On our trip around the Ring of Kells, we stopped there by chance for dinner. A warm pub, full of locales, which serves tasty and honest pub food. The staff is friendly, efficient and helpful. Booked a table for 2 on a visit to Glenbeigh area. Worst mistake we make. On entering the premises, we were not ask for Covid ID. We were taken to the restaurant area which was quite, The first point I should mention was the miserable...decor and horrid furnishings. The floor was stained and dirty and looked like it had no update for years. The leaking radiator was evident as was the lack of attention to detail. The lighting was old and grubby lamp shades. This send alarm bells rings before we ordered. A young waitress came and took our order. I had the "Special" Pork and apple sauce was veg. Partner had the Steak sandwich When it arrived it came without gravy for my Pork and veg consisted of mask and carrots. It was tasteless and bland. The plate was small and looked like it came from a school canteen as did the cheap crockery. The waitress or for that matter anyone never came back to ask if everything was OK. When we did finish the waitress took our plates and ask if we would like to see the desert menu. I said of course. We waited for approx 20/30 mins. No one came. Tried to get the attention of anyone but was pointless. We decided enough was enough so waited by the till and paid. I was not not ask if everything was OK. I dont take pleasure in writing bad reviews on tripadviser but to serve this rubbish to paying customers and eat in an environment of absolute sub standard is beyond me and to think that during the Covid lock down some basic maintenance would be done. Disgusting. Such a nice area and beautiful. Make use of the takeaway next door later that evening. Only just found out from some of locals that they would not go there. CwMore
