Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a couple of drinks and two pots of Mussels. The food was great food and the staff very friendly. A little on the slow side as they got busy very fast but you're on holidays, chill and have another glass of wine.

We had a nice meal here, but it wasn't wow and maybe lacks a little finesse to reach those levels. Nevertheless we had a pleasant evening and I'm sure we would return and from what we saw it looks to be one of the better...places to eat in Bantry on an evening. Staff very friendly and helpful.More

Very bland low quality unfresh food . Avoid at all costs. I think a lot of the food was microwaved. Soggy chicken wings , Bland fish goujons that were advertised as fresh cod and were neither fresh nor cod. There was also some slimey brown...lettuce mixed in with fresh .More

Might be worth booking. We didn't, but we're lucky to get a spot. Food was delicious. All dishes, no problems, decent portion size.
The only very slight issue was that we found it difficult to get the staffs attention. Busy evening, which was the likely...cause, however it was the only very mild thing we could identify that could have been better. 100% recommend a visit.More

The food at the Snug couldn't be faulted but the behaviour of a certain member of staff was outrageous. He roared and shouted at another staff member in front of everyone and marched him into the Kitchen where he continued roaring. He frighted my 2...young children who ended up leaving before the meal finished. Totally put us off the place.More

We had a wonderful dinner at The Snug tonight. They've built an outdoor area where we were able to enjoy the food and the atmosphere of Bantry. Our server, Nmenja (spelling?) was friendly and personable. He made us feel like part of the family. We...even met his family who happened to be walking by! Highly recommend The SnugMore

We stopped off for some lunch here last week. My boyfriend ordered the seafood chowder for starters and I ordered the chicken wings. These were both average enough. For mains we ordered the lambs liver served with mash & veg and cod goujons and chips....The liver was the only part of the main meal that was tasty. The chips looked like they had been cooked earlier and reheated. There colour and texture was unusual and they tasted soggy. You could not taste the cod as there was so much breading on the gougons.
While the service had been good when arriving no member of staff came to us to see if everything was alright, which is very unusual in a restaurant. I might add it was not busy at the time. I observed the waiter removing our meals as he looked at how much food we had left but he did not approach us about the food. The barman when paying did not ask us if everything was ok with our meal either. Very disappointing as the total cost was €61. I would have informed the staff had I been asked about our meal. I would not recommend.More

We had no booking for 6 adults & 2 kids at 6pm during the Easter holidays. They were under pressure & could not have been more accommodating. Good menu choices, we had the smoked salmon salad , fish Gounod, Dover sole, lamb shank & the...kids had fish & risotto. Food was excellent, staff were great. Definitely give it a go if you are in Bantry but would recommend booking a spot!More

Great place to eat in Bantry. The menu had so much choice and quality of the food was fantastic. Fish, lamb, steak and so much more with super service, atmosphere and centrally located in Bantry. Thanks Kay and family.

We had dinner and drinks here last Friday night as we were staying in Bantry. We both had fillet steaks and they were top class. I would recommend the Snug and all staff were very nice.

We ate here three times on our recent holiday in West Cork and I cannot say enough about how friendly and helpful the staff were. The menu is very varied and they try to do genuinely interesting things with the fish specials, one evening I...had pan fried turbot in a cider and crab sauce. The crispy duck in an orange glaze was wonderful. The portions are huge. Aside from the lovely and varied menu the main attraction of The Snug is the wonderful and friendly staff who help to create a lovely atmosphere. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.More

Had dinner here recently and the food was not great. Starter was OK but fish platter was pretty basic. The only nice thing was the smoked salmon and way too much salad. Dessert was awful. Pity about the food as the restaurant itself was lovely...and front of house staff very obliging.More

Food was fantastic. Paddy and the staff were excellent and so accommodating. Delicious pint and lovely atmosphere. Couldn’t recommend it more and will definitely be making a return on our next visit to Bantry.

Thank you for your kind review. Hope to see ye soon.
Was getting bored as menu was not changing. But it has again and enjoyed the food. The toasted special was amazing. Huge slices of home cooked ham. Well done! Excellent service too.

We had a lovely meal in the very cosy Snug. The staff were really lovely and welcoming. We both had chowder starters and they were delicious. I went for the prawn salad and my other half had the seafood platter which we both enjoyed. We finished...the evening with two lovely sherry triffles. This is a real gem of a place and perfect on a rainy evening in October.More
