Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent food served in a friendly and welcoming way. The building is beautifully and imaginatively restored after a fire destroyed the first conversion from a church. The menu was large enough to offer a good choice. The only minor downside was not been told the...price of the fish of the day. It probably would not have affected our choice but the price of €36.50 for sea bass was a surprise. (but don't let that put you off; this was a very good dining experience).More

We wanted to go for coffee and desserts, the owner said that we can only go for lunch and he didn’t let us in to the restaurant. We was so desapointed looking at the good opinion on the google.

We read that this was a restaurant in a beautifully restored church. So even though I saw it was pricey, I made reservations a week in advance for 5pm. We were hoping for a nice meal out, as it was our wedding anniversary. When we...arrived, we were seated on the first floor, between the front door and the bathroom. I asked if we could get a table upstairs, where the decor and atmosphere was much nicer and intimate, where you could really appreciate the beauty of the church. But we were curtly told they were fully booked. So we sat down, ordered our food, and then my husband got up to go to the bathroom, at which point I was told we had been seated at the wrong table, that our table was for a party of four. No apologies, no courtesy shown, the staff member simply commenced in promptly tossing my husband’s jacket carelessly onto the chair at the next (smaller) table, which I then picked up off the ground where it had fallen. (Later that “party of four” arrived and turned out also, like us, to be a party of two.) I hoped at least the food would be good but it was just overpriced chipper food. Not good at all, especially not for €20+ a plate. BTW, by the time we left, the upstairs was not yet 1/3 full. Will not ever go here ever again.More

Had a late lunch this past week. Old church restored after a fire several years ago. Sat upstairs with views of the stained glass, which was beautiful. Put our name in right at 12 on a Sunday. Went back at 4 and our name was...nowhere to be found. Situation was quickly rectified. Had the special and soup of the day. Both were excellent. Server was good.More

We came here for dinner with our tour group. This restaurant was a converted church. On the inside, you can still see the organ and stained-glass windows. The main bar is in the middle of the building and is the largest bar I have ever...seen. I counted at least 4 bartenders working there. There are two levels and when we arrived every table was taken. We enjoyed our dinner, as well as the entertainment. They had two men playing the fiddle and guitar and 2 dancers came out periodically and performed.More

On arrival we were seated downstairs inside the entrance but were approached to see if we’d like to move to a table upstairs after we’d placed our order, which we gladly accepted as it was very draughty, our drinks were brought to our table upstairs...by the most rude waitress that I have ever witnessed, she slammed the drinks on the table and left a fine messy pint of Murphys, this low sized lady with dark hair is no asset to this business and in my opinion she lacks the personality required for dealing with the public. Our waitress upstairs was a fabulous competent young lady that was well capable of holding her position. This restaurant is restored to a very high standard but it lacked atmosphere and was extremely loud and chaotic, the food was good but it didn’t leave a lasting impression.More

There is a menu for all times of day online, just Google church restaurant Skibbereen. There is also one on display outside as well. They don't change the menu very often but there are always daily specials.
