My first visit to Barrowskeep having been constantly recommended by friends. The menu is a mix of fine dining and bistro which works very well, good value wines. I was especially impressed when the chef adapted his tempura to make it gluten free as i...am caoeliac, my first proper fish and chips in 4 years! And all without fuss on a busy night in the restaurant, that is first class service and indicative of the great talent on display. I hope to return again, would highly recommend.More

Fab food here ... good service with excellent choice of foods. Went for first time in August 2020 on a recommendation as we never heard of the place although we live locally!!! If you’re in Kilkenny area then make sure to try it. Will definitely...return. Only drawback was the fact that we had to wait outside with others although we had a specific time booked so not great from Covid-19 perspectiveMore

Four of us had dinner in Barrows Keep Saturday night 5th September and we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Covid 19 controls were as expected and there was plenty of space in the dining room. Food and service was really good. The group had starters...mains and some had desserts and there were no complaints. The decor is attractive and modern and the atmosphere is relaxing. We have eaten in many restaurants since the re opening and this one rates as the being the highest on all levels. We look forward to the next visit.More

I had done my research for finding a nice place to eat while staying nearby in Carlow. This restaurant came up and was a 30 minute drive but well worth the effort. The decor is very nice and modern. All tables were very well spaced...out and we were happy with our corner table for privacy. Staff were absolutely excellent and so friendly and polite. Special note to Dawn! We had scallops as starter - georgous. For mains I had black sole and with garlic and lemon butter and it was divine. My partner had a burger which he said was excellent. The chips were some of the best we ever had. To finish off we shared a sorbet with prosecco to pour over it; my partner liked this more than I did. The coffee was delicious and we enquired of the brand - Barista Bay from Dunmore East. Something I have yet to check out further! All round excellent dinner and if it was closer to home a place we would definitely visit again and again. Highly recommended.More

I had an excellent meal at Barrow's Keep. The starter and main course in particular were outstanding. It was very well set up for social distancing and safety was taken very seriously. I would highly recommend a visit

Our first post lockdown outing and it was worth the wait ! I have visited here on several occasions and have never been disappointed. A late , that day, request for a table for 3 was not an issue. The wines are surprisingly good value...as is the food which is consistently good. The prawns are marvelous and scallops are even better. Steak often a disappointment when dining out is to be recommended. The staff are experienced and even when not serving your table offer friendly greetings on arrival. Customer service and relations obviously important here. The owners have worked hard to get to this point and good luck to them , if we want quality in the area we must support them , frequently. Since opening in Thomastown Barrows Keep has become a very important part of the our small community and is certainly now a “destination venue” with people traveling from far and wide. Barrows Keep is out on its own and will go from strength to strength.More

Ate here last night and was a little worried that the evening would be a bit weird and not as enjoyable as a few months back.We had a really nice time - felt really well taken care and while there were lots of precautionary measures...in place the atmosphere was really relaxing which i thought was impressive.Food was excellent and service top notch.More
