behaved the exact same as every other customer there. We were instantly annoyed at this and we spoke to the manager, she was rude and unreasonable towards us. We then had to get up and leave without even eating out food which we paid for , we were there for 15 minutes max, and with the covoid restrictions we are entitled to an hour and 45 minutes which we definitely didn’t get. I felt as if we were discriminated against and I do not recommend this place as the manger was not showing acceptable behaviour.

I never wrote a bad review for any business before but I feel in this case I need to. I know that covid-19 has put a strain on all businesses but this pub is completely negligent. A few mates and myself had a meal and a few drinks here mid week. We were greeted at the door, my friend said he had booked a table but the waitress couldn't find the reservation, however she found place for us. We were waiting almost an hour for our food to arrive, when the food did arrive all the orders were wrong and we had no cutlery. The waitress, which we later found out is a "manager", slapped them onto the table and scurried off before we could say anything. Very politely, We called her to try get her attention and she blatantly ignored us everytime. She was also very cheeky to other customers, not just us - which created a tense and awkward atmosphere. My friend went to the bar and he was ordered to sit down, as nobody was allowed go up to the bar.(understable, but we needed assistance) One young waitress, (I can't remember her name) came over to check on us and we explained that our order was wrong and she was so helpful, eventually we got our proper order. We weren't looking for a handout but a complementary drink would not go a miss? Since we were waiting basically 2 hours before we got what we actually ordered. No social distancing in place, sanitiser depositories were either empty or not working. The bathrooms were filthy and the actual dining area was not much better. Even though our experience was not the most enjoyable, we all agreed that the food was good. Maybe we came on a bad day,I would go back because of the food but the "manager" needs to be held accountable for her bad attitude.

I was visiting Athlone with family & booked a table of 4 for Sat Aug 1st. I was shocked to see that staff wore no masks or visors, no sanitiser observed & table was dirty. We were waiting for our food for one hour & it was impossible to get a staff to order a drink, when we called a male staff member he shouted one minute & never returned. People were walking up to bar to order drinks..most of whom were drunk & on top of others. The final straw was when I went to use the toilet at 10pm & it was jammed with “ladies” drunk, shouting, blocking sinks & falling on top of other customers. We spent approximately €180 on starters, main courses & a few drinks. The food was lovely but so disappointing to see zero social distancing or Covid guidelines being adhered too.

I went to this pub last night for dinner with a small group of 4. I had this booked from early Saturday morning and I requested a table inside as we dont smoke. I was told that is no problem. Upon arrival we were seated outside and when I questioned this with our waiter I was told well there are no table inside even though I had it booked. Also upon sitting at the table it was still dirty from the previous customers, dirty cutlery left on the table and had not been wiped down. While the food was very good I dont have any complaints on that but not one member of staff had a facemask or gloves on them. There were also a huge volume of people drinking in the beer garden and no social distancing was being maintained. I watch staff pick up dirty glasses bring them to the bar and then pick up food and delivery it to tables, I find it hard to believe hands had been washed every time as everything was happening very fast. While this is not entirely the staff's fault it is certainly the responsibility of management who were present on site. They have a duty of care to their staff and also patrons. Also a group of about 15 arrived in which I thought a max of 6 could sit at a table? I never felt more uncomfortable in a pub in my entire life and it was like there was nothing wrong, pile as many people into that beer garden as possible. No sanitisizing stations except for inside the front door. When leaving I felt like reporting them to the guards. Management should be ashamed.

My husband, myself and two friends ate here on the 3rd November or should I say did not eat. We ordered three chicken gougon meals and one cottage pie. The cottage pie was like something collected from the rubbish bin. It was hard on top and when my friend looked underneath it was a big black lump pf something unrecognisable. We decided to share our gougon with our friend as her meal was u edible. The chips were stone cold and when we ate some of the chicken we realised it was off. It tasted sour and disgusting. We spoke to Shannon the manageress and she acknowledged that the whole meal was awful. She was very apologetic and did not charge for any meal as we ate hardly anything. She also gave us a drink on the house. She was very nice but it didn't stop my husband from having dihorrea all night and I having a very upset stomach. Our friends were ok because they ate less than we did. They also served the food on wooden platters that looked dirty. These should not b used in restaurants as they are germ carriers.

Landed in for a bite to eat with 9 other lads on a stag fearing the worst that we wouldnt be taken as the place was extremely busy, but I think there names paidi behind the bar and shannon who served us said give me 5 minutes I'll get a spot for yee. Paidi served us very promptly and we had to wait for a group to finish there meal but we were in no hurry as there was a soccer match on 👌 when we got our food (when they all decided what they wanted 🤦‍♂️😂) UNBELIEVABLE couldnt fault it. We came back for the full Irish the next morning and didnt want to leave. Great spot well done to chefs and staff we will def return . Very accommodating 🏆🏆🏆🏆

We had a meal here last night , we had our dog with us which wasn’t a problem we were seated outside we didn’t get the servers name but he was very welcoming & friendly he advised us that it was so busy that there would be a minimum 20mins before we would be our order could be taken and asked if this would suit us which we had no issues with because it was a fantastic evening and the place was extremely busy . He located a table outside brought the dog a bowl of water and then Nathan arrived with menus , he took our drinks order and he returned 20/25 minutes later & good food order. We gave Nathan our order & as we had to people with Coeliac disease with us he went to the kitchen to double check all that was ordered was suitable. Food arrived it was super tasty & plenty of !!! We would have no hesitation in recommending The Bailey and we will return again. Thanks for everything Nathan !!

I would highly recommend this restaurant when visiting Athlone!! A group of friends eat there and ended up staying all night! The boss burger was so tasty and delicious and the Lads really enjoyed their bbq box burger. Our Waiter Brian was so pleasant and friendly, a great bartender too, was at our table asking if we'd like another drink before we were well finished our last drink. A great buzz in the Bailey

The entire experience was disappointing and beyond upsetting. The food took 40 minutes to come and when it did all 3 our meals were cold, not only this they forgot our side orders aswell, we decided not to ask for them because our meal was disgusting, however they still tried to charge us for our sides. What really upset me was the servers. They never checked on us and One girl in particular when I told her our food was cold she started smirking with her coworker.

We visited her in August and were delighted with our choice. We ordered Caesar salad and the steak sandwich. Both were lovely and good portion sizes. The steak sandwich is in our opinion the nicest we have had .It came with chips ,salad and onion rings and coleslaw and a decent size steak . Staff were lovely and service was great. I was just sorry we did not come across this pub on our first night. Food menu much better than our hotel menu. will definitely visit here next time in Athlone.

Visited this Fine Establishment Last week with some Friends to celebrate a family occasion .Luckily we had made the reservation in advance as the place was just buzzing (This is a very popular Pub/Restaurant with both the Locals and Visitors. On Arrival we were warmly greeted and seated by a very Efficient Manageress and our Pre-Meal Drinks arrived very Promptly. Food was ordered and we all sat enjoying the Drinks and Lovely Atmosphere .The Food arrived within a very reasonable time and i must say it was just brilliant ,we all had something different and everything was perfect . (followed down by a 'few' more drinks ) Thank you to all the staff, we had a lovely Night...Highly Recommended...

We had a very pleasant experience in The Bailey last Sunday for lunch . Myself and my husband ordered the steak sandwich and the vol au vent , which both tasted exceptional and of good value. The staff were incredibly accommodating and the service was excellent . We would like to especially mention Maria our waitress, was so friendly and looked after us very well. Looking forward to our next meal at The Bailey again soon.
