We wandered into the Brass Monkey based on online recommendations and its proximity to the harbor on a busy Friday night. We were able to grab the last high top table close to the bar for dinner, where we enjoyed their seafood chowder and bruschetta with prawns. This was the last night of our week long journey exploring Ireland, and... More

We arrived about 6.30 on a busy Friday and were lucky to get the last 2 places at the bar. There is an early monkey offer before 7 but we opted for the shared platter which was delicious with calamari, hake, salmon, smoked salmon on Guinness bread, salad and chips. Desserts were 6.50 Eton mess and ban offer. Pity Guinness... More

Lovely calamari starters, followed by an excellent grilled Hake for main course. The bruschetta was also good. A bit noisy, but the food is good, at a reasonable price point. Would return. Suggest reserving a table.

I went with my husband we were flying to copenhagen the next day and staying at a hotel at the airport. We just went in looking for a meal and it turned out a great experience. We had calamari mussels and scampi which we shared. All very tasty.

Check out the calamari starter...a pile of calamari, perfectly cooked in a thin crispy batter. The scallops were succulent and scrumptious - I expected a small portion(3) as had been kindly briefed by the staff in advance, but I didn't expect the black pudding to accompany it (beyond manky and removed it to the side swiftly). The restaurant was packed,... More

I'm a tourist from South Africa and like I booked a lot of tours beforehand, I bought a 25 euro voucher for Brass Monkey and left it as a treat near the end of my trip. I asked whether they do takeaways and while I'm still speaking the waitress tells me so and so down the street does takeaways. So... More

Hi, I'm not altogether clear about what happened here. It seemed you wanted takeaway which we don't do. The waitress presumably thought you were just having a rest before going to get the takeaway elsewhere. We welcome solo tourists. We are in a tourist town and welcome all tourists and locals. We apologise you felt uncomfortable. Thank you The Brass... More

We've asked for seafood (plate for 2), however it is not enough food. The prawns were not cleaned. A bit expensive. In my opinion does not worth it.

We booked the early bird and arrived at 6.35 and our table was being prepared which was no problem. We were seated by a very pleasant and friendly lady. Our orders were taken fairly promptly at 6.45 as we were conscious that we had to be gone by 8.15 which was fair enough. The starter was served reasonably soon after... More

It is most common to add a 10-15% service charge for tables of 6 or more. We add 10%. I'm sorry you felt a bit rushed in the end. There seemed to be a small bit of pressure on the kitchen but good food takes time. You accepted the main courses were worth waiting for and beautifully presented. I accept... More

I brought my Mam to The Brass Monkey for Mother's Day and it was a great dining experience. The food is top notch with tapas and main course options available. The staff are very friendly and attentive too, my fave spot in Howth! A must-visit if you're a lover of fresh seafood. (I highly recommend the prawns!) And, equally important... More
