Just left Giovannellis restaurant and we are savouring a lovely Italian meal. Super homemade tagliatelle, al dente just as it should be and a rich ragu. Gorgeous and light tiramisu and typical smooth Italian ice cream. To round off the beautifully authentic meal we had...a fresh fruit selection which was a feast for the eye and a perfect finale of sweetness and acidity. A strong little hit of espresso had us ready for the road. One criticism, while the Chianti at € 29.50 a bottle was good, it was the cheapest of the wines on the list. I would suggest a more extensive range of good, mid priced wines (of which there are many) in order to provide a choice. Few people would agree to have to pay €50 + for a wine to accompany their meal ...even if they could afford it ! Other than that, we thoroughly recommend this restaurant for the welcome and the quality.More

Probably the worst restaurant I have ever eaten in.. Went last Saturday night and had tagatelli... Pasta was hard and had some kind of tomato sauce.. 24.50..joke..no atmosphere.. Like eating in a kitchen... Starter was also terrible.. Menu was also very poor.. Stay away..

A chef who takes great pride in his creations, and it certainly pays off. We had a lovely dinner and a great night out. Highly recommended

Wonderful Italian hospitality and outstanding food at Giovannelli's! The restaurant is small so make sure they know you will be coming. We ate the homemade pasta and the rack of lamb. Neither are to be missed. Everything is fresh and prepared with love. We highly...recommend a visit. You will not be disappointed!More

With little notice they were able to take our group of 12 for dinner, and even brought in a bottle of Jamesons for those in our group that were not wine drinkers. The blackboard menu offered a range of Italian dishes and we took advantage...of many of them. Carpaccio and caprese salads were popular choices and greatly enjoyed. Main courses included a variety of pastas, lamb, and fish. I had the linguini with clams and mussels. Offered a "spicy" option I took it and it was certainly spicy. Desserts were popular as well. The wine list was not extensive but had some reasonable options which we enjoyed. This is a small restaurant, and each dish is cooked to order so service may not be as fast as some people want, but we had a great evening.More

We had a fantastic meal on Saturday night, starting with freshly made gnocci with blue cheese, followed by the seafood linguine which went above and beyond our expectations. It included, mussels, clams, crab claws and a whole lobster! If this dish is on the menu,...make sure to have it - well worth the money. A great treat! All accompanied by a lovely, Italian white wine. This meal has been one of the highlights of our year - real Italian food by a chef who cares about flavours and quality ingredients. Nothing standard about this restaurant. Excellent service too.More

Went here for a meal on Saturday night. We had a beef ravioli, 25€, it was bland and flavourless, small in size. Mine was tagliatelle in a cherry tomato sauce,24€, again very average with no wow flavour. Deserts were tiramisu at 6.50€,just ok. Pannacotta with...berries at 8.50€, bland and flavourless. Service was good. Overall this restaurant is charging way too much for very average food. Will not be going back.More

Love returning to Giovannelli, superbly cooked quality and locally produced food , whether meat, fish or vegetables. Cosy, small and intimate Italian restaurant where the owner chef relates in a genuine and honest manner with his guests. Steaks and fresh fish were “ to die...for” not to mention the cheese board at the end,.More

This is one of Killorglin's special places to eat . It is small which means a) you will probably need to book b) there is attention to detail. As with any good Italian meal it relied on the ingredients being the very best and then...doing simple things very well with them I did not fast this Good Friday but I did at least stay off meat- easy when the black sole was so good . It may seem odd to get excited by potatoes but they were delicious- maybe the best potatoes have ever been for me- I think roasting in olive oil and lots of herbs were involved.More

We have been on a few special occasions as my adult daughters and I love it. Tonight was special as always. Very small restaurant but the food is brilliant - everything is cooked from scratch and while waiting for the food is great conversation time...as the atmosphere is so relaxed. The staff and owner are attentive without being obtrusive. Would highly recommend.More

Our party of four walked into this small and unpretentious restaurant only to find we were the first guests for the evening. Atmosphere was definitely lacking as we wondered whether we had made a mistake choosing this restaurant. Fortunately what followed was some of the...best Italian food we had ever had - pasta freshly made while you wait : the gorgonzola gnocchi was to die for... Wine list was good and service was friendly - even the owner/chef came out from the kitchen to engage in some friendly banter.More
