Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stopped in for lunch. Waitress was not friendly. Food was bland. When my husband paid our bill, the owner was rude. We were touring Ireland and our guide was appalled as well. He was quite embarrassed that a fellow Irish could act this way!! He...will not recommend this place for future tours!!!More

Really great accommodation in a fantastic location with every amenity in the town on its doorstep. Really friendly and helpful staff and the breakfast is fresh and piping hot. Will definitely return.

When I tried to order a full breakfast I was told it was too late for that. At the same time a local customer ordered the same and he was served. Consequently I left and did not come back.

Top class food in a nice location. Indoor and outdoor seating. Food very good with reasonable prices. Girls that serve more than friendly. Very impressed! Nice town too.

We ate here last Saturday week (July 30th), and found the young staff to be likeable and prompt. Unfortunately this was where everything good ended. Since we were to have a big dinner that evening we went for a light lunch, choosing two chowder and...crab sandwich combos. The so-called chowder was really watery vegetable soup with some white fish thrown in. I did find half a mussel in mine, but diced carrots took the place of the other seafood that should have been there (Lidl chowder is far superior). Each crab sandwich was cut into quarters, with each containing a very flat teaspoon's worth of tasteless crab meat and lettuce. This is one of the most mean and wretched lunches we have ever had. Needless to say we will never be back. Once was once too often.More

Stopped here for lunch while traveling on the Ring of Beara. Son had a monster sized burger. Hubby had an omelette (after asking if we could order breakfast and them accommodating us). I had a Big Irish breakfast. All of it was delicious! So glad...we stumbled onto this gem.More

It was raining, & we walked over to Lynchs. Saw several empty tables, but were told to come back in half an hour. Like I am really going to stand out in the rain to wait for a table. I feel if they had wanted...our business, they would have sat us at the empty table, even if we did not get service for a while we would have been dry. I think they cater to the locals, which is fine, but not good for tourists/visitors. So we wondered off & ate elsewhere.More

We were greeted on our late arrival by the very helpful Darren, who showed us to our room and gave us some great tips about how to get to Bere Island and back. We would have been screwed if we hadn’t met him so sound...for that, fella. I was tired, starving and sunburnt but he genuinely put me in good form. The bedroom and shower room were nicer than the majority of hotels we’ve stayed in this week. Pristine, with two chocolate chip cookies for these weary, sugar deprived travellers. Breakfast menu was fabulous; we ordered it the night before. We were under pressure for time in the morning and Maria sorted us with the most perfect breakfast (poached eggs and rashers for me. Nutella pancakes for her). Went out of her way to look after us so early and we really appreciate it. I’d recommend Lynch’s to anybody. Top spot.More

We had a large group of 10 and had called ahead of time. It’s a small place so be sure to call ahead if you have a large group. This place is popular. And I know why. The friendly staff and delicious Irish breakfast. We...were there long enough to see the lunch crowd come in too and the lunches looked delicious.More

We recently returned from a very comfortable stay at Lynch's on the Pier, which is in a fantastic location right on the Beara Peninsula. We have been to the area many times but this was our first stay in Castletownbere itself, which has a huge...working harbour & many options for water sports within easy reach of the town. Maria, the proprietor has a great team & the welcome, friendliness of staff & service was second to none. Maria herself could not do enough for us & she is so accommodating & welcoming. Our room was very comfortable & pristinely maintained daily. Breakfasts were really excellent, high quality, great choices & always very well presented. Portions are very good too & the lunch menu is vast & again, cooked to perfection, very reasonably priced & excellent options to choose from. Covid restrictions are followed perfectly & everything runs very smoothly. The location is ideal for touring West Cork & particularly the Beara Peninsula as the area has so much to offer. The islands of Beara & Dursey are not to be missed & the coastline all across Co Cork is wonderful as there's a different view at every turn. We were very pleased we booked our stay here & would highly recommend Lynch's on the Pier, at any time of the year!More

Staff friendly, had the seafood pie which comprised of some white fish, salmon and loads of diced vegetables, no shellfish. Tasted bland. My wife had the calamari again which lacked flavour. Not really value for money.

We called at lunch time without a booking and were told about 15 minutes for a table. When we got back we were seated and given a menu. We ordered, got our food and it was very good. Now the bad. At no stage were...we asked for contact details I offered when paying the bill but was told, no, your grand, come on, get with it. A lady went around to at least three other tables and sat to talk and no staff asked her to stay at her own table, they even joked at her being getting around today. To cap it all off, the table beside us became free, a waiter grabbed a cloth nearby and he wiped the table without disinfectant which by the way, was beside the cloth. This same man walked around with his mask under his chin instead of over his nose and mouth. In fairness any of the girls cleaning tables did use disinfectant. If we had known there was so little care been given to customer’s safety, we wouldn’t have gone in.More
