Delicious food attentively served by local Irish staff who had all been trained to abide by Covid 19 regulations. Dinner table d'hote menu designed to suit all tastes. Full Irish breakfast available or expansive continental breakfast. A real treat to have a meal here.

We had an amazing weekend here, the whole experience was gorgeous from start to finish. The house itself & the grounds are absolutely stunning. The staff are all friendly and helpful. We stayed in the suite, which was a total treat, it has a large...4 poster bed, beautiful views of the lake, there is a gorgeous big bath in the bathroom too. We ate in the restaurant both nights which i would fully recommend, the food was delicious, particularly the mussels, the Turbot and the rack of lamb. The service was excellent there too. I’d definitely recommend going if considering it! I know we will be backMore

My husband and I stayed here for just one night recently. While I have to admit that the house and its surroundings are beautiful and the staff are friendly and helpful, our overall experience was very disappointing mainly because of the food. I ordered the...duck confit as a starter which was really not duck confit at all, no crispy skin and thought he meat was tender it tasted very bland and the risotto which accompanied it served no purpose whatsoever only to make the dish stodgy and hard to digest. My husband had the smoked eel which was pleasant but nothing to rave about. However it was my husbands main course of 8 oz fillet steak that really was the disappointment. he asked for it to be cooked medium rare.. which it was but usually a steak is cooked to order and it should be juicy. The steak was cut in half on the plate, when presented....no juices at all ran from it and while he ate it, it lacked lustre and it was evident that the dishes we ordered (except for my turbot which was good) were par cooked sometime earlier on and then finished/reheated for plating up. This also included the vegetables. The best course was dessert. Both of us suffered from severe upset stomach and indigestion and had a very poor nights sleep as a result. We ordered breakfast in bed which came late and while they did apologise as they were busy we were at that stage already showered and dressed still suffering from upset stomachs the result being that we could not really enjoy breakfast all and it was also poorly cooked, everything was fried including the sausages which were undercooked. I would not stay or eat here again and for the prices they are asking, we were extremely disappointed and underwhelmed with our stay.More

Just home from a weekend break in Carrig Country House. I must say we loved every moment of our stay. From our welcome on arrival, with lovely tea, coffee and treats, a beautiful evening meal with a fabulous wine. Our room, room 8, was delightful,...a lovely terrace outside overlooking the lake. Big and spacious with a very comfy bed. Our Evening meals were five star quality. Perfect portion size and beautiful flavours. Franks recommendation and advise were much appreciated too! We stayed for two nights, Friday and Saturday and seriously contemplated staying Sunday night also but unfortunately we couldn’t arrange other commitments, other wise we would have!! Breakfast on both mornings was delicious and fresh. Owners and Staff are brilliant! The place is peaceful, quite and perfect for a retreat from the busy day to day. I would highly recommend Carrig Country House.More

We stayed at the Carrig House for two nights and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. The location lakeside with easy access to hiking and biking is ideal and absolutely gorgeous. The food and dining service were excellent. I highly recommend the Carrig House.

Thank you to the team at Carrie House for a lovely dinner. A cosy living room offers a warming fire and a drink while you decide from a menu that pairs the best of local produce with some interesting twists. I had a duo of...prawns followed by local lamb. Both were excellent. Service was very friendly and competent and we welcomed the advice from our host on places to dine at our next location. Great place for a culinary treat during your holiday.More

We could not have had a better stay for our honeymoon. Frank and Mary were the most darling hosts, and we were so touched that they upgraded us to the presidential suite for two nights for our honeymoon. Carrig House was so beautiful, the most...beautiful place I have ever stayed. The food astounded us every night we were there, and every morning as well. I wish we could have stayed here for a week. This was the most special honeymoon spot we could have ever picked, perfectly romantic cozy and lovely and Irish. We already hope to go back for an anniversary someday!More

I’ve eaten here a few times and it was more underwhelming than last time. It’s a quaint old house but a looking a little tired on the inside. Could do with a little freshening up. Food is adequate but not worthy of the money you...pay. It’s ridiculous that you are then charged for vegetables on top which no other local restaurant does. Overall was not that impressed and will not be returningMore
