Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Worst experience I have EVER had in Ireland. We stopped to use the restroom. I told my brother to buy a beer as I think it’s rude to use the facilities without purchasing anything. He also went to use the restroom and the then bartender...proceeded to berate my sister into purchasing two additional beverages. Unbelievably rude. I completely understand and agree that facilities should be for patrons only but the attitude of this bartender was beyond the pale. We were still considering where to spend the night but chose to press on due to this bartender.More

Nellie creates her own Irish atmosphere in an vintage hotel with modernised rooms. With her assistant she serves different kind of Irish perfect breakfasts. Hotel is well situated in the middle of the town.

We knew it was a small hotel- I would think younger people would love it here. There is great atmosphere, although for us 'oldies', having young ladies in their 20's coming to breakfast in their pyjamas, was definitely an eye-opener..a few were quite embarrassed, to...say the least. Our room was 'compact' and clean. I think 2 nights are enough here, tho' it is in the town and you can easily walk to the nearby bars and restaurants and dancing. Breakfast was excellent and RITA is a gem, remembering everything! No tea/coffee facilities (can be purchased at the bar). No evening meals available early May, so we had to go into town-excellent places around. No Wifi here. It was a good experience, tho' perhaps better for the younger generation. We could have stayed at a 4-star hotel for €10 extra a night.... ENJOY!More

Stopped here for breakfast. The food was okay, but not as good as most of the Irish breakfasts and buffets I had throughout my trip.

A group of 10 cyclists converges on a bar is not the beginning of a joke, but the situation we faced just last week. It was clear from our accents that we were tourists, so they provided table service, which was not the norm. The...food was fair to good, but the prices were reasonable. No one left hungry.More

Arrived at ten to nine on a Friday night to eat and was told "no,no food after nine" and when mentioned it was only ten to nine, staff became rude telling us "to go get a takeaway" safe to say won't be returning or recommending!

The room was dirty. There were large webs with dead flies in the window behind us. The servers were pleasant, but didn't do much. The food was really bad.

Our first stop for 3 days after landing at Shannon was perfect! Nellies was not some anonymous hotel but chock full of Irish personality. My husband was even invited to place some bets on the horse race that some of the locals in the pub...where following. Nellie was in charge of collecting the bets and calling the bookie. Great fun. Also, highly recommend Lisdoonvarna as a base for exploring the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren. Not crowded and except Sept. festival. And it is an actual town (unlike Doolin which is a cluster of pubs and BnBs) and we found good music nightly at the Rathburn Inn down the street from Nellies. Clean rooms and good breakfast too.More
