Kay and Mary are the beating heart of this fabulous fish restaurant. We ate there, 3 nights in a row and on each occasion, the food and service were marvellous.

We went into the restaurant at lunchtime and booked for the evening and were lucky enough to get a wonderful table in the window. The food was amazing, certainly the best Monkfish I’ve ever had, and the crab gratin was delicious too. The staff were...brilliant. A lovely vibrant restaurant.More

Visited Breens Lobster Bar for dinner. The food was extraordinary, so fresh, so delicate. We enjoyed starters of chowder, prawn gratin, and mains of calamari and fish pie. Fabulous food at a very reasonable price. Ate there tonight. We had fish of the day and burger. Both good. Fish was great. Not your usual deep fried fish which is all batter and no fish. It was pan fried and loads of fish in...it. Served with side salad and chips or veg and potato. Staff very helpful and friendly. We arrived late (hadnt prebooked) and they fit us in. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Will deff return and can't wait to try the desserts. If your passing through stop and support, you won't be disappointed. Both meals cost 16.50 which is very good. Just to note, no cards accept so take cash.More

We had two gorgeous seafood meals in Breens - service was excellent and lady serving us was lovely and gave helpful info on locality. Chowder is a must!! Only small downside was no facility for electronic payment - bank machine across the road is very...slow and there was a queue. Also if sitting outside you can't have starter. But they were minor issues - we're looking forward to returning and highly recommend 😀More

Visited this restaurant in August, they had a lovely lunch menu. Service was great and prices were affordable for what we got.

We have just eaten the most delicious seafood meal we have ever had..which says a lot as we are well travelled. From the freshness of the produce, to the way it was prepared and cooked, and the excellent service....it was the highlight of our stay...in the Castletownbere area.More

From the initial telephone call, I felt as thought I was massively inconveniencing this restaurant ! The proprietor sighed and huffed and puffed down the phone as I made the booking. When we arrived, it was pouring rain but we weren’t allowed in as it...was a few minutes before 5 pm ( local family however were permitted, door was shut in our face) After waiting in the rain for 5 minutes, we were allowed in by the very rude manager/ owner who again acted as as if she was doing us a huge favour. We were so taken aback. I was embarrassed as I was treating my parents to a meal out. I’ve never experienced behaviour like this anywhere else in Ireland ! Murphy’s restaurant at the top of the town for example couldn’t have been more welcoming the day before. There are very few restaurants in Castletownbere so perhaps this is why we were treated this rudely in Breens- they have nothing to lose, they will get the trade anyway irrespective of manners. Food was nothing to write home about. Young waitresses were lovely. Problem is with management.More

This place is wonderful: the staff are lovely; there is a friendly and relaxed atmosphere; and the food is delicious. We had 2 chowders which were the best of the week and the lobster and monkfish duo, so so good 👏🏻

An unbelievable find. The freshest fish. The crab au gratin was out if this world as was the sea food chowder starter and the lobster. The best we have ever tasted. Well worth a visit and especially to be served by Mary O’S who was...so helpful & a great bit of fun & fed us well. Enjoyed my birthday dinner!More

The seafood chowder here is incredible, available as a starter and main course. Seafood pie is also very tasty. Staff are very friendly and the prices very reasonable.
