A mid-week trip to Howth is always a pleasure of mine as I tend to always work weekends. Myself and my Mother who have both been working on the front lines during Covid-19 had our first day out and a chance to see each other...and chat in nearly 6 months. On our way back to the car park we passed The Waterside Bar at around 5pm and it looked very welcoming so we decided to grab a bite to eat. We were seated immediately by a very friendly female host after I gave her my name and contact number for tracing purposes and I used the bathroom while she then seated my mother who was waiting outside at a lovely table out front which was spotless clean and it was lovely to enjoy the afternoon sunshine (unfortunately I didn't catch her name) We just wanted something light before the drive home so we ordered Spicy Chicken Wings to share with chips, a Club Orange and a pint of Bulmers. Drinks arrived very quickly and withing 10-15 minutes the food was served. Hot and Delicious and very well presented not to mention very tasty. The atmosphere was light and friendly and relaxed and we did not feel rushed or under pressure eat drink and go (which was what I was worried about as it was my first time visiting a Pub/Restaurant since the new rules came in) We finished our food and paid the bill which was a very modest 24.15 euro. We asked if we could have a box to take the remaining chicken wings away as the portion was massive and as I told the server "they are too good to leave behind" and it wasn't a problem. After the bill was paid we then spent about another 15 minutes finishing our drinks and did not feel under any pressure to vacate. In all we spent about 1 hour and 30 minutes. In closing the staff, service and food were excellent. The premises and facilities were spotless and I'll be back again because I had serious food envy of the Fish and Chips which looked amazing so I'll bring a hungry appetite next time. Thank you for making our first visit to a Pub/Restaurant since March 2020 so pleasant.More

Visited today lunch time...Not one of the staff wearing masks, when I queried this one of the staff said she didn't know why they were not wearing them and probably would wear them when the virus got worse, no contact details taken either.......also salt pepper...and vinegar condiments brought to table, would prefer if they were individually wrapped .... would not recommend anyone to visit there until they comply with regulations.More

Myself and my friend were here today for some food. I ordered the roast chicken and was extremely disappointed with the dinner. Mash potatoes were so watery and when I asked for a new bowl of them, I got the exact same watery potatoes again....Waiters and waitresses passed us by numerous times and never asked us if our meals were ok. Would not recommend dining here and will not be returning.More

We visited yesterday with our kids. It was quite busy. The food was OK, but people were seated too close together, and the toilets hadn't been cleaned in some time. There was also no contact details taken for contact tracing. We left feeling very uneasy,...and I wouldn't recommend this place until they up their game regarding following the covid 19 rules.More

We had thought about eating at one of the restaurants, but as it was the Christmas holidays and most were closed we took ourselved to the Waterside bar. We were five and sat ourselves upstairs where we got a lovely window seat and a clear...view of the harbour. Food was very good, I had the sea chowder and a Guinness and the others also enjoyed their meals as well.More

We had 2 seafood chowders soups . The soup wasn't hot enough, the vegetables inside the soup wasn't cooked and the outside of both of the plates was dirty from the soup. Really poor quality and service.

We came here after a 2 hour walk & felt very at home. Comfortable seating and great fish n chips helped us recover.

Popped in for a beer and some food. Service was quick, friendly and professional. Food came out pipping hot with few pints of Guinness to wash it down. Will return.

Our group consisting of 4 adults and 6 children arrived at the Waterside pub for some lunch last Monday. We had buggies with us. The pub was not too busy and we sat the children down and my sister placed our order. An abrupt barman...asked us in a rude way to move our buggies out of the way which we did. After a couple of minutes we felt the atmosphere was not at all suitable for families and we didn't like the way the staff had been, so we decided to move on to somewhere more suitable. My sister approached the bar and asked the barman to cancel our order, just a few moments after placing it. As I was collecting my buggy the barman turned to another barman and very loudly repeated our order and said the people you come across when you don't have a machine gun with you and they both sniggered and start laughing. I approached the bar and said to him that I hope he was not directing that comment at my sister and he just sniggered and laughed. One of our children is under going aggressive chemotherapy and is extremely sick. He was with us sitting happily on one of the very rare days he is able to do so. I think the barman is a complete disgrace and is clearly in the wrong business. Shame on him. By the look of the reviews on here staff hospitality is clearly your Achilles heel. An extremely frustrated ladyMore
