Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Thank you for the beautiful bespoke hamper. Made up for my Father in law. Arrived earlier than expected and full of wonderful food. All the more impressive give the ease with which Laura and Andrew facilitated our requests from Malaysia, and sent their great produce from W. Cork to Laois. Highly recommended, would use again without hesitation. So good we received a facetime call from a very happy 82 year old within minutes of it's arrival.

We enjoyed this place so much we went back twice. The first day we had the loviest sandwiches, coffee and shared dessert. You could tell immediately they are genuinely interested in good quality food and understand food. It was divine. We were lucky to get a bench outside and it was a sunny day. Two hours later and after a deep conversation and more coffees, we purchased gifts to bring back home for family. On our final day in Bantry we planned a stop off for morning coffee and scones here on our way home. Once again we really enjoyed the food, service, location and general atmosphere. It is quirky and a really great business. My partner was trilled they could provide good oat milk cappuccino!

Called in to get a bap and dessert to share with a friend who lives nearby. Ordered a goat's cheese and pesto etc bap. Was told it would take about 5 minutes. Fine. But it took close to 15 minutes. The toasting is done behind the counter. The staff try their best to keep up with orders from a few customers sitting at tables, and a take-out order. Everyone is very polite as they try to squish past you as they deliver orders. I just thought it would be so much better if the preparation was done behind the scenes, where there would be more space, and perhaps quicker delivery

Tried Mannings again after a disappointing visit a couple of years ago. Maybe I'm missing the point but running out of lunch options before 2pm during the holiday season (even this one) does not seem like good business or service. On this visit at 1.15 there were 3 sandwich rolls left and 2 sausage rolls. I did not select a dessert which is very unusual but my visual assessment proved right as my fellow travellers left theirs. Maybe their evening pizzas are fab!

Having passed Manning’s on a trip we decided to call in on way back for a coffee and snack at about 3.30. They were not in any busy at this point. No table service but having queued in cramped retail area which was marked as a one way system but was being ignored, my turn came to order. I asked for a simple one cheese sandwich. I was met by a frosty response from a young woman informing me that “only the items on the menu were available so I will refer you back to it”. Ironic as she was preparing 6 x “ ultimate cheese toastie” at the time for the display unit! Obviously out sick the day customer service was covered.

Had been a frequent visitor here over the years but disappointed in the changes here mainly staffing. You now have to collect your own food at the counter by a hand held buzzer system. Given the very small number of customers when we were there exactly 6 it seemed very unnecessary and customer unfriendly. I would urge the management to reconsider this system particularly during very quiet periods and ultimately for a sandwich that costs 9.50 euro it shouldn’t be a big ask. None of the friendly engagement of previous years and was really disappointed.

Manning’s is one of my favourite places. It provides both excellent eat in / take away options. Most recently we sampled the delicious pizza cooked in a stone oven outside. The nicest pizza I have eaten in a long time! They also have a great selection of cheese and wine.

First time visiting Manning’s Emporium today and it won’t be my last. The Goats Cheese Toastie & cup of sweet potato & coconut soup were homemade and delicious. Lovely atmosphere, staff were friendly. On leaving I purchased the homemade coleslaw, potato salad and brown bread, which are equally delicious. I will be returning many times in the future to try the rest of the amazing menu.

I came for the pizzas, I stayed for the wine (and cheese!). I've popped in here a few times when in the area and have always been impressed with the friendly service and fantastic selection of food on offer. The choice of cheese and wine in particular is wonderful.

Crazy long wait and high price of €60 for 5 sandwiches and drinks. Absolutely tiny portions, barely the sandwich itself on the plate, choice of only 4 sandwiches altogether, no side salads, crisps, chips or anything of the sort. Although the sandwiches themselves were tasty, none of us were satisfied by the end of the meal.

Hi EllG_1998, thanks for taking time to write your review. I'm really sorry you didn't feel satisfied by the end of your meal. Our toasted sandwich menu is small, and at the prices we charge (€7.50) we really couldn't afford to put chips and salad with the sandwiches, especially as we are using high quality ingredients that support local producers. During busier times there is a wait, but this cannot be helped. I am a little confused regarding the cost of your meal though, you state that you spent €60 on five sandwiches and drinks? That comes to €12 per head which unless you were having wine or beer (€5-6) means there is a discrepancy. Perhaps you could email us at info@manningsemporium.ie if you feel there was a mistake on your bill. Thanks again.

On our (unfortunately) infrequent trips “back west”, we stopped off today on our return from a cycle of part of the Ring of Beara. BTW Its a glorious cycle route. There were four of us, and we were treated as always with the usual great hospitality. We were late for the glorious sounding toasties ( they stop at 15.30), if only we had cycled faster 😜. We had some great teas, coffees and cakes to sate our sugar knocks. Of course we were tempted by the great collection of cheeses and charcuterie, and came away with a basket full. We wont mention the sneaky box of wines I managed to slip into my boot when the rest of the party were distracted. Mannings have a very interesting wine selection.

I spent a week recently renting close by to Mannings. I couldn't have asked for a better place to have nearby. I managed to have breakfast, lunch or dinner here everyday and I can't wait to get back. Their coffee is the best you will find locally. The perfect start to everyday. They have amazing pastries, sausage rolls and lots more in the morning. I tried them all and they were all to die for. The toasties at lunch are amazing. I recommend the ultimate cheese. Best toasties I've ever had. But sitting down with a bottle of beer or a glass of wine and getting one of their wood fired pizzas was without a doubt the highlight of my meals. The pizzas are perfect. They have loads of options with local produce that you won't get anywhere else. Genuinely unique options. It's not just the food though. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. The staff are all so nice and helpful I'm already planning my next trip.

Have been visiting Mannings for for many years. Regrettably it's gone down hill since civid arrived. It appears it is now just a sandwich joint, understandable during covid, but has continued with limited fare. I loved popping in for a plate of their selected meats , chese, and chutney, and a glass of wine on a summer's day. It's a sandwich bar now, well during the day , pizza later on. Young staff doing their best best but too slow....The lady of the house is not a happy camper, and that reflects on the staff, no buzz, you can feel the stress, she needs to smile, tough game I know, but, if you can't stick the heat, get out of.....

A highlight of our annual stay in Bantry is visiting Mannings. These are difficult times for catering with rising costs and staff shortages but Mannings strives to maintain standards using local produce. Friendly service and it's no hardship to wait and take in the view across the bay. Unusually it didn't rain this year. It's amazing to see how the twins have grown.

Odered 4 delicious pizzas and salads for our family last week to takeaway. Ate them on a picnic bench with a bottle of Rose overlooking Bantry Bay. We all agreed it was the highlight of our holiday. The goats cheese and pear was sublime as was the morroccan lamb. Well done Mannings
