Excellent Food

We dined here during a stay at the hotel. The restaurant was following all the COVID guidelines so it was a pleasure to be eating there. The food was excellent, we had the chorizo croquettes and the seafood plate to start. Mains were the black sole on the bone and the T Bone steak. We couldn’t fault a thing. Unfortunately we did have room for dessert! The service and staff were great!

Stunning food and exceptional service

Firstly in fairness this menu is excellently priced at €32.50 for two courses. We had scallops cooked to perfection for starter. I had chicken and husband had cod. Both absolutely beautiful. One of the nicest meals we had in a long time, service was superb and friendly…overall a great experience

Beutifully decorated restaurant. Great atmosphere and really excellent food also at a great value. We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights, and had 2 evening meals there. We chose fish dishes, delicious and so fresh. Faultless quality !

Great Food - Service too Rushed

We had a meal included in the restaurant as part of our stay in the hotel. Having eaten in the Bar the night before and really enjoying it, we had great expectations of the restaurant. We arrived at 8pm for our reservation and we were seated within a few minutes by the manager, who wasn't very friendly and who told us that our time at the table was limited - which we understood. After being given our menus, our order was taken fairly quickly. Bread was brought to our table and just as we were starting it, our starters arrived. We were surprised at how quickly they had arrived as they were both warm starters but both of them were really nice. As our plates were being removed by one server, another server arrived with our main courses. We really wanted some time between our courses but when we asked the server if our mains could be delayed, he just smiled and put the plates down. Our mains were both really nice but as we'd had no break between the starters and main course, we found it difficult to eat them and enjoy them fully. Our plates were removed within a few minutes and we were asked if we wanted dessert, as it was included with our meal. We told the server that we didn't as the speed with which we'd received our food meant we weren't in the humour for it. He just shrugged his shoulders and we asked for the bill. The server who brought our bill asked us if we'd liked our meal and we told her that we felt too rushed and she apologised for this. It took nearly 10 minutes for a terminal to be brought to the table for us to pay for our bill, which was the biggest break we'd had! Our experience here could have been great except for the speed in which we were made eat. We didn't know if we were treated this way because our meal was included but it wasn't an enjoyable experience. We were leaving the restaurant at 8.50pm, which is the fastest we have ever been in a restaurant but for us our night was ruined as we felt that our custom wasn't appreciated or wanted.

I am delighted to read that you enjoyed your meal overall and apologise if the service was too speedy. With the new time limits imposed, we are working differently to how we are used to and while we understand this isn't ideal for all, we can only thank our guests for their understanding as we manage different expectations. Great food and great value in a relaxed setting.

We always look forward to returning to Bantry and a meal in the Maritime's Ocean Restaurant. The most recent visit lived up to expectation. Staff are so friendly and the food was fantastic and great value. I had the seafood platter starter and Chicken Supreme main followed by the chocolate brownie. The setting is wonderful. Finish off the evening with great music and a few drinks in the bar. Looking forward to the next visit.

Exceeded expectations

Our experience exceeded expectations. We were looking for a nice restaurant to celebrate a wedding anniversary while on holiday. The staff was very accommodating and the food was exceptionally good and not overpriced.

splendid menu

We had a great three course menu with outstanding fish accompanied by a very nice bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. The service in this elegant restaurant was courteous and fast and the dessert (cheese cake & local cheeses) was very nice.

Good food but other diners didn't adhere to Covid rules

The food was good, but we couldn't enjoy it as other diners walked around not wearing masks, The tables were well spaced, there was a lot of children running around so the noise level was quite high. Not a place or a quiet relaxing meal.

Great Meal

Absolutely grand

Was staying in the hotel and dined here the first night. Had sea trout to start which was delicious, everything after was middle of the road. Not bad, just middle of the road, as I can't actually recall what I had, hence forgetable. It is a very swish looking dining room. I would like to try again in high season to see what it would be like in the height of summer.
